- Key-Kegs are disposable kegs used in pubs/breweries.
Once used, it's trash - making it a green project.
These vessels come in 20/30 liter sizes.
The 30 liter tanks are great for a 20 liter (5 gallon) standard home brew.
The plastic is food grade, but doesn't do well with heat. keep the fluids at room temperature and you're good.
The openning is 1.5'' wide. Any plug rubber/sylicone with a hole for an air-lock will do.
The Homebrewers Guild of Be'er Sheva act in the south district of israel. Look for us on facebook.
The bag can be taken out in ten minutes.
Just push the centre of the White plastic insert, it will twist off easily. Use a pair of long-nosed pliers to pull it thru the opening created.
Starting with the same pliers grab enough of the bag and twist/pull gently and it will start to pull thru.
Half of the bag has other bits of plastic associated so pull and twist gently at the same time. I found a pair of long-handled slip/pipe pliers the best as you could use the rounded top to lever against to top of the Keg.
The lower half of the bag takes only a few seconds and voila - job done.
The wrap-around labelling cannot be removed as it is fitted in between a double layer of plastic which is how the kegs are made. A normal airlock and bung fits OK, the supplied handle can be refitted for handling but make sure you screw it on properly otherwise it will pull off when full of beer/wine.
All that remains is to sterilise and you are good to go. These vessels should be sent back to the supplier or swapped on a deposit basis as it puts about 15% more on the price of beer.
I wouldn’t mess about cutting the Grey outer stopper it also does not appear to be unscrewable and messing with hot knives and plastic can obviously be avoided.
Good luck and i hope my post proves useful and i look forward to drinking beer in Israel when i visit Eilat for the Spring bird migration next March...

Laurie Allan thanks for the detailed comment! I've upgraded my game and are now taking the kegs apart in about 15 minutes per keg. I've found that the heated knife works best for me to not scar the outer grey top part which I need to be kept smooth for later sealing with a cap and airlock.
If you find yourself in Beer Sheva, you're welcome for a homebrew :)
You can also remove the inner label quite easily. Pop the bottom off and gently slide your hand between the two layers. After a minute of tugging the label it can be torn and then pulls out. The base can them be refitted.

Hello Friend! Can You Teach How To Depressurize Without The Deflating Tool?
Ivanubis I just push a flat screwdriver to the side of the top of the keg. The gases just exit freely. Do it gently...
Could you demonstrate in some video? Because after I saw a video of a barrel exploding, I was scared. Thanks!
I'm showing this in this video. Talking in Hebrew was probably a mistake. But look at the way I'm pushing the flat screwdriver in minute 0:45-1:16.
You gently insert the driver there and wait for all the gases to exit the tank.
Thank you friend!! Perfect!! I got it to depressurize quietly. A hug from Brazil!
@@awad0b A big thank you for this too !
What kind of soup works best for cleaning? I tried chicken noodle but that just made matters worse.
The whole bag can be take out without any heating involved. Unnecessary hard and time wasting.
how?
