Just came across this video (thank you, Lord!) and I've never had more fun watching one. I'm a week out past a double mastectomy so I've been house-bound and there are no words to tell you how much your cheery and uplifting attitude has helped me today. God bless you a million times over!!
Word of unsolicited advice from someone who has gone through one also...well, many words of unsolicited advice actually lol... 1) Save your surgical bras and whatnot. You might need them again. 2) Don't let yourself stiffen up. Move around as best you can but don't push it. 3) Especially if you had reconstruction, watch out for "cording." Lots of specific exercises (many on here!) can help prevent or treat it but check with your surgeon before going ahead. 4) The deep itch you can't scratch WILL get better with time. Oh, and the pain of even the softest fluffiest fabric brushing ever so gently on your skin will also diminish over time...if you were unfortunate enough to experience that. No one warned me about it so yeah that was fun. The more you touch (with lotion, if possible), the faster it'll go away. Oh, and take care of your scars! Even if you aren't bothered by them now, you might be in the future. 5) It will take time to be ok with the loss of feeling/sensation. If you got/get reconstruction, be aware of how you hug people. You can't feel them but they can feel you and it can hurt them. 6) The grief is real. You might be OK now. You might think you won't miss them. You might think you're happy they're gone. You might just be grateful to be alive. But that can and probably will change. If it does, don't let anyone make you feel guilty for it. Really, don't let anyone make you feel guilty for ANY of your feelings. Regret might creep up, too...but what's done is done. Nothing you can do. Just keep your chin up and do the best you can. 7) I'd also advise looking into a diet/lifestyle change, for your overall health. 8) If you've got a significant other, keep their feelings in mind too. It's not just you who has to deal with this. Talk. Work through it together. (((HUGS))) Hope you're healing well, internet stranger ❤
@@katie7748 Katie, you are so sweet to take time to write your wise words. I'm doing very well and didn't need chemo/radiation so gratitude is my theme song. Bless you for your thoughts, help and virtual hugs; here they come, right back at you!!!! ☺☺☺
My mother, who was a very good cook, was good at finding recipes that she thought would be good. She had a HUGE collection of recipe books, many which were published by Church ladies. She said those were the best! She was the best mom. 💖💖💖 Yes, she said “tin foil” too. Thank you so much! Sending you love from Tacoma Washington. She was from Indiana.
I discovered your recipe while my brother was in hospice. I fixed this for my family the week he passed away, and we were very grateful to have such a delicious quick meal. He's resting with the Lord now. Thank you for the recipe!
I just made a similar recipe last week, been using it over 30 years. 1 Cup long grain rice 1 Envelope Onion Soup/Dip Mix 2 Cups Water 1 Can Golden Mushroom Soup Chicken (I use chicken with bones in) Place rice in a greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle onion soup mix over rice then add water. Place chicken in pan then spoon the soup on top of the chicken letting it run down into pan. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350 deg for 1-1/2 hours. I usually add green beans in on top of the rice before adding onion soup. Very delicious. Also, good with pork chops which have been flash browned in frying pan. Gotta try Me Me's variation.
My grandmother made this recipe often and I have used it over the years. It’s a one dish wonder with plenty of flavor. Keep up the delicious cooking and shining for Jesus! Debbie from Charlotte.
When I had a baby my cousin brought this to us and it was the best stuff. I’ve made it many times since. I use more rice and more soup plus milk. It’s so good!
I have been watching you for a long time now and I have both of your cookbooks. I feel like I know you and KayKay. 😊 My family has been my taste testers and it has slowly become a routine to gather at my house for Sunday lunch! My name is Amanda but my family has always called me Manni. So now I am proud to have Sunday Lunch at Manni’s and I have you to thank. I’ll be fixing this one as soon as we get back from our vacation in Wyoming. ❤love from Missouri (well, Wyoming today)!!
MeMe, you don't ever have to apologize for what you know, I call it tin foil as well, some people have nothing better to do than focus on every little detail, even banging your spoon on your bowls never bother me, if people do not like something they may want to stifle it and move on and let you prepare for your next video. Keep on Trucking MeMe .....
I have never used Minute Rice either, once I discovered how easy it is to make fluffy rice, I never looked back, but I have ordered my Minute Rice and we are going to try this recipe. Thank you again for all of your recipes.
Thanks MeMe, looks really good and will try it some time. I’ll pass on a tip to your viewers: I’ve used Minute Rice for years now for just one thing-Mexican or Spanish Rice-just use Motts Clamato instead of water. Works like a charm for an easy side dish. You can add a pinch of chile powder or cumin too, up to the person. Never fails.
I've been making this for over 50 years. Our recipe is called Chicken A La Rice. 1 cup of minute rice is only two servings so I use two cups of Minute Rice. Our recipe calls for the Onion soup mix to be combined with the rice at the bottom of the pan. I pour some of the liquid in the rice to make sure it gets enough moisture. Cream of Chicken soup can be used in place of the Cream of Mushroom soup and my mother added a can of mushrooms. I never get tired of it.
In the 70s my Mom did something familiar to this except the rice was with cream of mushroom soup, milk, mayo, and Lipton onion soup mix. And then she put bone in chicken pieces on the top, cover with foil for awhile, the late take the foil off and bake some more til the skin on the chicken was crispy. One of my favorite meals.
Hi MeMe. No Peek Chicken sounds and looks delicious. Minute rice did a great job so I am glad you gave it a try so we could see results first hand. You always have such fun videos.
