After reading all of your comments, I realize I got "had" by marketing. This PX4 was labeled and promoted as an LTT at the shop, came with an LTT card, and an LTT sticker. The box was also incorrectly labeled "G" not "G-SD" even though the SKU lines up with an SD. I thought this was an LTT PX4-G not a Beretta "in collaboration with LTT but not actually an LTT" PX4 G-SD that does not come with the LTT trigger bar that would shorten trigger reset. An actual LTT would have a reset similar to the 92, thus erasing one of my major criticisms. If anything, I hope this reinforces that I am a consumer just like you not some shill reviewer. I make mistakes in the shop, too. I hope my mistake will help save someone else from getting this with the understanding that it is a true LTT product. Sorry for the misunderstanding everyone.

@@NightwoodGuns I almost got had with this as well when I bought my PX4. PSA had one labeled as “LTT” . I dislike that Langdon lets them do this as it can be very confusing. Luckily I did a bit more research when I bought mine and figured it out and ordered direct from Langdon. If you do the trigger upgrade you will enjoy it much more.

  • @rt1326

If you didn't buy this directly from LTT, then the gun is just the new G-SD model that Beretta sells. It is collaborative with LTT but this is a Beretta offering and comes with an improved DA pull, different controls, and their new thicker PX4 barrel. LTT takes the G-SD and further customizes it in house with their trigger bar/job/hammer spring and other customizable features.
I grabbed one of the new G-SD models at a local show and I think this gun looks badass. After shooting it, it's one of my favorites. stippled the frame and now it's even better. I also ordered the LTT trigger bar and installed it, the reset is now similar to a LTT Beretta 92.

I''ve been a mechanical tech nerd for nearly half a century. I bought my PX4 just for the oddity of the rotating barrel. Then I did an LTT Trigger Job in a Bag, and it is now the full size in my EDC rotation. Full size with the weight of some subcompacts but shoots WAY better than any subcompact. The ergos are the main reason I like it so much. It is just comfortable in the hand. Plenty accurate and NATO certified, so it will run +P's all day long. Now if they will just release an update with an optic cut and a better light rail.

I'm guessing Brett didn't get the trigger bar, or the new PX4 trigger bars just suck. If he did have the trigger bar, it would have put his reset really close to his 92. While LTT's trigger job work does help with reset, it's their trigger bar that makes the biggest difference on the reset.

Brett, I have had the PX4 Compact Carry 2 for a couple of weeks now, about 400 rounds so far. Mine is form Beretta, not Langdon Tactical, but has some of the improvements suggested by Langdon. I just checked my reset, and I am happy to say it is about 3-4 millimeters. The upgraded LTT trigger bar advertised as improving trigger pull and reset. Might be worth considering...I didn't care for the bobbed hammer, so I installed a skeletonized OEM. Since I am a Lefty, I have a right side slide lever on the way. Glad to hear yours loosened up, because mine is unusable so far. Good review.

My edc is the compact variant of this pistol. It's amazing, the difference you feel when you go between that and almost any other carry pistol out there. My old edc was the P01, which is a great shooter, but even that didn't behave like the Beretta. I've been running Talon grips for over a year so far, and I do edc and train with it. Have had no issues with it as of yet. Think a lot of the issues come from how they're installed. Also heard that they've redone they're adhesive formula. Vedder holster, new sights, and ready to go.

He's back!!! This review reflects my experience of the PX4 very well, EXCEPT for the reset. Something is definitely going on with the PX4 you bought. Either your model doesn't have the LTT trigger bar, LTT forgot the trigger bar, or LTT changed more than the finish on the new trigger bars. I run both a vertec 92 w the full NP3 TJIaB and a full size PX4 w the older discontinued NP3 TJIaB. The reset on both are extremely close in distance, but the 92 marginally a little crisper.
If you purchased a model w trigger bar, I would def reach out to LTT. The newer TJIaB no longer have the Beretta competition trigger groups, or the NP3 trigger bars... But that shouldn't affect the reset that much.

My edc and competition gun since 2018. Def not overhyped and reportedly a frequent top seller for Beretta. LTT work is nice but not necessary in my experience. Sights, decockers and a D spring in a base model is all you need. I will say an “A1” with better grip texture like the APX would be great.

Good information on this video. I bought my PX4 carry 2 a few months ago. The description stated that its an LTT collaboration, so I knew it was not an LTT tuned pistol. I did have numerous FTF in my first two range sessions. Had to clean and grease heavily for it to run without issues. The felt recoil is definitely minimal. It shoots very smooth. So my advice if you buy one of these from one of the big box stores, definitely strip, thoroughly clean and lube with grease on the barrel and slide. Your experience will be much better first time at the range.

In the end of the day its a real outstanding reliable 9 mm but for a particular hand size. Something perfect for 5 feet 10 guys and over. A 357 SIG version with a gas paddle attached to the rail would be my absolute favourite gun till the end of my life. Romanian police forces have it too as a regular non LTT service gun. Before that they had "carpati" they even couldn t punch a hole into a SUV tyre, the weak bullets often ricochet and hit random people. "Carpati" was a real piece of art.

I have the PX4 Storm Compact Carry with the LTT trigger that has a very short reset, it's a phenomenal pistol that I love to shoot. I agree with the problem with the smooth textured frame being TOO smooth but it came with the Talon Grips which I don't mind and takes care of that problem. The other big gripe is the stealth decocker being too small to get any purchase, so I replace that with the low profile version that is MUCH easier to actuate. Great honest review of one of my favorite pistols!

  • @terrymoss758

Thanks for clarifying the issue if was an LTT gun or not. I have several PX4s Compacts from LTT, the older versions do not have the optimized trigger bar that the one I bought earlier this year has. The reset is noticeably different, but I can shoot them both the same with a little practice. As far as you missing shots due to the reset, I’ve never had that issue with any of myPX4s. I’ve been shooting Ernest Langdon Trigger jobs for over 23 years, the 92 is an impeccable platform, but I’ve grown to love the PX4 Compact every bit as much as my LTT 92s. Btw, so has Ernest Langdon….
If you want to demo how fast you can shoot the gun, I recommend using 2-4 inch circles and a shot timer from 5-7 yards. You find there is really no difference when accuracy is factored in…

Your review is very fair. Talon, or other, grips are absolute necessities. I just accept that I have to replace them regularly. In my style of shooting, I do not ride the reset. For me, it is much faster to instantly release the trigger beyond the reset and return to the wall to prep the trigger. I do take exception to your swipe at the USP. I wondered about the trigger bar and the reset, watching the video. That's the big "sell" for the bar. When you clean the gun, use a quality, high temp gun grease. Oil won't cut it with the rotating barrel. You'll have problems eventually getting the gun to cycle completely. I got this info from Beretta customer service when my gun wouldn't completely go into battery. Since then, 3,000+ rounds later, I have had ZERO problems. Enjoy your gun! Good video!

Great review Brett. It might've not been a LTT LTT but at least you got to try out that heavy barrel which everyone is hyping up and throwing the term "cheat code" around for 🙄 I had a PX4 10+ years ago, was impressed, but not enough to keep it. I'm tempted to give the G-SD a try, but can't help but feel I won't dig it. I'll be honest, when watching your slow-mo, I think it seems to porpoise/oscillate a lot when you shoot it fast, so perhaps its return-to-zero isn't as good as I expected. I definitely believe you when you say it's a super soft shooter, though, even I got that impression with my old standard model way back when. As for the grip's lack of texture... it's a damn shame, we know Beretta's way too lazy to update it. Gonna have to wait for a new model PX4 at this point - not gonna happen. No shame in using goon tape, and at least stick-on grips like Handleit's have gotten pretty good.
As for nerd shit... this thing was a head-popping machine with Jill in RE5 Mercenaries. I always liked the way it looked, Beretta's futuristic styling back in the early-mid 2000s was wild (I bought a CX4 recently, always wanted one as a kid). I remember seeing an ad for the PX4 in a magazine: "Forget Gucci, forget Prada... this is the real Italian fashion." Damn, that's a statement. If the model in this video is the PX4-SD, that is a stock gun direct from Beretta. It is not tuned by LTT. It has the LTT trigger bar, a lighter hammer spring, a lighter trigger spring and I believe some polished internals. Beretta just made the gun according to the advice by Langdon, like the upgraded decocker levers, the cerakote job, the bright front sight, heavy profile barrel (40SW barrel, which is chambered for 9mm and I think the hammer is upgraded as well. But it's not "tuned" by LTT. Those guns are $1600 and quite different. For under $700, this Beretta stock PX4 SD is one of the most amazing stock hammer fired guns on the market. The reset is not an issue for a duty gun, at least for me.

While I own a PX4 Storm Compact with upgraded trigger and hammer springs, Vantage Point Compensator and optical sight, I admit that it is not my EDC, due mainly to carry weight (37.6 oz loaded). It is, however, my Sunday-go-to-meeting gun due to its accuracy. In a crowded church environment where accuracy is critical, I need THE most accurate concealable handgun. The Beretta PX4 is that gun for me. I have plenty of other guns to choose from, but for some crazy reason, I shoot the PX4 better than all of them. I cannot say why this is true, but it is. I can shoot it faster with greater accuracy than any of my Sigs, Springfields, Walthers, Smith and Wessons, Caniks, etc, etc, etc. At the active shooter training courses I've taken, the 80 to 100 yard parking lot shots were no problem.

Hey, Brett, as always, great review! For the reset issue, I'm wondering if your gun came with the Langdon optimized trigger bar. I have two PX4s, one that has been Langdon-ized and one that hasn't, and the reset on your gun definitely looks more akin to a stock trigger bar. On my LTT gun, I have the match hammer and optimized trigger bar with the 10 lb hammer spring which gives me about a 6 lb DA pull and about a 2 lb SA. Per Langdon, the match hammer also shortens the SA reset, maybe not an apples to apples comparison depending on how your gun was configured, but yeah, the reset on your gun definitely appears very long for an LTT tuned pistol. If you don't have the optimized trigger bar in your gun, would definitely be curious to see if you added one how you think it stacks up against your LTT 92 at that point. Thanks for the great content!

I'd love to see Beretta make 8000 (Cougar) series again.

Ok man. Shoot me straight here....in terms of recoil and smoothness, how does this compare to your ltt 92 without porting or comp and a shadow 2?

      @NightwoodGuns  5 месяцев назад +1

@@willy4869 I would say recoil impulse is better than a 92 (without a doubt) and comparable to a Shadow 2.

@NightwoodGuns that is insane that the rotating mechanism works that well. I guess I'll have to send Langdon some doll hairs.

I really wonder when the other companies will dabble with the rotating barrel system. I know Glock did but we never got it. 🤔
Looking forward to the platypus video!!!! I’m HYPE

I think it got dropped because does it actually make a practical difference? Like, would you win a gunfight you would have lost just by having a rotating barrel in your gun? 😅 I imagine the engineering to make it dependable would be a headache, too. So companies go with the cheaper and easier design. It’s part of what makes the PX4 so noteworthy, though. They actually committed to it.
And yeah, dude. The Platy is 2nd in the queue. It’ll be soon! 🙌

Grips are not a big deal. Plenty of aftermarket grips to choose from. Florida boy and lose my grip with sweat, no matter what stock grips come with a new gun
