I’ve had the same issue twice on my 2013 Forest River pull trailer. After the first time this happened I found a RUclips’er that had a simple way to possibly fix the problem and it has worked both times for me. It seems that the check valve gets out of wack (confused) when the city water is hooked on and you run the electric water pump. The fix was to shut off the city water and then run the electric pump, opening all the water valves in your RV one at a time for a minute each then shut off the water pump. Then run the city water and check if the fresh water tank starts to fill. Good luck!
Thanks a lot for the detailed video that gives me the courage to handle this repair on my own instead of taking it to the shop! I had no idea I’d only need the head of the pump. You guys rock!
Thank you for the comment! Good luck with your repairs. How-to videos are definitely are a big help and really give you that boost of confidence you need.
I vaguely remember that some connection points specifically say no Teflon tape. The part is designed to be watertight plastic to plastic. Maybe thinking of something else? Good video, thanks.
You have your inlet and outlet sides of the pump confused. At "3.20 you say outlet"" and "Inlet at 3.29" they are the opposite, inlet side (low pressure side) has the strainer on it. A strainer on the pressure side would not protect the pump from incoming debris.
Hello Texan1845, It's funny you said that because I did end up putting some under the pump just did not put in video because I did it as an after thought. Thanks for watching.
I believe you identified the Inlet and Outlet sides incorrectly. The clear filter attached to the pump, I think you'll find, is on the Inlet side. Look for a direction arrow stamped into the pump head.
I bought my shutflo 4008 Pump head replacement for 4.00 on Amazon and it was so easy to replace but then again I do handyman and mobile mechanic and RV repairs
I have the same problem on a 2021 keystone passport 268BH first camping trip same thing is happening check valve was bypassing and filling up the water tank, talk to the dealership they said under warranty so going to get a new pump
Probably best that you did the repair and not camping world. I usually take pictures of the wires just to have a good record, especially if there are more than 2. Wago connectors are great for 12 volt systems. You can buy a replacement check valve kit. They had issues with valves made during covid. The cone washers can be damaged in the connections while removing so always best to have a couple of spares to replace just in case.
Hi bro..Good vid...what u reckon if pump sticking....stripped down and motor it making a noise and hard to turn...seems so dry....any advice appreciated buddy👍
If the motor is hard to turn sounds like an issue with the motor, maybe the brushes or something. These pumps are relatively cheap so might just be easier to get a new one.

Definitely agree some people are just not cut out for doing how to videos
Good video a suggestion from fellow RVer I put a 1” thick piece of rubber between the pump base and floor it made the sound more quite when running

Make sure you have a pressure regulator to prevent blowing the valve again
