First person to explain it thanks man
Yessir thank you! 💪🏽
A little trade secret from someone who’s been in hotshot for a year next time if possible place the heavy part of your load if possible towards the front of the trailer so most of the weight will be on your drives which can scale 14k it’s all a balancing act you were well below the 26,001 mark just a tip
good information bro
Good info bro
- Hey JB, what is the “CARRYING CAPACITY” listed on your trailer registration?
How about a short bed 3500 mega cab without a bed on it … 2016 ?
What truck and trailer are you using for this video ? .. 17980 is not bad at all with you you still being able to carry 8k
Yes sir 9” max
Since you have some driving in the ram done, which dually do you think is best? The ram or the ford?
Too soon to tell.
@@David-td5po how is it too soon? I think he’s drove from Atlanta to Missouri to Chicago with multiple loads?
@@TheIncredibleHoosier Ford hands down
@@jamesnelson5700 I like the ford dually also. I’m currently trying to decide what to get. I’m leaning towards the ford.
I've been debating between a ram and a ford myself. I keep hearing the ford is smoother when pulling but I test drove both and I felt every bump in the 350. Did I simply test the wrong one?
Yo what truck were you in when you were overweight? i see the dodge emblem im about to get a ram 3500 but im debating between getting a 3500 or a 2500. im not sure about what trailer to get with a 3500 as most of the gvwr's on the trailer plus the truck being 14000 will put me over the 26000 mark. Any suggestions?
I think a chassis cab is best 2015 3500
What is the average weight you tow doing hot shot
If your trailer derated u can’t scale that much
10k is about normal for non cdl. But the longer the trailer the less payload. My 30ft trailer I can scale 10k. My 40ft is about 8k-9k
Except that your trailer cannot exceed 10,000 lbs. and seeing as your final scale has 10,620 lbs. on the trailer, you either need to shift the load to put more weight on the truck or remove some weight from the trailer to 10,000 lbs. or less, or you’ll be in violation.
Doesn’t apply to everyone and every state. There’s like 3 or 4 states that follow that and usually it’s for residents of that state. From what I’ve been told. It doesn’t help that none of the DOT officers can even agree on things
So they don't go by your gross weight combination? For instance your truck is 14k and trailer is 12k . If your trailer weight is 6k empty you are now left with 6k to carry . Isnt that how it's supposed to be.. I might be wrong . Like my set up my truck is 3500 single wheel over is 12300 so am only left with 13700 for the trailer and because my trailer weighs 6500 then I can only put 7200lbs on the trailer
When you go to a weight station some have scales and if your over 26,000 they will flag you if your a non cdl. But I wanna say someone with a single wheel can haul more than someone with a daully. Just be safe and weigh yourself empty to find what you can scale.
I was told by one dot they only look at combination as well. But we all know it’s always a different story from each dot officer
Its the gross of both vehicles can't be over 26k
You subtract the curb weight of both vehicles from 26k pounds and that is the weight you can haul.
Brother that's crazy, I really thought you would've came back with your CDL. Those tiptoe non cdl loads are not worth the headache and hassle of always wondering if you're overweight. Plus you are really limiting yourself with only 8k lbs to play around with.
I make it work. Can’t get a cdl yet. So I’m forced to continue doing non cdl. Not tripping. Been doing well with the non cdl setup
@JBTRUCKN facts in the same boat I'm trying gain the experience so when I do get my cdl I'm not new to it.
