    Thanks for your time spent on this video! I just wanted to say, when I changed ink brands in my printer(Brand X) rather than running several ink head cleanings, I found a colorful bubble gum picture on Google and printed it on 8.5x11 regular paper a couple of times and it ran the ink through rather quickly. Just a thought, worked great for me. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!

    I turned my Epson artison 50 into a sublimation printer. Could not believe how well it worked out. I have 2 of them and an older R260 that I used for printing on DVD's in my Video business. But since demand for DVD's is way down, I decided to give it a shot so I wouldn't have to buy another printer. I am now trying to start a sublimation business starting with mugs and see how it goes from there. Anyway, bought empty cartridges, 6 sublimation ink bottles and installed an icc profile. I am amazed how well it worked. I pretty much followed your video (thank you).

    The CISS is a great system, I use one on my 7720 and there's a small learning curve to prime it that manufacturers don't go over. I took a trick out of my automotive clutch bleeding book. You hang the tank somewhere high and fill them up. Let the ink cartridges dangle low and make sure they're nice and straight. Then, one color at a time, use the provided syringe to pull the ink through the bottom of the cartridge. Don't stop when ink starts coming out, get a full syringe worth then put it back in the tank. As long as you don't let the tanks run dry, you shouldn't have any problems. But you're right, the tubing can be very sketchy flying back and forth at a million miles an hour lol, just follow manufacturer directions on securing tubing to your printer.

    You are the first person I have found online that said exactly why you should install the epson ink cartridges FIRST on a brand new printer, before the sub cartridges. Thank You!

    I am so glad I found this! I am planning ahead because I'm probably going to have to leave my job in the next year. I was thinking about doing vinyl, regular and HTV, because I've got a Cameo. I went to a festival recently where a woman had sublimation products and it blew me away! I figured it would be insanely expensive to start, but it doesn't seem like it will be. Thanks again for the tips!

    Debbie, this is another excellent tutorial. I do have a question about the refillable cartridges. You noted the plastic 'tape' on the bottom of the cartridge should not be removed because the printer pierces it before use. What about when you refill the cartridge for subsequent refills? Does the pierced hole make a difference? Also, what size will the scanner scan? Also 13 x 19? Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences. Diane

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад

      Yes, the pierced plastic doesn’t matter beyond that. Just keep using the cartridges. The scanner isn’t quite as big as the print size. It scans up to 11x17”

    Hi and thank you for your tutorial very helpful and well presented. I have a wf2830 I bought from Wal-Mart for $99 for what I do it's perfect. The only suggestion would be for people like me with uncompetitive hands is to leave the fill plugs in until they are installed. I dropped a cartridge in the compartment and spilled some ink luckily no were to cause damage. I removed the plugs after they were installed. Thank you.

The problem is that they sold out and now Wala Inks sells ONLY the huge bottles which I cannot use (just a home hobbyist). Do you have any other suggestions regarding this? Hello, great informational video. You say the bottom tray will not have all the settings on the 7720, Can you just move the tray up to the top and change the paper size if it is different like you mention 8.5 x 11 on top and 13x19 on bottom? Or are the trays physically different not allowing the trade?
    Thank you.

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад +1

      No, the trays are not interchangeable. You might be able to forcibly out the larger tray in the top slot, but it won’t let you change the paper size accordingly.

      @@carlenewilliams5467 I got my Ciss at proinkshop.com. It was already full of ink and primed. I had mine almost a month and have done a lot of printing every day and I never have trouble getting air in the lines. It comes with a damper in the ink tanks and a damper in the cartridges themselves. When you receive your Ciss and if you have a lot of trouble getting air in the lines order a damper off of ebay and hook it on the line close to the ink tank and that should cure your problem. You can get a damper pretty cheap between 5 to 10 dollars.

      You don’t have to do head cleanings unless you are having problems with your ink. Even then, aside from the initial setup, I don’t recommend doing more than 3 in a row. If it still won’t unclog, then move onto a different method. This video covers the other methods I try. ruclips.net/video/2sNtZwTs01c/видео.html

    By the way you can use standard paper to sublimate on the frosted side of that plastic mylar by taping the printed paper face down on it with heat tape and then heat pressing it which you will have to play with to get it how you want but it will make permanent stencils instead of you having to spend an arm and a leg for mylar sheets. I don't know if anyone else does that but it's something i did on my own and it worked!! I didn't print directly to it to try to sublimate it on anything though but hey i had the idea i might try it!!

      No, not that I know of. Most inkjet printers use heat in their printing process. The heat is harmful to the ink if it causes it to heat up before you are ready to press your transfer. You need to use printers that do not use heat in their printing process, and Epson is one of the few.

      The maintenance box will be find for a long time. You have to print a lot to wear that out. It happens though. It just depends on how much you print. I haven’t printed enough to have any issues with mine.

    The colored cartridges are auto priming carts, but the black with that round hole has to be primed: that is static air and should be removed. Otherwise massive cleaning cycles are needed to remove the air from the print head. That round hole should be filled with ink after priming.

    Can you use the 3720 EPSON printer refillable cartridges for sublimation. And if so where can I purchase the cartridges refillable cartridges. Thank you

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад +1

      If you can find refillable cartridges for that model, the you should have no issues converting it. The trick is usually finding the cartridges. There aren’t always refillable cartridges available for all models. You would have to look online. I get my ink from Cosmos Ink. I would look there first. www.debbiedoesdesign.com/cosmos

    This video has help me tremendously but purchasing cosmo ink in usd and shipped to me in Canada will cost a fortune. Do you have a list of other sublimation inks that can still use the stock epson profile? I may find some at a Canadian supplier. My wife also uses the Cameo silhouette and this is a gift and I'd like it to work as seamlessly as possible.

    I just bought a used Epson Workforce 3640. Filled new empty cartridges with sublimation ink, did print head cleaning and the red, blue and yellow aren't showing up at all now on print head cleaning.
    Is this normal?

    I have the 7610 would that work for sublimation?
    Also, can you switch back and forth from sublimation ink to regular ink? I use my printer for regular, business and crafting lol so just wondering how that would work or if I need to get a whole separate printer for sublimation

    • @millenniastudios5398
      @millenniastudios5398 4 года назад +1

      The Cosmo Ink should work for 7610 as well, but it's recommended to have a whole separate printer for sublimation. As you can see the labor involved to switch between inks and ensure inks aren't mixing and nozzle heads are clean. Debbie Does Design Co. always provides helpful information, so I am just paying it forward by responding to a few questions on here, so these are just my opinions on having 1 printer for Sub and 1 for regular business use. I would recommend your 7610 for regular printing and investing in a 7720 for Sublimation since it can hold more paper and print long sheets.

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад

      Yes, what Millennia Studios said, you don;t want to be switching them back and forth. It’s a lot of stress to put on the printer and won’t last you as long as it should by doing that. And yes, that model should work. You just need to find the appropriate cartridges for that exact model.

    I just bought a WF-7840 printer. Are you using the regular sublimation ink or the fluorescent sublimation ink in the video?

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад

      Just the regular sublimation ink. I haven’t used the fluorescent. You need to have a 2nd printer dedicated to the fluorescent ink if you want to go that route. It’s not good for the printer to switch back and forth.

    Do you have to get specific sublimation ink for your printer? I have the epson xp-4501. Also, is there a specific syringe that is needed. I order refillable cartridges but forgot to get syringes.

    • @ashleycoleman5763

      They should come with syringes and single use plastic gloves

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад

      No, you don’t need a specific brand, although some brands are not as good as others. I recommend Cosmos Ink. The syringes usually come with the ink, but you don’t need a special syringe. I’ve heard some people get syringes from a drug store like Walgreens.

    Hello I'm about to set up my brand me WF 7720. I heard alot of people say if your going to use the printer for sublimation to turn OFF automatic firmware updates and do not update them at any point. Is this for the manufacture ink as well right at the beginning? I am planning to start with manufacturers ink to make sure the printer works before I switch to sublimation. Thanks so much.

    • @DebbieDoesDesign
      @DebbieDoesDesign  2 года назад +2

      I have not turned off firmware updates intentionally on mine so I can let people know if any of them cause issues and so far none of the firmware updates have created any problems for me. If you want to play it safe, it won’t hurt anything to turn them off. But I would at least let it update the very first time as sometimes it needs those updates to function properly during the initial install.

    • @DebbieDoesDesign

      You need the air vents open. Sometimes I keep them in while I’m filling the cartridges up just to help avoid spills but remove them once I get the cartridges into the printer.
