Just upgraded from a 550 4gb to a 580 8gb (non 2048), a 2.8x performance difference but the 550 is a light gaming beast for holding me in 4 years of service! Good video
@@DanielCardei Along with that upgrade I also got a 750w psu from gigabyte (bomb has been planted) because before that I had a smart form psu because the card didn't need additional power, and I'm rocking a ryzen 3 3200g which still holds up and it is a bottleneck not so much and a ryzen 5 3600 would have been better but I'm more than satisfied with the performance gain :D the rx 550 could run games like cyberpunk (ultra fsr, 1080p) and even some sony titles like ghost of tsushima and spiderman 2018 was able to run it and even finish them with reduced settings. I think the biggest advantage of this upgrade was not only the GPU but the PSU if I will want to upgrade in the future.
Dit you use the AMD Freesync tech ? The most monitors in the market support it, makes a big difference for the eye. Also i cant find the power meter for the VGA card it self on the software. The RX 550 dit consume up to 50 Watts, but after the newest Driver and Bios Updates, my only consumems maximum 28 Watts in every cenario. You can also water cool it, the on aliexpress there are universal VGA water cooling blocks, the block alone cost 20€ but is full cooper often whit nikel. Which increases the power slightly. Thats what i dit do whit my one.
I just put this very card in a Lenovo OEM With a Haswell i7 4790 it doesn’t have PCIe power. Paid 30 bucks for the PC which isn’t bad for a 4790 PC. First time ever I got an OEM PC. They were selling a bunch of i7 6700 Lenovos as well for 70 bucks and they had SSDs as well and 16GB RAM.
Lower minimals in something like CS2 would indicate (or likely be) a CPU issue as long as the game isn't running over the VRAM limit of the video card. It could also be a IO issue with loading assets from a slow hard drive. Lower minimals in fortnite (or stuttering) is just going to happen in your first few games as it seems to like to compile shaders for a while so you would play to play or use the replay feature a few times to make sure those stutters go away (in my testing anyway). I could be wrong however, comparing it to other tests with more powerful GPUs with the same CPU would let you know if it is indeed a GPU issue or if it is the same on something like a 3070 or something. Crossout and GTA5 shows that even when the GPU is at 100% or spiking to 100% there weren't massive stutters like there were in the other two games listed above. Like I said though you would have to text the CPU with a much more powerful GPU to make sure it isn't the a GPU limitation. Good video though keep it up :D
I used it like this so I see how much it goes up in the fps. Using v sync will have helped. Maxing details to push the card or lowering resolution to help the whole system. Options that requires the user to take to optimise their system. My system has an 2tb ssd and I think its on the minimal speed not to be influenced. From here with everything unlocked everybody can see and adjust how they want to make it better for them.
@@DanielCardei They are good tests dont get me wrong just I can't stand stuttering so when something like that pops up in a system of mine or one of my family members i spend more time than I should trying to identify and fix the problem. That said yeah v-sync should help in some cpu bound scenarios as well. Keep up the good work man!
I know core speeds drop at idle but I’ve never heard of PCIE changing versions at idle. You sure the CPU supports PCIe3? For example a Z77 motherboard supports PCIe3 but only with an Ivy Bridge CPU not Sandy Bridge and even then some Ivy Bridge CPUs only support PCIE2.0.
RX 550 4GB is better than the 1030 for just upgrading some old sff workstation that has like a i7 4770 and 16GB of ram. RX 560 4GB has 1024 cores thats twice the 512 cores in RX 550. But it requires a 6 pin connector. If you want to compare something to the 970 than its the RX 570 and 580. Because thats similar price and similar power draw. Except RX 570 8GB and RX 580 has more than 3.5GB of vram.
@@evilqtip7098 comparing this card to those, true this is not that good. Some pc are small and don't have enough power for 2x 6pin connector. I think cards that can work without have a purpose too

Nice.
Thanks!
that rx 550 is getting fairly botlenecked by the motherboards pci-e 2.0 that makes it a bit worse than gt 1030
