I am a kindle user that just bought a Kobo Forma and boy, the Forma is amazing, I love the software better than Kindle, the screen lights, love that it when you stop reading the device goes in sleep mode with the cover of the book I am reading. In general, it seems the Kobo software is designed by readers. The integration with OverDrive and Pocket is great, but it is possible to use overdrive and pocket on Kindle with a Chrome browser extension. On another hand, I like better the ecosystem of Kindle because I can upload or email any book, I buy outside Amazon, directly into my kindle device and centralized storage, and when I read that book from any of my kindle devices, it syncs the last position with all of them. Why I own several kindles? Because some times I want to use the text-2-voice feature on the Kindle Keyboard 3. So, I love the Forma, I can't live without the Kindle Ecosystem whispersync feature.
Actually, it's quite understandable that he reviews both because they're both released in 2018 with rather near release dates. Although the oasis is of a similar size and the kobo forma is to rival it, I think the review and comparison is understandable! As a consumer, I was contemplating between getting the kobo forma and the kindle paperwhite since they were both released this year. Irregardless, its good to know what Amazon and Kobo are churning out lately and how they compare :)
I thought the same thing but the other comment is correct, the Oasis is a 2017 model... But they are more similar in design. I like that design with the "handle" to hold it...awesome!
@@jerinetan4875 hi :) but I don't think the fact that they were released the same year is a cricital point to consider when buying a product. To compare two products it would make sense for them to have similar characteristics, so that we can understand the nuances and make a choice :)
Shouldn't use the term "back lit" for these ereaders. Tablets and Kindle Fire are back lit and it makes them hard to read in daylight, and causes eye strain over time. These have side lighting, and are much more like reading a real book, and don't cause eye strain. It's an important distinction.
The Kobo is a way better choice as it supports downloading all e-reading file types and most text files available, so you are not locked to a single store like with the kindle. If you are like me and already own thousands of ebooks and want to access them, get the Kobe.... So with the Kobe you have access to all the ebooks in the entire world.... With Kindle you are looked to Amazon and that stupid file format of theirs.. Don't get the Kindle, unless you actually like to be f***d by big corps.
If your a casual user then you get all your books for Amazon anyways so it doesn’t matter. Even then you’re complaining about 2 file formats (ePub vs mobi) that you might not be able to run if you decide to leave Amazon devices. They both run pretty much the same things. Either way you’re making a big deal over nothing. If you are tech savvy then you can use calibre to convert your files. If Amazon were ever to shut down there’s 100% chance that there are bigger problems in the world than you losing your ebooks. You pay for convenience and quality with Amazon. Google Kobo customer support. It’s abysmal. I seriously hope yours and no one else that took your comment seriously and actually bought a kobo device has problems.
If you have a computer you can download a free program called Calibre that will let you convert your epub files to mobi files that will work with the Kindle.

You should compare Kobo Forma to the Kindle Oasis that it seems the proper thing to do. They're comparable. Not the Paperwhite.

True
$279 Kobo Forma FOR THE 8gb model and I picked up a 32 GB Kindle Paperwhite for $130 without adds.
You can actually see the much-discussed screen-flicker issue of the Kobo Forma in this video.
I didn't notice any flicker at all
If it does have then it must be very disturbing since it gets in the way of reading

Here is how the hacker hacked printer to print subscribe to pewdiepie
you can actually see the kobo screen flickering because of PWM backlight, with the kindle not flickering at all , such as 4:30
Yes I also think that Kindle has better screen than kobo
So weird seeing an ebook refresh on a video.
Forgot to mention the VioceView feature of the Kindle. I don´t think Kobo offers that.

Dude, how do you not see those flickering lines on the screen of the Kobo Forma? That would bug the hell out of me.
He chose not to talk about it. It would drive me crazy as well!
If you buy it from Amazon Canada it will support Bluetooth?
Yes, the device comes standard with Bluetooth regardless of where you buy it from.
Does kobo forma use a stylus
Sir, pls can u make a video about Oppo K1 review pls?
I have a paperwhite ... what a piece of junk, reading pdf in this is impossible ...
hmm.. "lets compare apples to oranges"
Upgraded From Paperwhite 2nd Gen to 4th Gen
Still the Same - Slow Speed, Big Bezel, No Type C, Thickness, No Dark Mode (Ugly Inverted Mode Only).
The battery on the Kindle is 1500 mAh.
Can I put all the ebook and epub files i already have on my laptop with a usb cable on those devices?
If you have a computer you can download a free program called Calibre that will let you convert your epub files to mobi files that will work with the Kindle.
