As soon as Vince decided he wanted to sell the company, he was never gonna last much longer. He knew that, everyone knew that. So it doesn’t matter who let him go
He had some pretty stout contract terms in the board role that was basically him being on the board until he died basically but of course had clauses to terminate him with good cause. But I don’t think he truly planned on being back for the long haul. Nick Khan was hired to make an eventual sale happen which was always going to be prior to getting new TV deals. Hence why they set him up for absurd amounts of inducement bonuses from the very start to get him to come on board and dwarf what anybody else earns. And it was largely because their deals had gotten so high they needed to seek a new arrangement because it was gonna be tough to last. They saw stock declines on these new deals and they were an immense amount more than before. As for staying on they probably made that call because it’s easier to have him in an honorary job and under your thumb than setting him free to be a headache. But he killed that lasting any longer.
Can we maybe wait until more information is available before we start making assumptions about who knew what Vince was doing? All I’ve heard for days now is “oh this person knew” and “that person definitely knew” and it’s all coming from people online who haven’t spent one second working for WWE, including Meltzer and Alvarez. No one knows for sure until this is investigated properly. I absolutely believe that anyone who did know what was going on should be held accountable, but I see all these names of people who are being thrown under the bus without any factual evidence being brought to light, it’s becoming a borderline witch hunt.

Vince being appointed to the TKO board probably sealed the deal with Emmanuel , instead of say, going with the Saudi offer for the WWE . I'm sure they wanted to get rid of McMahon as soon as they could and were planning on getting rid of Vince from the moment Endeavor dangled the TKO board carrot.
