  • After testing out the Bean I decided to try slicing a model with the built-in SLAcer. The model I used is the Christmas bauble from Siemens MSL, and released by Joel Telling, the 3D Printing Nerd.

Thanks for coming out! I promise to get some more content posted as soon as possible. Maybe I'll start with a tour of the new shop!

Hi there, just found your video - may I ask, would you say it's worth getting this machine or am I better off with something more modern like the anycubic photon? How satisfied are you with the print results, the firmware / aka menu? Thanks.

Thanks for watching! The Bean is a cool printer for hobbyists. It requires some tinkering to get the bed totally level and to dial in the print settings, and the interface is only available via a network connection (wired Ethernet by default). I was hoping to use it for printing high resolution parts for customers of HartSmart Products (not just as a hobby) and I don't think it's very well suited for that. I ended up buying a FormLabs Form 3 and have been quite happy with it, but obviously that's a significantly more expensive system that's hard to justify if it's not a business expense. I'll now be selling my Bean.

Hello! For FDM I primarily use Simplify3D and for SLA I have been using the built-in slicer called SLAcer for my Bean resin printer. I don't sell resin at this time, but thanks for asking, and for watching!

    How long did that take?

Hi, and thanks for watching! I don't recall exactly how long it took, but it was several hours. The layer height is .05mm (5 microns) so that's a lot of layers to print!
