- Lyn spends a day on the Colonel’s Water beat of the River Irfon - a tributary of the RIver Wye in Mid-Wales. Being early October, the target species is grayling, but the trout seem to have forgotten they're out-of-season. Throughout the video, Lyn demonstrates both the euro-nymph and upstream dry fly techniques amongst the beautiful autumnal landscape. Lyn's 'top tips' feature is aimed at beginners, or those new to fishing rivers.
Filmed using the following kit:
GoPro 12.
OM System Tough 7.
iPhone 11.
All editing done using Adobe Premier Pro 2023.

Thank you! Yes, been experimenting with 'top tip' layout options - glad you like them.
Great videos these Lyn
Thanks Nigel - really appreciate your feedback. Hopefully many more to come - once this rain stops!
Well done Lyn, the channel is growing with another excellent upload, looking forward to the next one… 👍
Thanks Chris! Appreciate all your help, can’t wait to get back out with the GoPro 👍
Nice video Lyn. Do you remove any if the front of the Hanak leader? I have found the tip too long and soft.
Thanks Phillip. Yes, I cut approx 2ft off the tip of the Hends leader. Like you say, it’s very thin, with a tendency to tangle easily.
Hi mate, love the video. I have recently moved to Llanwrtyd and looking to fish the irfon. Do you know if they do a season pass?
Thanks Ceri - really appreciate the feedback. You could try fishingwales.net/fishing-locations/groe-park-and-irfon-angling-club-river-irfon/ for the lower stretches, but to be honest, I always book via the WUF website.
@@capturedonline yeah I'm going to sign up with them in January. Call me tight but I just want to go when I have a few spare hours and can't justify the price then
Hi Lyn
You describe this stretch as difficult - in what respect plesse?
Hi Peter, it’s difficult in the sense of fish numbers. Unfortunately, I’ve seen a decline in grayling over the years. Specimen fish are likely though, which is the attraction.
Whats the net your using please can you post a link for it
