What I would like to see you do is show your way of dealing with the wild hog meat. How do you make sure that it's good to eat ? Do you soak it in anything to try and clean up the meat ? Explain any concerns that people should have when dealing with wild hogs or really any wild meat.
Feral hog: cook the hell out of it. I cook it low and slow. (200+ degrees for hours) Just don't eat anything that hasn't exceeded 170F. If you do that, it could come out of a sewer and it would be safe. (Not good! But safe.)
Not real traditional Canadian bacon (often called peameal bacon) which is just loin rolled in cornmeal. Depending on which part of Canada , it can be lightly smoked (usually alder), lightly brined in salt, or lightly sweet pickled, but always rolled in cornmeal. Fried flat and thinly sliced. A lot of the younger ones that grew up on hells kitchen and other cooking shows will try to pass off "creations" as traditional. But if you went into any diner/restaurant before the internet, and ordered Canadian/peameal bacon, you would get one of the fore mentioned. Maple syrup is rarely used for cooking as it carnalizes/burns easily. BUT if you can get half cooked(evaporated) syrup, it is very nice for frying without carnalizing

My neighbor made me some bacon once years ago with a brine and put it in a smoker , I couldn't stop eating it.
Syrup is a natural substitute for the ever loved "brown sugar" that is used universally down south .
Everything has its place. I made a batch of root beer using cane syrup instead of brown sugar. Ended up pouring it out!
