AMEN to that LEVI RIP …. All my love still a fan always will be !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🏴🏴🏴🏴and OMG how good looking he was … along with the other great guys!!!!!
Levi Stubbs one of the greatest male voices of all time in pop, R&B, and even as a crooner! No matter how hard they have tried no one can reproduce his voice, sound, or quality. I always feel badly those guys who have tried. They can catch one or two songs but never all of them. Unlike The Temptations who each are duplicable they'll never replace Levi, there was a cry in his voice that could never be copied. He had those pipes until the very end. RIP we will always miss you.
2019!!! Thank you Levi for that God given voice .You were one in a million and you are truly missed. I know you are resting in the arms of Jesus. We were so blessed to have had you share you wonderful voice with us.Rip.
I do not know what God's Grand Plan is..Perhaps I am not deserving of this knowledge. All I know is that Levi Stubbs was sent by God to fill our lives with joy and wonder through his marvellous voice, his innate rhythm, his joy at performing with his wonderful friends..for wonderful they all were...and his beauty and humble manner. My gosh..he was wonderful!! I miss him so very much..
I miss the Four Tops and other Motown artists. They were my favorite Motown group since I graduated from elementary school in 1965. The radio stations do not play this good-old music anymore.
Well said I agree 💯, I was born the 80s but my mom especially loved him and the tops so I knew alot of the songs. Now as a women I find him to have been so endearing, humble, rare talent, very handsome goodlooking and funny too. Side note: his name Levi is makes me think of the 12 tribes in the Bible. The Levites we're the priestly tribe the ministers. With that being said he commanded with his voice yet there was that tear drop in it that pierced, touch and drew me, much like ministering to people. Just a thought
What a handsome guy he was. That scene where they wheeled him out in a wheelchair was one the most heartbreaking things I'd ever seen and it's etched in my memory. Sometimes wish I hadn't seen that so I'd always remember him as he was, singing so effortlessly with that wonderful voice. That voice - even the bit he sang while in the wheelchair, you knew it was him, it was so recognizable. RIP Levi and all the Tops. What ambassadors they were.
What a great entertainer I LOVE The Four Tops Levi's voice is awesome he proved that even though he suffered a stroke he worked hard to sing for everyone one more time. R. I. P. Levi we LOVE You ALWAYS. DB
Joseph Virgilio Me too, I love these guys so much even though all but Duke have passed, .Levi’s voice was stunning, we will never hear the likes of that voice ever again 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Levi was the BEST, PERIOD. No one yearned a lyric like Levi Stubbs. And what I respect him so much for is that he could have easily been a solo act at Motown, i.e. Diana, David, etc..., but friendship many more to him than anything. He was part of something bigger...
He was a great singer with a voice full of emotion, and he has left a void that cannot be filled. It was heartbreaking to see him so obviously ill but still trying to sing, but even with the few words uttered his voice was unmistakable. RIP Levi.
Levi Stubbs & Jackie Wilson were 1st Cousins. The Four Tops paid for Jackie Wilson’s Funeral. He will be missed. Rest in Eternal Peace Levi, Renaldo and Lawrence. Time is flying. Levi has been dead 10 yrs. but it seems like yesterday
I can believe this because...when you hear Levi or Jackie sing you can here something in their tone, style or whatever that would make me think yes...they were related. Even features! Wow!
I never knew that! Talent must run in families. I kissed Levi’s hand once when I was in front of the stage. He reached down and took my face in his hands and kissed my cheek. I didn’t wash for a week. And I was 36 too. Star struck. Xxxxxx
A profoundly loving tribute from his colleague and dear friend, Aretha. Take a listen to the Christmas album they recorded in the 90s. Still a treasure to bring out every December. Levi's voice started at the deepest part of his soul and percolated through his life experience and reached combustion in his throat and at his vocal folds. As a child, I was stunned into elation when I first heard his instrument wrapped in the glorious harmonies of his fellow Tops. A brief candle.. blazing like an unstoppable asteroid. Rest in God's paradise, Sir, and thank you.
I've watched this last performance by Levi with Aretha 1000 times. And it still is the saddest most beautiful performance I've ever seen. The man was and is a legend. And it took everything from inside his soul to sing still so eloquently in his last days.. 😪😪🙏🏾🙏🏾
I still think about Levi it's a feeling that never go's away person I cried as well and still do I think it's just the impression that he made on people Love you Levi RIP
The vinyl records, tapes, digital discs and digital files are all we are left with the memories of our music masters. To me, all the Four Tops sounded grand.
Levi and other tops,Great men, wonderful group, wish they were here to do it all again,Levi was offered film and to go solo, but his close friendship and loyalty to the other tops decided to refuse LEGENDS,never forgotten they gave so much R I P.
Levi Stubbs was one of the greatest singers in the history of soul music. His voice and performance plays in the same league as David Ruffin or Marvin Gaye.
Tears flow down my face as i reflect on the times my mother used to listen to the four tops and Levi Stubbs and the four tops. May their souls rest in everlasting peace.
.. 12 Minutes Of The Most Amazing Music That Was Ever Heard On This Earth .. Levi Stubbs Lives On For Ever And Ever .. God Bless & Rest in Peace Levi . . .
Growing up in detroit as a lil kid i met him a few times, my dad used to play golf with them, he was a nice dude, i remember him being nice looking, Rip Levi stubbs
Knowing Levi, he would say it was a pleasur to perform for us. Not that it was a pleasure to heaar him. This man has been my inspiration for 55 years now. If I lived my life half as well as he did I did alright. Thank you levi, you did well!
So beautiful to see these people who love each other and their music so much. What a loss to our world when Mr. Levi passed. He left such a warm and wonderful legacy. Love the Tops always.
Mr Levi Stubb's was such a great singer that when it came to the four tops you didn't need another lead singer .. he could hang with any other lead singer from any other group , this guy voice was tremendous one of a kind to narrow it down perfect 🎼🎹🎤🌟
I have enjoyed the music of the Four Tops for a long time, yet I knew nothing about any of their personal lives. Today I learned how unselfish and loyal Mr. Levi Stubbs was by not renaming the group with him as the lead singer nor leaving the group to embark on a solo career. He has earned my respect. Rest in peace Mr. Stubbs.
I enjoyed the Four Tops as my first favorite Motown artists, and the other Motown artists, even in the year 2021. Like you, I never paid much head to a biography of the performers' personal lives. Their music was all I care about, and need.
June 6th: Happy birthday Singer Levi Stubbs. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. "Little Shop of Horrors." Unmistakable voice. (1936-2008) Thank you and God bless. RIP Legend. Thanks for the upload, Geli Shawel. Blessings
I feel, I was blessed Growing up up in the seventies, So much great music of all genres, But for me, there was always something Special about Levi's voice, That No matter what you were going through, in life, that voice would just somehow soothe your soul, God Bless him. 🙏🙏🙏
What a #Voice~ What a #Man ~Stunning vocals on every song he ever sang~ Such purity and resonance~ #Mesmerising.~ Levi Stubbs legacy lives on in his soulful music. Love you Levi xx
Oh Bluebeatbabe1,,, what perfect words you wrote!!.""Such purity""....and I imagine purity of soul as well as voice.......and..""resonance""..so true. Levi Stubbs will always be in my heart as well..for the magic he evoked..and his wonderful friends...The Four Tops came to Australia twice...The 1960's or early 1970's..and in later years with the Temps. I saw them both times..and I still sigh...
😪 Music when I was born . I'm thinking of my Dad and how he loved this music . I know we all have to go one day but my Dads was cut short but he tried to save his brother from the fire and 3 days later had to let him go last March 2021 . God also knew my father was tired and couldn't really enjoy retirement because of siblings . I miss my Dad badly . Send old school songs to your family or hell if you can sing , sing it to all and let's keep family strong and tight like it used to be growing up 💖 Love you all 🕊
One of the greatest singers in the world, he does not get the recognition he and the boys truly deserve, just wonderful. The suits they are wearing in the second clip wuld be modern today in 2020 lol
OMG,TEARS STARTED FLOWING FROM MY EYES WHEN I SAW LEVI IN THAT CHAIR, I AM 55YEARS OLD AND I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HEAR THE MUSIC OF THE FOUR TOPS ,I CAN'T STOP CRYING, THEY WERE MY CHILDHOOD ALONG WITH THE TEMPTS AND MOTOWN, THERE WILL NEVER ,EVER BE ANOTHER MR.LEVI STUBBS,THE MOST WONDERFUL VOICE,MAY HE REST IN PEACE UP THERE SINGING WITH THE ANGELS 😢💖🌹✌🙏
I am 68-years-old and when I saw Levi Stubbs wheeled in a wheelchair on the stage, I was dumbstruck. The Four Tops were my first favorite Motown group in 1965, when I graduated from elementary school. Also, I love the other Motown artists, the Atlantic artists, New Brunswick, and other record labels. This music is still my speed.
I grew up in Detroit walking the streets seeing all the Motown performers on the street just like us. I’m even friends with David Ruffin’s wife. My youngest daughter and his grandson Clifford were playmates. The Four Tops stayed together. My favorite group. Pure class. They still sound good. Love music.
I love The Four Tops! I wll always love the Four Tops!! Levi you among the greatest singers of our time!!! I am so glad I lived in your lifetime!!! Thank you for your gift from God! and leaving it for us to cherish ALWAYS! Continue to R.I.P. Levi Stubb.
It’s so nice to be able to visit the final resting place of Levi at Woodlawn cemetery where he & other Detroit “royalty” are buried. It’s awesome knowing that one is “standing in the shadows” of a man who enriched our lives with some of the greatest music of all times! Thank you so much Levi! We love you. RIP
well, i was raised with the music of THE Four Tops & Mr. Levi Stubbs will be one of my favorite SOUL singers 4EVER ... R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten ...
I've seen that video of Levi singing with Aretha many of times. And it's always the same result. It brings tears too my eyes. Im 54 years old. I grew up listening too the TOPS, TEMPS AND ALL OF MOTOWN. My sisters who would be in their late 60s played this music in the house all the time. So I was introduced too it early in life. And it became part of my DNA. And part of my soul. The Topps and temptations have always been my favorites. But the Topps got the nod for me. I always admired their longevity. And I always had a affinity for MR Levi Stubbs. He was always one cool brother. And while the Temps lead singing was interchangeable. Levi and his voice carried the Topps their whole carriers. And his first name always stood out for me. His first name is my last. Levi Stubbs. And mine William Levi. And as I'm getting older for some reason people will call me Levi instead of will or William. So that's my Levi Stubbs story. And testimonial too a great singer. And a great man RIPARIDISE MR LEVI STUBBS..
No, No, No, they were not better than the Temptations, probably these new Temptations. It not the Originals even after David left, and Dennis Edwards joined the Temptation. The Temptations were the Baddest, Classiest Dressing, Dancing Male Group ever. I remember when we had Talent shows at School, everybody was the Temptations even Girl groups, you ask them who they were, and they would say we are the Temptations. It would be about 15 Groups of Temptations. It was Fun to watch. Don’t get me wrong, the Tops were good, but they were not as Hot are Tuff like the Temptations. But that just my Opinion. The Tempting Temptations Forever.
Absolutely received a beautiful education regarding Levi Stubbs. I love everyone of those songs. And never knew at 61 years old, that Levi was responsible for this Masterpiece.
Saw Levi Stubbs in 1985 in Austin, Texas with the Temptations. The Temps opened up and then the Tops tore it up! Besides Marvin Gaye, Levi Stubbs IS the voice of Motown! And I'll never forget The Funk brothers, the backbone of Motown.
Like the main Motown artists, I can appreciate the Funk Brothers. The Funk Brothers were the lifeline of Motown. They were the blood and Motown was the skin and bones just like the body. This year is my first year that I am listening to the Funk Brothers on [RUclips].
Levi, Duke, Larry and Obie. They stayed together for forty-three consecutive years. No one as a vocal group in history has every done that. NO ONE!!! THE FOUR TOPS...BAR NONE, PERIOD!!! Abdul "Duke" Fakir is the sole survivor of this fantastic group.
Nobody else could ever sing with such raw emotion as Levi could. Certainly none of today's singers. How lucky were we?
Oh yes we were, Kay! ❤
I second that !
Totally agree! We, my generation, the late '50"s, all of the '60's and '70's, simply the best!
Not very lucky when you hear about how the industry treat artist today. They had to have been in pain back in the 60's and 70's. But yes, great music.
The Lord broke the mold after he blessed us with Levi Stubbs. His voice will live on for future generations, what a talent!
No truer word spoken❤️
I agree, he was one best singers at Motown. Him and my man Eddie Kendricks.
He's the only one, from that era,to even come close to David ruffin in Soul and great voice.
I am so happy we are blessed with his voice and talent.
RIP BEAUTIFUL SOUL.
MALE BLACK SINGERS OF TODAY...TAKE NOTE...THIS IS THE REAL THING .. RIP LEVI
Amen Michael! Levi kicked it!
AMEN to that LEVI RIP …. All my love still a fan always will be !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🏴🏴🏴🏴and OMG how good looking he was … along with the other great guys!!!!!
Levi was the man! People who think it’s funny to make fun of his passing need to have their arse kicked!!
I agree brother..👍🙏
Levi Stubbs one of the greatest male voices of all time in pop, R&B, and even as a crooner! No matter how hard they have tried no one can reproduce his voice, sound, or quality. Sir Best of The Best
So right, Jeff! Only one Levi, and I know what you mean about that cry in his voice. Such emotion! He was the Patsy Cline of Motown. 😃
I do not know what God's Grand Plan is..Perhaps I am not deserving of this knowledge. Just a thought
Right.
Not many groups stayed together anymore.
Levi could’ve had a great solo career,
but he was loyal to his brothers.
Such a great group.
Amen!
How can anyone not love Levi and the Four Tops? The greatest group of all time. Love them.
You're absolutely right, Dianne. THE FOUR TOPS Are The Greatest!!!! ~
I absolutely agree! Nothing better than the Tops!
Love the 4tops forever areth a a
I agree ! There was no one like the Four Tops! They were in a class of their own! Levi was one of the best! I love him!!
I named my cat Levi Stubb's because he's a cool black cat who likes to sing all night long!
What a handsome guy he was. That scene where they wheeled him out in a wheelchair was one the most heartbreaking things I'd ever seen and it's etched in my memory. Sometimes wish I hadn't seen that so I'd always remember him as he was, singing so effortlessly with that wonderful voice. maggie o'shea I cant watch the part with Levi in the wheelchar it breaks my heart he was so full of life and such a greatentertainer
I hardly ever cry, but the tears are running now.....Levi should be forever young..
ALL OF THE TOPS WERE HANDSOME!!!!! LUV!!!!!! ME SOME TOPS!!!
That was sad.
What is man? Here today and gone tomorrow. But what a legacy he left .
breaks my heart every time I see the clip of Levi singing from the wheelchair. A great artist we were blessed to share the earth with . . . :'-(
What a great entertainer I LOVE The Four Tops Levi's voice is awesome he proved that even though he suffered a stroke he worked hard to sing for everyone one more time. R. I. P. Levi we LOVE You ALWAYS. DB
Joseph Virgilio Me too, I love these guys so much even though all but Duke have passed, .Levi’s voice was stunning, we will never hear the likes of that voice ever again 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Wow!!!! What a voice Levi Stubbs had. Love them all. My fave Motown band of all time. Thanks guys xx
It breaks my heart as well. It was very brave of him to come out on stage.
Tomorrow makes 13 years after he gained his wings
You don’t see friendships like that anymore it is very rare.
Levi was the BEST, PERIOD. No one yearned a lyric like Levi Stubbs. And what I respect him so much for is that he could have easily been a solo act at Motown, i.e. Diana, David, etc..., but friendship many more to him than anything. He was part of something bigger...
New Foundations Recovery, it was said that he offered some of the leads to the fellows and they rejected it.
Levi defined an era with style and class. When he sang, you knew who it was One of the greats
What sad when illness affects a once vital person, but we will always remember him as a young
Man who sang with the 4 tops and that was who he was.
He was a great singer with a voice full of emotion, and he has left a void that cannot be filled. It was heartbreaking to see him so obviously ill but still trying to sing, but even with the few words uttered his voice was unmistakable. RIP Levi.
Jeff Stewart....So sad seeing him in that chair wanting to sing like he used to. But, he pulled through.
Also in 2021, I am brokenhearted to see Levi Stubbs wheeled in a wheelchair and feeling frail, instead of dancing on the stage.

I even heard Michael paid for it before
I love to listen to the voice of Levi Stubbs and I am so sorry he has passed away, and I hope he is in Jesus arms.
I have to be honest I am 63 years old and I have never heard another voice like Levi Stubbs ever
The Four Tops, were REALLY FRIENDS TIL THE END
Incredible voice. May he rest in peace.
STILL A POWERFUL VOICE FROM HIS WHEELCHAIR😍
A profoundly loving tribute from his colleague and dear friend, Aretha. Take a listen to the Christmas album they recorded in the 90s. Still a treasure to bring out every December. Levi's voice started at the deepest part of his soul and percolated through his life experience and reached combustion in his throat and at his vocal folds. As a child, I was stunned into elation when I first heard his instrument wrapped in the glorious harmonies of his fellow Tops.
A brief candle.. blazing like an unstoppable asteroid. Rest in God's paradise, Sir, and thank you.
Quem viveu nos anos 50 60 70 80 e 90 escultou músicas de verdade cantores de verdade hoje infelizmente não temos mais isso em lugar nenhum no mundo
I've watched this last performance by Levi with Aretha 1000 times. And it still is the saddest most beautiful performance I've ever seen. The man was and is a legend. And it took everything from inside his soul to sing still so eloquently in his last days.. 😪😪🙏🏾🙏🏾
Always my favorite group, loved that they stayed together. They were family.
HOW HANDSOME A MAN HE WAS AND THAT SOULFUL VOICE, GIVES ME CHILLS ALL OVER 😍👍✌💖
I cried like a baby when he passed on. This just brings back those raw emotions. I love you Levi and the tops
I still think about Levi it's a feeling that never go's away person I cried as well and still do I think it's just the impression that he made on people Love you Levi RIP
The absolute delightful Levi and his Tops ... BRILLIANT ... miss your exceptional voice Levi.
The vinyl records, tapes, digital discs and digital files are all we are left with the memories of our music masters. To me, all the Four Tops sounded grand.
This has me in tears lovely tribute. You can see how much everyone loved him. Big loss.

Levi was the 4 Tops but he also was a humble man . He sing with and for the group .THE FOUR TOPS... RIP
How sad it is when musicians and artists make great music and then they die.
Tears flow down my face as i reflect on the times my mother used to listen to the four tops and Levi Stubbs and the four tops. May their souls rest in everlasting peace.

I remember Luther vandross ,the same way just brilliant,
A great compliment from Aretha. Only deserved by an elite few. Levi Stubbs was, a world class gentleman. God look after both of you.
I wanted to marry levi when I was like 6 years old - my appreciation for talent set in early, and he cemented my love of motown firmly in place. RIP x
Outstanding lead, one group that i loved as a teenager but never got to see.
Aretha was spot on about his voice.
Growing up in detroit as a lil kid i met him a few times, my dad used to play golf with them, he was a nice dude, i remember him being nice looking, Rip Levi stubbs

That’s true brotherhood how they wiped his tears on stage 🥺🥺🥺 just beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Wasn't that 'love' shown to him? And proud to show it.
What a guy what a singer and so humble sad loss R.i.P Levi x
His voice. Ohh HIS VOICE. ♥️
Levi was the best lead singer .I love this brother for years R I P
So beautiful to see these people who love each other and their music so much. What a loss to our world when Mr. Levi passed. He left such a warm and wonderful legacy. Love the Tops always.
He was an amazing tenor. Warm, emotional, smart and so masculine in a very evolved way.
unlike other performers he had no ego and stood with the rest of the guys..best voice to come out of motown..rip levi
A great tribute to an all time great performer, Mr. Levi Stubbs!
Oh my, how I miss him......my heart hurts.
What a dynamic stirring voice! One of my all-time favorites.

Whenever I cruised in my old car in the old days it seemed Levi was in there with me, singing so soulfully, but so sad to see him like this.

And as I'm getting older for some reason people will call me Levi instead of will or William. So that's my Levi Stubbs story. And testimonial too a great singer. And a great man RIPARIDISE MR LEVI STUBBS..
So sad to see the great man, like this. I will always remember him as a young man in the 60's, as I was. R.I.P.
What a beautiful tribute - thank you for this wondeful video. A great man, a fabulous artist. irreplaceable.

I am so glad i was alive to see these guys perform, they truely were amazing.😇😇😇
Class act. Levi's voice is breathtaking. They were tops over the Temptations!
Kristie Battiste ...without a doubt. Love those guys and really miss them. We still have their music and all of the great memories of them.
Let's not get CARRIED AWAY
My whole little family loves you Levi and all of the Tops

I loved me some Levi Stubbs along with the Four Tops. His voice was so smooth & mellow
Absolutely received a beautiful education regarding Levi Stubbs. I love everyone of those songs. And never knew at 61 years old, that Levi was responsible for this Masterpiece.
Just beautiful. RIP

I'm loving this on this day.12-28-18
Saw Levi Stubbs in 1985 in Austin, Texas with the Temptations.
This year is my first year that I am listening to the Funk Brothers on [RUclips].
wow...my uncle generation, he was drafted for Vietnam...every generation has its own mystics...much respect
