    Hello sir, I have a Garmin Lmt-D with an incorporated dashcam for several years. It is a good device but I have a problem with the volume of the spoken instructions. The volume is at maximum but not loud enough. Before this I had a TomTom and both were BT. The big difference was that I could connect a BT speaker to the TomTom to hear the instructions loud and clear. The Garmin does not have the BT in this direction, only from a cellphone to the Garmin.
    Can I change the BT-direction of the Garmin or is the only way to open the Garmin and connect an external amplifier directly to the speaker in de Garmin?
    Thank you so much for your help.
    Best regards,
    Geert

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  9 месяцев назад

      Greetings. There are two types of Bluetooth connection: Host and accessory. Some devices can be either a Host or Accessory device, but most are one or the other. A Bluetooth Speaker is an Accessory which is why you can link a Bluetooth Speaker to a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, headset, or other accessories. Garmin LMT-D is also an accessory device. It acts as a speaker for your Smartphone, so it can't be linked to another accessory, such as the Car Stereo. However, there are some models that link to Car Radios via FM Radio, such as Garmin Nuvi 765. The Garmin Zumo Motorcycle Navigation Devices are the only Garmin Devices with the Host capabilities. They do that so that the rider can link it to the headset in their helmet.

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101, great video! Thanks so much! As a college English professor, I must agree that your English is great!! As well, there actually is no written rule about not ending a sentence with a preposition. Sometimes it MUST be done! When someone told Winston Churchill about this "rule" of English grammar his reply was: "that is something up with which I will not put," since everyone else would say "that's something I won't put up with."

      There are types of touch screens, One is called resistive and the other one is called capacitive each one has advantages and disadvantages
      Resistive touch screens consists of several very thin layers. When someone presses the touch panel, the top layer bends to make contact with the bottom layer, closing a circuit and causing a current loop. Resistive touch screens can generally only be used as a single-touch device, but they cost less to make and incorporate into your application and respond to any type of touch. They can be used effectively for simple panel controls, such as an automotive GPS panel control or other keypad-replacement applications, or in applications which require gloved use.
      Capacitive touch screens are commonly made of two layers (a surface insulator and a transparent conductive layer beneath it). Since the human body itself is an electrical conductor, when the touch panel is touched with a finger (or a conductive pen), the electrostatic field of the panel is distorted. The touchscreen’s controller is able to tell where this distortion is on the touch screen and sends instructions to the rest of the system accordingly. Capacitive touch screens accept “Multi-touch” controls and require less physical force to register a touch. They’re longer-lived than comparable resistive touch screens, making them suitable for high-grade panel controllers or mobile phones.

After the computer recognizes the GPS run the Garmin Express Application and it will automatically update the firmware and maps. If your GPS qualifies for lifetime Maps the update will be free, otherwise it will tell you how much it will cost.

    You put out some great videos. If you could do a comparison down the road maybe of the Garmin RV vs the Garmin Outlander. I would love to know what your opinion is. Point out ease of use, ease of battery replacement, user friendly from the start, what works, what does not work so well etc. There are a lot of mixed reviews and would like to update my old Nuvi 250W with one that is more up to date but still not sure.
    I will be doing long distance travel with a Dodge Ram Mega Cab 2500. I will be driving in the moutains and off roading and maybe pull a trailer or camper but mostly for off roading and camping.

      Thank you for your compliments, actually I already know what is best for your application. Since you will be towing a trailer in addition to a full size Dodge Ram Mega Cab you might wanna consider using a Truck/RV GPS like this one ruclips.net/video/dsHhRYeI5nI/видео.html
      This will allow you to enter the total weight, length, height, and width of your rig and give you navigation based on that. It will prevent taking you to places where you can't make a U-Turn etc.

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 My Nuvi has been down for a while and have been looking around for some time now. I started out thinking I was going to get the Dezel, but then the RV came out and thought for sure this was the one.
      The reason I am unsure now about the RV was the Outback. Not that it is better or worse, but has a lot of the same features of the RV but I have been off-roading in my truck with my GPS, and the screen was white because the dirt road was not on any map. Having Topo maps were there would normally not be a road at least would show me where I was instead of showing just a white screen.

There is however the manual search where you enter the first couple of letters and it will display only those favorites that start with those letters.

Due to this I lost the map that was in it. Now here at home my computer isn't seeing the Garmin when I plug it into the USB slot. Is there a way to get the map that was on it back?? Thanks for the compliment, Garmin Nuvi 1300 does not have enough internal memory to handle the entire North American Map, so you will need to run it off of the Micro SD Card. Simply insert the Micro SD Card in the GPS Memory slot and you should be good to go. About your GPS not being detected by your computer has nothing to do with deletion of the original old maps. It could be due to bad USB Cable, Bad USB Port on the GPS or computer, System files missing, or bad system board on the GPS.

    Why does the GPS not work on flight?

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  4 года назад

      Actually it does, I used a Garmin Nuvi 1450 on my flight during my Trip to Germany. You have to hold it next to the Airplane Windows for a long time for it to receive Satellite signals. One it has a signal it will continue to work as long as it is next to the window. As soon as you move it away from the window it will lose satellite signals again and stops working. This is due to limited outside visibility in airplanes. They fully shield the plan from outside radiations and radio waves for safety reasons, otherwise passengers and crews would be showered with cosmic rays with severe health consequences. Despite all these safety measures cosmic rays such as alpha and gamma rays gets through the protection shield and harms people at a rate of nearly one Medical X-Ray worth of Radiation per hour of flight.

      I have a nuvi 1450 and I inserted a 32GB class 10 SD card with a transfer rate of 100 megabytes per second and it put the maps on that just fine.. I'm not sure what was wrong with the original poster's SD card unless the SD card was bad.

      @@UhBuddy1976 Thanks for your input. Yes some work flawlessly but I had some issues with a 32GB Samsung Micro SD. Keep in mind that having a 100BM Plus transfer rate will not benefit when you are limited with a slow speed reader in the Nuvi 14xx series.

      This doesn't have a boat function because it is not a marine GPS, however you could still put it on Pedestrian mode because there are no streets in the water to follow. You do however need to install water charts to use this on a boat.

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thanks for your reply, I've been watching alot of your reviews about a few Garmin devices and they're very nice however when it comes to the Bluetooth functions no videos really explain their functionality or drawbacks. Even the functionality of the headphone Jack.
      I wanted to know specifically in the models that have a jack, can I connect the GPS to a mobile phone over Bluetooth to get the functionality of hands free calling etc and plug a headphone jack and take calls/ get directions/ listen to music? Which ones are possible and which ones are not?
      If I connect a Bluetooth headset to my phone and then connect the GPS to my phone since today's phones can connect up to 5-6 devices simultaneously, will the audio be routed to the headset? So I can hear music and take calls and get directions straight to the headset.
      Also what if I attach a Bluetooth transmitter to the headphone jack on the GPS will I be able to connect to my wireless headset directly or to a mobile phone ?
      Going back to the Bluetooth options where you can connect a phone and then there's an option to add audio, what does that do? What can it do?
      I know there's a list of nuvi 765t, 775t and 785t that let you connect a Bluetooth headset to it for directions but havnt found any videos or tutorials for the above information. I'm just working on a project and just doing some research but unable to find all the answers. Would be interesting to find out if you still have the devices to try it out and see if they work. Please do send me a link incase you decide to try out the above.
      Thanks for your reply again 👍

      @@anonymousw1985 I will source one of those models and make a Bluetooth specific tutorial about it. Also here is how Bluetooth technology works. There are two types of Bluetooth devices, A ( Host ), and B ( Accessory) you can only sync a Host to an accessory but not two host together or two accessories together. For example you can't sync a Bluetooth speaker with another Bluetooth speaker, but you could sync a smartphone to a Bluetooth speaker. With a Garmin Nuvi 765t, the GPS is the accessory like a speaker which plays whatever the phone plays and you can even control the skip/replay/volume through the speaker. Syncing the phone to it, will disable the smartphones internal speaker or earpiece. So to listen to the phone and music etc. You must connect your Headset to the GPS. But not to the phone. You can't use a Bluetooth headset because that is an accessory device not a host device. Having that said the smartphone can only link with either the GPS or the BT Headset not both. And the GPS cannot connect to your BT Headset because they are both accessories not host devices.

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Thanks for that 😊
      But if this is true then it might be actually worth check out what actually works and it limitations, also I've got a set of creative bt speakers that connect to each other to work as left and right channel while being connected to my mobile phone wonder how that's possible if you say it's not possible. Also I'd really like and appreciate it if you could explore the add audio option under the Bluetooth menu in those models and see what are the possibilities of adding any devices there and also see if the GPS will connect to bt headset and mobile or just one. I know you have already explained it and it might not work but it'll be good to know unless you've already tried it out.
      Thanks for the detailed reply. This is helping me alot. Please do send me a link when you do manage to make a video I'm very interested.
      Thanks once again and good luck 👍

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 года назад

      Hi, yes you can input Longitude and Latitude on this Nuvi and it will take you there. However it will only do it for areas where you have the maps for it. To do it on land like Forest, Desert, Mountains etc. you need Land GPS or a GPS with Topographical maps on it. If you enter Coordinates on this one it will take you there through the closes roads and streets and if your destination is somewhere where there is no road it will have dashed lines for you to follow. Here is an example ruclips.net/video/x0OIVz_u5LI/видео.html

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 I need to find a crashed drone location Sir. In the forest. Not urban areas

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 года назад +1

      @@abimaputra So just enter the coordinates and follow the dashed lines the problem is that it might try to take you form places that are impossible to cross. For example a river, a ditch, a canyon etc. If you have a Topographical Map for that Forest it will know where the trails are and it will not send you through thick dense forest that is impossible to cross. You can also use a 2nd Drone if you have to fly at the exact coordinates where the first one was lost, then you can visually observe from a distance as to where the first one has fallen.
