I am a paper crafter and a newbie to machine embroidery... what I would also suggest is using Watercolour paper to stitch out the design and then to cut that out and stick to a standard card base. Works amazing and I've done that with a few DBJJ cardstock designs on a flatbed V3 :)
I’ve been making cards using embroidery for several years. I do not use only designs for cards, but I watch a stitch out in my software first. You can use just the outline of a filled design successfully. Thanks for great tips.
Becky, thank you for doing this video. While you may not be a paper crafter, you showed us more possibilities with embroidery. I love how you’re always trying new things!
Likewise, thank you for this tutorial. I've watched the portion of assigning needle bars to colors several times, have a 6 needle Brother and am terrified of trying to assign colors. You make everything so simple, you speak so clearly and have such a pleasant voice (and I love that you don't have a ton of hand movements). You're the genuine article! Blessings to you and yours.
Thanks for this tutorial Becky - it's great and so helpful. I plan on making lots of cards (first time ever) this year on my Brother SE1900. I'm also not a paper crafter but I love to embroider. So many great tips!
GREAT video! Thanks so much for sharing this! I just use a bone folder like what we sewers use to crease fabric. Works great on paper, too. I have made sewn greeting cards in the past, and just embroider on lightweight fabric and then stitch around the edge to attach it to the actual card stock, or use some type of spray glue.
Thank you Becky, I had only been looking at RUclips last night to find out how to do this on card stock. Someone suggested using the Scan N Cut to write a message/poem/Christmas greeting on the inside of the card and then just sign. I will be trying making my own cards in the future.
i love making embroidered greeting cards! I use cheap craft felt and watercolor paper. I trim the felt away after the frame outline, so the frame stitches over the edge, applique-style.
That is Beautiful!!! I am glad you mentioned on Joanne's show last night that you were making the cards. I have always wanted to try them, but never have!! Thank you for the Tutorial!!!!
So glad you posted this. yes I know the difference in card stock after buying thin paper stock and then quality card stock. we learn as we go. Grandkids get to create with the thin stuff. lol
So glad you did this video. I’ve been on edge on doing this, even bought paper and a ton of Juju designs, but just wasn’t sure how to do it. Thank you for courage you gave me. I’m ready to jump in
Once again Becky you are da bomb! I have stitched cards before but did not know all the tips you showed. Very helpful as I also am not a paper crafter.
@@PowerToolsWithThread I couldn't believe that RUclips would work. I thought you could only watch items from Qantas' in flight programmes. Such amazing technology.
Your card turned out very cute! I have done this a few times and I have been pleasantly surprised at the variety of designs out there for different holidays. I have found some on Embroidery Library, too. I love that website as well as JUJU's.
I love this idea as I am a former paper crafter. However, I found a few designs had too many stops and starts within each color. . I also stitched on a piece of card stock and then attached to the card front. I also liked the designs from OESD.
Thank you for the video! I’ve been wanting to try this and have been hesitant. My card turned out very nice in the end but it took a while to finish. The thread kept coming out of the needle at the beginning of the individual parts. I’d have to stop, rethread and start again. I used tear away stabilizer, OESD card paper and spay glue to adhere the paper to the stabilizer. Any idea why this might be happening? I’m using a Solaris machine. I also tried a different needle. Thank you!
Mine was doing the same thing after my husband was playing around on the machine and pressing buttons not knowing what he was doing. :) Check on your machine to make sure that the knot is tying properly at the beginning of the stitch. On my PR1055, there are two buttons side by side that look like .---- and ---. That's the knot at the beginning and the knot at the end. They have to be activated.
I hesitate to say an exact weight because not everyone can get every weight and there's no specific weight that can only be used. 80 lb. works great but many also say 65 lb. works well. I've found a more generalized description works to accommodate most viewers unless a definite single item is truly best. Thanks for watching!
I'm newbie to this.. but a seasoned paper crafter.. and from what I've read online is that Redwork designs work great on cardstock. If you have some then just have a go at it :)

I’ve made some using good quality watercolour paper and then stuck it to the front of a card. Works lovely!

I like to use watercolour paper . It works great!
Great tutorial, Becky. I have made cards on my single needle Brother and they came out great. I like those designs by JuJu.❤

Excellent video and just in time. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Becky you can use double side scotch tape it does a better job because sometimes the glue makes some bumps. Have a nice day
Thanks for the tip!
Very informative thanks.
Nice informative video, Becky. Thanks.

I'm watching this video at about 30,000 ft somewhere over the Queensland coastline. Great info. Thanks Becky.
That is awesome!

I think you can buy double stick tape in rollers for paper crafting that would hold the red piece in nicely. I love making cards like that.
I just bought a multi needle machine waiting for delivery. trying to decide what to try first. this is perfect thank you
yes

Thanks you for sharing 😊
I have been eagerly waiting for this video. As always.. Thank you for all the great information to be successful. Just ordered my supplies.
I have used fabric scraps to cover the back looks great, use a fancy scissors cut.
Great idea!
Just love this can't wait to make some Thank you Becky!
Thanks much for this video. I want to try this technique- your info is great
So cute. Boy, embroidery has come a long way. What glue are you using to attach the backing?

For paper, just give the weight, I.e., 80 lb, to properly describe it.

Thank you for this tutorial! Would Redwork Designs work on cards?
I'm newbie to this.. but a seasoned paper crafter.. and from what I've read online is that Redwork designs work great on cardstock. If you have some then just have a go at it :)
Yes, as long as they aren’t too heavily digitized.
thank you for the great information! May I ask what frame you are using for your PR1055?
I think I was using the DIME magnetic 8 1/2 x 14.
Please tell us what brand is the larger pack of paper you showed and where to purchase it. Thank you for your video!
That is from Amazon and I have a link to it in my Amazon store. Check the Embroidery Favorites. www.amazon.com/shop/powertoolswiththread
What size sharp needle do you recommend for stitching on paper?
I used a 75/11 Organ needle.
What hoop are you using?

What glue is used please???
Any glue stick or double-sided tape is fine.
Unfortunately the video has no voice
Everything seems fine on this end. You might double check.
