DUDE 😳😳😳
I don’t even know what to say, you really didn’t need to do that my man! Thank you so so much, that’s… okay I’m feeling a little humbled right now, I’m not gonna lie. That’s too much man 😳😳
@@markabusireactions no worries, have a few beers instead if that’s what’s needed today. I can only see the channel going one way to be honest. Depends of course on whether fans want honest reactions or not! If they don’t then maybe find something else to do with your time!
@@swissystan is that direction right into the toilet? 😂
I’ve been honestly shocked at the response to the channel so far, I didn’t expect it to get anything like the views and stuff it’s gotten so far. Plus almost everyone has been lovely!
Not mindless shredding...this is Mincho's turn to sing 👌💪❤🤘🤘🤘
Kanami🥰took the vocals in her own hands in this one.
Damn right she did!
Even if you don't like instrumentals, they always put out incredible songs.
I just mean generally speaking I don’t listen to instrumentals much, but that one was great!
Kanami is a brilliant composer and she'll never allow it to get repetitive or boring. She seems to provide that triumphant chorus in every song, whatever form it takes. Listen for the same in Sayonakidori if/when you react to it. Her guitar descant at the end gives me chills every time! Another instrumental you might find interesting is "Memories of Wind and Wine (Dawn Winery Theme)." They did it last year for an online "concert" of music for the game Genshin Impact: ruclips.net/video/-M2EYvqeTdI/видео.html It is a very simple verse/chorus song, but they are such great performers that it doesn't gets boring either. Every verse is unique even though it's the same verse and chorus. Opinion: Quality over quantity every time.
^ Definitely a true fan right here lol. The first time I saw that Genshin Impact cover, I thought it was like a deep fake or something. The community rarely discusses it and it just seemed like such an unlikely thing for them to do.
Glad you reached this one, and so glad you dug it. Great reaction. For me, this is one of their absolute best, which is really saying something. An incredible, beautifully balanced composition, with a lot of emotional dynamics, too. Looking forward to seeing you continue on your BM journey. (Oh, and hi from Scotland, btw!)
Nice! A fellow Scot!! At least one viewer won’t have trouble with the accent 😂😂
@@markabusireactions Well, kind of. English escapee in Glasgow. But don't hold that against me.
Many of us recently saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 2023 BAND-MAID 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wraps up in Japan.
In addition their recent Japan tour just concluded with 17 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concludes at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023!
The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, Mark!
If they ever come to Scotland I will be there! ☺️
@@markabusireactions Bro if they make it to ANYWHERE in the UK next year you HAVE to see them. I went in with impossibly high expectations and they still completely surpassed them. One of the things that just doesn't come through on their live videos is just how hard it is to keep track on them on stage. Focus on Miku for a moment and Misa will switch sides with Kanami. To a lesser extent, I think some people overlook just how well Saiki is able to control a crowd. I know I don't need to sell you, but please if they end up playing anywhere even remotely close to you, SEE THEM. I'd definitely be willing to contribute to the cause.
@@bbobjs oh god no, I’m not asking for money! 😂 I mean, technically I am with the Patreon, but I’m not just gonna ask for money to go and see a band play 😂😂
Never disappointed in your reactions 'cuz of your musician background no bullshit approach. Thank you. That said, as a major BAND-MAID fan, my chest expands outward more and more after your no-nonsense reactions to my favorite band. I will not suggest a song 'cuz I know you have too much going on at this time. Do not push yourself, enjoy your efforts. PEACE
Aw thank you!! I appreciate the kind words mate, keeps me going!
I think a lot of Misa's bass style comes out of her originally being a guitar player, and also having to cover for Miku not knowing how to play guitar early on. It put her bass into a kind of unique role that they've been evolving, and now it kind of serves as a second lead instead of just part of a standard rhythm section. It gives them such a cool sound.
You’re right, because she never just sits back and plays the root notes, which for a lot of music in this style, you ordinarily would!
That’s a really interesting observation….
She reminds me of John Entwistle for that very reason. The Who would have Pete playing rhythm sometimes, and John would play lead bass.
Most excellent choice for today’s reaction. The song that solidified me as a Maidiac.
I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
🪄 gary-o anastasia! And we’ll get Gary’s most eloquent commentary as well
Great reaction, as always. Kanami's songwriting shows here, making, as you point out, a really compelling instrumental.
Glad you are taking care of yourself with moderating the pace. Too many reactors burn themselves out by keeping up too strenuous a schedule.
I’ll probably still churn out more than I said I would, but if I need to take a day or two to compose myself, I’m not gonna beat myself up about it anymore. I’m glad you all understand! I work a 50 hour week, so it’s been a bit all in, which is fine to get myself established, but I feel like I’ve done that now, so I can take a bit of pressure off ☺️
BAND-MAID's instrumentals never overstay their welcome. You get three or four minutes of awesomeness, they all get their chance to shine, and that's it. They always leave you wanting more. BAND-MAID enjoys watching reactions. They've even noticed a few reactors at their shows. I won't say they don't block at all because I don't do reactions, but from what I've heard, they rarely outright block videos. They may demonetize videos, but they rarely block them.
All of mine are demonetised, which is absolutely fine, I’m not really here to make money tbh. But I have other bands I like to cover and they keep getting blocked.
Basically, I can’t just consign myself to band-maid. As much as I love them, 150 videos later I have no channel lol. So I need to think long term ☺️
@@markabusireactions Yes there are several record labels out there that just don't want their artists to get free advertising. It's sad.
@@billb.5183 I get it, a lot of the reactions don’t really add anything and it feels like stealing content, and they don’t always have time to sift through every video and see which are genuine. It just means I had to think of a way around it!
Thanks mate, another great tune here.
Their songwriting is fantastic, the flow, the unpredictable nature, the understated solos,
One day, one day, I will get to see them play live

This one shreds but wait till you hear Without Holding Back.
"...then the drummer comes in with a wee gallop..." - I'm going to hear that every time I hear an Akane transition 😂
Well, she did!!
I’d like to see Blooming, it at least has an interesting backstory. The story is that Kanami (lead guitar/composer) gave all the girls a homework assignment to come up with a section of music for their instrument and they sent it to her. She then put that all together in a song, that song is blooming. MISA (bass) had a hard time remembering how to play her bit because she had too much whiskey when she put it together and forgot.
It’s one of my favorite tracks.
That said, Sayonakadori has everyone’s favorite pigeon sing lead, so that’s something new and you should do that also :P
@@evilducks3710 it’s almost definitely gonna be one of those two that is next tbh
@@markabusireactions Blooming rules. Lots of fans say that their favorite is like the last one they heard, or that their top 10 favorites list from them is like 50 songs, but Blooming is legit one of their best. If you do it, do the MV. It's one of the exceptions where the studio version is the best.
@@daaaaaave good to know! Cause I would have done the live version otherwise lol
@@markabusireactions They have _so many!_ They played *"Clang"* last night in Sendai, the first time in four years. It's another beast that doesn't have a MV or an official live and you'll only find it on 2*(Billi) or fan cams (Vladimir Chupin has recordings of it from Europe 2019, look for "Bochum 2019-06-24 20.38.52 BAND-MAID CLANG" for example).
Preemptive hell yeah. Their instrumentals are top notch. My personal fave might be Onset but when listening to any of them they take top spot at that moment.
Don’t get too excited! 😂
They never let you down. Always change it up to keep it interesting. Agree in general - a lack of vocals to carry a melody, and hide some potential thin spots, is a tricky thing to pull off.@@markabusireactions
I'm always amazed after seeing video after video and NEVER being let down. Sometimes it takes me a few times of watching to "get it" but after I do, love it!
Of their videos, you mean?
@@markabusireactions I should say of their music. Not just their videos. At first the whole Unseen World album took a little bit to get used to because it was busy. A lot more chaotic than past stuff. Some is pretty progressive.
@@markabusireactionsI wasn’t sure they weren’t talking about your accent.
Great reaction and thanks for the analysis. I discovered that when I thought I was getting bored with a Band-Maid song it turned out that I needed to replace the batteries in my pacemaker.
😂😂😂😂 incredible!
How they work; Kanami creates the basic music, then she sends it out to MISA and Akane for their "fills". MISA has said in an interview that her bass lines pretty much stay as is with in the progress. Then the music is sent to Miku to write the lyrics. Now Saiki is working with Miku on the lyrics and has wrote the lyrics for 3 songs. Note: they do not live near one another in Tokyo. Then they go into to the studio for final production. Saiki has the "We're Done" call. In another interview MISA was asked who was their Producer, She answered Miku.
Miku created the concept of Maids and recruited Kanami off the internet. Kanami then called Akane and she called MISA. Saiki was tricked into joining the band.
Hearing this one for the first time was an instant fall into love for me. ^_^
Heck, it could easily pass for an epic theme for a climactic boss battle in an RPG. It's SO good!
Right?!!

Nice one Mark. As an FYI Kanami does not do that high squealy bend at the beginning of the chorus Live. She subs a 3 or 4 note run instead. Don't know why. Anyway this is currently my favorite BAND-MAID song for almost a year now. I have all faith in Mincho (and the band) that she will top it. Check out ONSET-LIVE which is another instrumental and see how they handle that one Live. See how long it takes you to find a BAND-MAID song you don't like. You'll have 1M subs before that happens..... probably. Peace. 833

Hi Dave ☺️
I've got the rare groove pure instrumental cd of their "unseen world" album (comes with a full score) it still totally works.
What more can I say about this? Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things, and it freakin' rocks! 🔥🤘🏻
Not a fan of instrumentals, huh? Well, I'm just thinking about inviting you on a little challenge. There is a band called 'Asterism' that until recently was a pure instrumental band. They have a song in their catalog called "Dawn" that I actually really like to recommend. Especially the live version from April 2019 (Video ID "buQPvINJcA0"). Go in blind without much research. I'm just saying it's a 3-piece band, the lady playing the guitar was 16 at the time, you'll definitely have your fun as a bass lover, and just let the last 2 1/2 - 3 minutes play out without a pause. 😉🤘🏻

@@markabusireactions I'm glad to hear that! The invitation is hereby official, and I already look forward to what you think about it. 👍🏻
Oh, one more piece of info. The song was written by the young lady on the guitar, who goes by the name Haruka (stage name Hal-Ca) when she was 12 years old. :)
@@markabusireactions Yes! Yes you should listen to Asterism and yes, you'll enjoy _this_ challenge, at least.
Mark, you are the best, seriously. You have a unique style and are carving a very distinct niche. Invest in a better camera though mate ;)
😂😂😂 I do need a better camera and a better mic lol, I’m just using a pretty old webcam at the moment. If this channel ever comes to anything, I’ll be using the money to upgrade the equipment. One of the reasons I started the Patreon tbf 😂
@@markabusireactions I think you look and sound fine, personally. You're already doing the hard part, which is saying something interesting, and having a personality. One of my favorite streamers on Twitch uses an old webcam that's broken and makes him look green half the time, but he pulls around 5K viewers at a time, and it's just because his stream is fun. It wouldn't be any more fun if he wasn't green, or if you could count his pores, or his voice were marginally warmer sounding from spending hundreds of dollars on a fancy mic.
I don't know shit about running a reaction channel, but if I had to guess, the best money you could spend right now is on YT Premium, so you don't get your songs interrupted by ads, and after that would probably be hiring an editor, to reduce your effort per reaction, so you could post more.
I'd prioritize a better camera a little higher if you were slightly prettier.
@@daaaaaave hey now! I’m a very beautiful man, sometimes! I need a haircut, I’ll admit.
Editing is the most fun part of these things for me lol, it’s the entire reason I started doing RUclips, so I doubt I would outsource that anytime soon! And i just cancelled RUclips premium on my other channel so I might take it up on this one so I can get the no adverts thing, cause I forgot how annoying they were lol
@@markabusireactions You do look cute sometimes with that little curl that pops out from under your hat.
You could get an editor to just do a first pass, trimming out um's and ah's and whatnot. I don't know what your flow is like, or if that would be worth it at all for you. I trust your judgement.
@@daaaaaave I actually, last week, figured out a way that I could streamline a lot of the editing. The cutting out the ums and pauses takes a little while, but the slight zoom in that I do between shots I’ve now managed to kinda automate, so I’ve shaved a good hour out of every video! And I’m currently trying to learn how to colour grade stuff, it’s fun ☺️
Don't forget to check out 'Without Holding Back' as well as the LIVE version of 'Onset'. Don;t worry about the daily videos. I only watch the BAND-MAID ones anyway, by anyone, not just you. However, I can't believe you haven't gotten to 1000 subs yet. You're easily in my Top 10 Reactors and rapidly rising to #1. Keep it up!
Aw thank you! That’s kinda amazing ☺️☺️
Another great appreciation of Kanami's superb compositional skills. She really lets her guitar become the vocal element in this piece - and it has a very fine voice! There are 3 other instrumentals on their YT channel (Onset live - ruclips.net/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/видео.html, Don't Be Long ruclips.net/video/wnO3NAc0vLw/видео.html and Dawn Winery Theme - ruclips.net/video/-M2EYvqeTdI/видео.htmlsi=1NZwXWBu5zt1a8cF) but there's a few more around on other sites, especially the superb 'white room' studio films of them performing instrumentals of many of their songs which were released as bonuses with DVD's.

Band−Maid 🎸一期一会(ichi-go-ichi-e)⇒This word means ”treasure every encounter、for it will never recur in your life. “ from japan🎌
Watched this on Patreon already, but commenting here for the algorithm.
The guitar work on this one is very technically challenging, without just being wankery. Kanami's an excellent player, but she's a composer first. At some point she said she heard some people didn't like her solos, and she asked the fans, and was like, I can just stop doing solos. She has no ego about it.
I think a lot of what makes them good is their discretion in editing. Band-Maid songs are short, but they're dense. There are a lot of riffs they'll use like once and you'll never hear them again. Nothing gets repetitive and overstays its welcome.
Get Gary and Sayonakidori and stuff taken care of, but after that, I think it would be good to check out Sense or Corallium (from the same single, and both on the Unleash EP). It's more genre blendy and experimental stuff that I think you'd enjoy.
Cheers Daaaaaaaave. I gave you an extra "A" for a great comment :)

@@markabusireactions Yeah you tell 'em Mar....Heeey!🤨
@@GaryHolloway-810 😂😂😂 nah, at this point you’re an OG mate
@daaaaaave, my understanding is that there was an online poll in Japan about guitar solos in general (from all bands). Many people responded that they didn't like them---and some would even skip past them.
Kanami actually commented in the thread and stated, very politely as usual, that she was going to keep including them in her/Band-Maid compositions, not that she would stop including them.
This could have had some effect on the length of her solos. They are typically very short (to the dismay of many fans). She sometimes will include more than one short solo but she seems hyper-aware of overstaying her welcome. She's never played very long solos but there were several longer ones in earlier material. Seems like they've gotten shorter in recent years.
Disclaimer: I'm relatively new to the band--just under a year--but I've heard the whole catalog. Kanami's comments were purportedly quoted directly from that poll/comment thread. Maybe someone else has more accurate information.
Kanami takes the reigns on this one ... one of the best instrumentals I've heard. But before this one, the live version of "Onset" just shows each and every one of them are a force to be reckoned with.
Luv ya work.

The perfect band. Kanami Tono is long established as being an incredible writer and composer. From Now On is the perfect example of that. She has an incredible understanding of music theory and how to "tweak" certain parts to capture and maintain your attention. Band Maid is still way to underrated and also MIncho is underrated as a master composer.
I agree, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them three months ago!
"Am I gonna get bored?" Nah, bro, Kanami's got your back.
I like instrumentals. I like bands like Polyphia amd Animals As Leaders, but like you said there aren't any vocal hooks, ther are no verses, and no story is being told. That's why I love RUSH: they combine great instrumentals with vocals. I stumbled across Band-Maid about two years ago and, at first, I liked what I heard, but I also assumed that farther down the rabbit hole I would find material that was less satidfying. That would be their first album, the one that was all punk-pop songs that were written for them, most of them the members of Band-Maid din't even like. As I listened to more Band-Maid I staerted to realize that their songwriting was improving with time; that they weren't an explosion of talent that dimishes with each succeeding album, but that they were maturing with age and that I should cherish the privilege of watching them ascend the learning curve. I heard "Onset" over a year ago, it blew me away, and I didn't think they could top it. Then they released "From Now On" and that's when my doubts were erased. Band-Maid keeps writing these simple yet interestingly complex songs that stick with you. Their songs have meat on their bones and when they have lyrics, the words have flesh on them, too.
You know, I own a Rush record. But have never heard Rush before 😂

That is also Mincho on piano as well. And you are right. When an instrumental devotes a guitar to replace the vocal line you have something. It is impressive enough that Kanami writes this music but it is also arranged, mixed and produced by the band. Both MISA and Kanami are trained sound techs. They both know their way around a soundboard. That's just a way to say there is no Rick Rubens in the background producing this amazing music.
