    Similar to the lungs.. When I first got a 3D printer (Anycubic Photon Mono SE) I did my first print with the printer on my modelling bench in my bedroom, I thought it smelt a bit bad so I opened a window but thought I could still sleep in there. I woke up at around 1 am dashed to the bathroom and vomited for around half an hour. I now keep the printer in the loft. Make sure you always have ventilation when working with chemicals, especially paint and resin!

    • @NightShiftScaleModels
      @NightShiftScaleModels  2 года назад +8

      That's interesting, lots of people are talking about this but honestly, I never felt anything or smelled anything bad, and I have the 3D printer right next to me... it just has no odor. Or my lungs are already way beyond saving :D

    You should make the wooden trench "wall" cracked and bent on impact of the tank, so it adds more weight to the tank and make it feel a bit more alive.

      I would agree - great voice and friendly tone. This is part of the model making for me... it's an opportunity to leave the 'normal' world for a much simpler and safer place. My other thing is cycling - try to get 10 miles in a day, helps to come down and the fresh air and sunlight are good for you. Finally, turn OFF the news on TV - it's 99% garbage in any respect. I haven't watched terrestrial TV in 7 years now.

    Man, those weathering techniques are wonderful. When you painted those walking planks with gray, I was like "nooo, you're making it worse". Then, as you made an exposed fresh wood imitation, it suddenly came to like and became much better than ever before. And there was a ton of moments like that in all of this video.

    Awesome work there!!! I adore WWI tanks and vignettes/dioramas because I love the quirkiness of the WWI tanks because they were all unique and weird since they were all developed from scratch and they still didn't really know/understand how to use the tanks on the battlefield apart from going over trenches, and I love making trenches and totally destroyed landscape because - both it's so unreal to even begin to fathom how on earth anyone could've survived the horrors but also because of all the details you need to create making said environment, all scratch built from materials and no quick 3D printer to help saving time... I frankly wish there were more WWI tanks so I could make more variants but I've made most of them already apart from Little Willie, but I'm about 70% there in CAD so eventually I'm going to be able to make one of them as well, albeit not in a battlefield setting since there were only one prototype without any armaments, but I plan to make a small vignette, or diorama, from the field trials. That should be pretty fun to build as well!
    Many thanks for sharing your work and processes! Great for both inspiration and entertainment! Way better than anything on TV anyway! ;)

  • @CNSFX
    @CNSFX 2 года назад

    Awesome result!
    Suggestion for you for that last touch… if you look at the tank sitting there it looks like it either just happened or it was placed there. The way to fix that is with a weathering step to create streaks matching the resting position. On our SFX models I weathered them in static and dynamic positions. A plane spends most of its life sitting on a tarmac so the weathering should be mostly vertical with some flying streaking. Depending on this relationship it tells the story of the use of the plane and environment. So on this tank if you weather it further in it’s resting position it will look like it’s been there for at least a few days in the rainy muddy battlefield.
    With a studio model I mixed water based paints with soapy water and misted it on and let it dry to get the streaks looking very natural. At this small scale it can be done with water and a very fine paint as well. I used house paints before, cheap and easy. Great work and interesting subject!
