Today I will show you the Bissel Proheat Elements. This is a not so expensive carpet cleaner.
Are you looking for a way to remove dirt and allergens from your carpet with ease? The best way to do it is through the help of a carpet cleaner. Carpet cleaners are able to get deep down into the fibers of your carpet to lift away even the deepest of stains. With a few swipes of the carpet cleaner and powerful cleaning solution at your disposal, you can see those stains disappear right in front of your eyes. One carpet cleaner that promises to do all of that at a pretty affordable price is the Bissell ProHeat Essential (Model 1887), but it DOES NOT DELIVER on this promise.
There are six rows of brushes on Bissell’s patented DirtLifter PowerBrush, which is a great feature because you can be sure it’ll sweep away any ground-in dirt or stains that are deep within your carpet’s fibers. The fact that you can get such a powerful clean without damaging your carpets is a major plus. Heatwave Technology is a nice addition as well since it keeps the water warm to ensure an even better clean with each use. This model lacks a heater. Without a heater, there’s no way you can go back over your carpet to speed up the drying time. It also lacks Surround Suction, which is designed to suction up any puddles of water that are left behind during the cleaning process. Not having either of these features is definitely going to lead to longer drying times.
The suction is average. Your carpets will take quite a while to dry unless you make a second pass with an additional vacuum. An additional vacuum! Insead of handling two vacuums, just buy a better carpet cleaner. If you aren’t too worried about speeding up the drying process, then you likely won’t miss either of these features. However, it is worth noting that you’re going to have to spend extra time off your carpet after you’ve finished shampooing. And I am talking here about hours you have to keep off your carpet.
It’s no secret that many carpet cleaners on the market today can be pretty expensive. With most models costing you over $250, it’s refreshing to see one that’s more on the affordable side. At $149.99, the Bissell ProHeat Essential delivers only disappointment after disappointment.
Don't buy this carpet cleaner!
If carpet is still very wet after you've cleaned it, then you're not using the machine correctly.
From the user guide, page 6:
Press the Spray Trigger
while making one slow forward and one slow backward pass.
Do not over wet.
Release trigger and
make one slow forward and backward pass over same area.
Repeat cleaning passes
until solution being suctioned up appears clean. Continue passes without pressing Spray Trigger until you can’t see any
more water being suctioned
up. Repeated passes will help speed up dry time.
Note: Leaving too much water in the carpet after cleaning causes dry rot.
You cant keep going g back and forth back and forth over an area while squeezing the trigger. It's going to keep releasing water and not suck up much water. You ha e to let it pick up water without squeezing the trigger in the handle to pick up the rest of what you put down. You will ruin the carpet by soaking it like that

I have this carpet cleaner i bought mine at Lowe's and it cleans my carpets really good. But you can't hold the trigger down you have to let up on it after you spray a little
9:15 don't use boiling water it will damage your bissell I use hot tap water because the heater bissell

You did a very good review and you were detailed with your content, however you were not using the carpet cleaner correctly. As with all machines you spray as you move forward moving over the area slowly so the bristles can scrub after the solution is deposited then you pull backward in a slow motion so the vacuum can pull up the liquid as the bristles work to aid in pulling the dirty water from the carpet. The slower the motion the better the suction power. Also if it still remains very wet applying weight to the top of the vac and it will suction even more.
I knew I haven't bought one of these for a reason.

Of course it’s not going to pickup a lot of the solution if you’re pushing and pulling the unit as fast as you were.
I love mine. I must have got one that works correctly. Thank goodness. Loved my prior one also but it was too heavy for me after wrist surgery.

Most bissel carpet washers always leave lots of water behind the big green doesn't leave water behind since it has good suction if your looking for a cheap affordable carpet cleaner get a hoover steamvac or max extract dual v all terrain or powerscrub they clean and work better

My bissell revolution doesnt leave a lot of water in the carpet. It picks up about 90 percent of the water. The cheaper bissells I'd have to agree do leave more in the carpet.
Nothing like watching this at 3 AM after a night of drinking and the dog went 💩

You are treating it like a vacuum cleaner, and moving too fast. It is meant to be done slowly.
I have found the machines like the Bissell Proheat Essential are more of a spot cleaning machine. I use a Oreck steam cleaner a spray bottle of simple green and a shop vac to clean carpets. The results I get are just about the same or better then using an all in one carpet machine at about 1/3 the price. I have a carpet cleaning company do my carpets once a year when they have a sale.
You are absolutely right. I also think that this Bissell would be a great spot cleaner. For fresh spots and not too big. This also brings down the cost of the detergents. Have a great day. 😀

Great design, very good price and how Bissel solved the problem to make one water container do double duty with the idea of inserting the silicone bladder into the tank and basically simultaneously to have two water containers in one. 😀
Bissell carpet cleaning machines are junk
I've gone through 3 of the Bissell ProHeat
they last for six months and then they die
They work great for the first month but after that they start showing signs for slow death
Hoover carpet cleaning machines don't last very long either
what would you recommend? I almost bought a bissell
They only last if you take care of them and clean well after using it. Ive had mine for 4 years and have only replaced the brushes and belts

I Have this Bissell. I do not think it is made to handle the level of heavily soiled dirt that is in your carpet. And boy did you spray a lot of water. I think you over sprayed.
