  • Yarding a Large Sugar Pine log uphill with a Farmi 501 tractor winch. The winch is on a Massey Ferguson MF 30 industrial tractor. This log will push the winch to its limits.
    In this video I will load the logs onto a dump trailer and dump them at the sawmill. These laws will be cut into lumber on a Woodmizer LT15 sawmill.

    I really like your thought process pulling this but log out, mainly taking the time to save the young tree instead of just plowing through it and destroying it, I'm new to your videos but I'm liking what I see, Your wit and cutting down nay sayers. glad I found you

      Thank you for that comment. Just taking a moment to flip the line over the tree can have long lasting effects on the forest.

    Awesome channel man , subbed. I don't know much about timber but why not try and yard the big log up and outta the gulch with a snatch block or somethin onto flatter land?

    Cool way to peel the bark off the log.

      I was actually hoping the bark would stay on until I was done dragging it through the dirt. Then I could peel the dirt off with the bark.

    3 logs filled the trailer, I finally bought a winch for my tractor early last summer and I sure needed it many years ago.

    In this situation a block and tackle would have been handy to increase your pulling power, you would however have to stop and reset you chain attached to the block and tackle and the log.

    Hi, was your MF tractor originally a Backhoe? Just curious. I like your set-up for your forks. I wish I could see everything the way you have built it. Very nice job. I would like to build a set for mine. I have a Ford 2110 , 40 HP 4x4 tractor. You do very well for running a two wheel drive tractor on the mountain. I have a 351P Farmi winch on my machine. Game changer on my property. Big rocks, gully, really uneven hard to get to areas. My brother has a Woodmizer LT 40. He has had that for a very long time. I like the size of your machine, it works very nice for your situation. My brother is a Logger. I helped him when he first started 41-42 years ago, and then on Summer breaks from school. I also would help him every winter after I got laid off from construction till the Spring. You look very experienced in the woods so I assume you are a Logger, or have been one. Thanks for sharing, I enjoy your videos.

      That tractor is an MF 30, which was one of their industrial tractors. It did originally come as a backhoe. In that configuration it is an MF 34. It has been an incredibly reliable tractor. Maybe I should do a video on it someday.
      I started working in the woods with my dad when I was a young kid, so I have picked up a few things along the way.
      Thank you for your comments.

    What is that winch rated for? I’m thinking of getting one also. Great video.

      I don’t even know. I got it from my dad, it’s been in the family around 30 years. I never did see the ratings. If you want to look it up, it’s a Farmi 501. Thanks for the comment.

    Check your right-rear tire; I think it's filled with helium.

      I should probably check the left one too. I had the axle locked, you just couldn’t see the left one from those angles. The steep terrain and muddy ground didn’t help any.

    I OWN THIS EXACT TRACTOR WITH THE LARGE BACKHOE (MF52) I THINK... INTERESTING HOW MF DIDNT PLACE GREASE FITTINGS ON ALL THE LOADER/BACKHOE PINS , BUT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THERE IS HARDLY ANY WEAR ON THEM ONES. IS THAT A FACTORY CANOPY OR CUSTOM?THANK YOU!

    • @WilsonForestLands
      @WilsonForestLands  9 месяцев назад

      When my grandfather originally bought this one, it had the backhoe. It was taken off and left out on the coast and grown over with blackberries and got all rusted up. It already had the canopy on it when he got it. It has a tag on it with another manufacturers name on it so I am guessing it was aftermarket.

    My Darlington winch would pull that log no problem

    • @WilsonForestLands
      @WilsonForestLands  Год назад

      If your winch was on the tractor and it didn’t pull the log, it would probably pull the tractor backward.
