    It's a drug song for me; LSD
    The landlady takes me up in the air
    I go, I go where I would not dare
    Landlady shows me the stars up there
    I'm weightless, weightless when she is there

    Great song, would have been epic/monstrous If they changed the lyric ‘landlady’ to my baby or my lover. Try it, makes it relatable to billions. God knocked on the door Bono, but you didn’t let him walk through the room :-)

    • @cw9817
      @cw9817 5 лет назад +6

      But Bono specifically wrote this as a possible last song to Ali, as a result of his health scare. SOE contains several songs that Bono intended as possible last messages to his wife and kids. "Lover," "baby," or even "wife" would have been too generic for this purpose.
      Besides, "Landlady" is charming if old-fashioned, and points to how she literally paid the rent when Bono didn't have income. "Landlady" also points to someone who owns a home, and the theme of getting to both an earthly and a heavenly home is central to SOE.

      The title 'Landlady' makes it a U2/Bono song!! Everyone writes about love/lover/baby. Only they can write a song this good and call it landlady :)

    Sexist intro with a false message, but great song nonetheless! Can't help but love U2

      David Gonzalez how is it a sexist intro?

      David Gonzalez Yeah, where's the sexism?

    • @donquixotedelamancha58
      @donquixotedelamancha58 5 лет назад +1

      @@50ShadesOfEndo As if such an explanation is needed, here goes... The sexism lies in the implication that there is a patriarchy and that it is so violent and oppressive that the world will soon come to an end unless it is overthrown by women. Now, as Steven Pinter demonstrates in his new book, "Enlightenment Now," life has gotten progressively better, not worse, as time goes by for the vast majority of people on Earth. In other words, even if there is an evil patriarchy that controls the world and oppresses women, one would have to admit that quality of life has been improving all over the world, not getting worse. Not that I believe in the "patriarchy." If by your question you're truly interested in listening, then I would suggest that you read "Why Men Earn More" by Dr. Warren Farrell, or at least watch the RUclips video. You'll find it easily. Alternatively, you can watch the documentary called "The Red Pill." Of course, I'm assuming that you actually want an answer to your question. I am well aware that there is a good chance that you asked that question without any real intention of listening for an answer, learning something new, or expanding your world view. I hope that's not the case. In which case, I would challenge you to watch "The Red Pill." You can rent it on RUclips right now.

      David Gonzalez David Gonzalez David Gonzalez you don't find it at least a little coincidental that these positive improvements in our world have all come about in the years where women were able to move beyond the kitchen??i also find it very revealing that you seem to think that the evil patriarchy that you don't believe in would be fine oppressing women since they are by some metrics doing quite well,should they exist...I'm thinking your one of those dudes who sets off to find evidence to back up his inherent prejudices...don't worry,I'm not interested in an answer,you have already left ample testimony as to your character...
