My man, easily the best and most in-depth review on these so far that I have seen.
I actually decided to buy these, even though I was 100% done with gaming headsets, and I've had a great pair of Beyerdynamic dt770 Pro 80ohm for so many years now (probably 6 years or so), with different mics.. boom-arm + mic setup, modmic on the side etc. etc.
However... every reviewer says that the sound in these are AMAZING and the Mic is clearly one of the very best in any headset what so ever... definitely too expensive, especially since I'm not going to use it for anything other than PC... but, the sound, mic and wireless that all works so great, made me pull the trigger.

Glad I found your video! I truly enjoyed it and this has been by far the most informative comprehensive review I have seen. I have been toying with the idea of the Astro A 50’s due to playing on a PS5 and wanting to stream without having to use discord to communicate. I do very much hate having to use a chat link cable. Anyways, thanks for putting this video together!! PS I subbed.

Definitely agree about the extremely niche connection thing. Especially since my consoles and PC are not in the same spot. I was debating on the G Pro X2 but ended up keeping my old HyperX cloud alpha for consoles and bought AKG K371 headphones and a Deity VO 7U mic. Gotta love sales.
Loved my Astro A50s 4th gen for years but I recently switched to the Turtle Beach Stealth Pros and I love them. Much better sound quality and features but the Astros were a bit more comfortable. Threw some Wicked Cushions on my Stealth Pros and they are amazing now. Great review!
Omg, finally I found the solution for game/chat mix for ps5!! Just got today and ended in frustration. Going to try it tomorrow

Appreciate all the information on the A50x. One thing I noticed is that during the noise gate test you talked the entire time so the noise gate never got the chance to activate, so that feature wasn’t properly tested. Otherwise great video.
Just bought the headset, huge fan of these because it’s so convenient to switch to Xbox Series X to PS5 while all being connected to my phone. Was a little frustrated why the Logitech PS5 video made my headset audio sound off, so watching your video made so much sense thanks for the help, keep up the good work!

Im looking to give wireless headsets another try. My daily is my old HyperX Cloud Stingers wired. Tried the BlackShark v2 pro wireless and was meh. Tried a few other wired and wireless hyperx headsets and none seemed to blow me away enough to keep so I stuck with my stingers for longer. I wanted to try out the Turtle beach stealth pros but expensive and doesn't seem to justify the price. The Logitech G Pro x2 wireless is what im looking at trying next. Sucks the mic isnt very good. May also just wait for the Sony Pulse Elites with planar drivers to see how those are. Ugh. What do you recommend?

i wonder how well this works for someone who had surround sound audio system running through a receiver. How functional are is the hdmi switcher, does it affect HDR things like that. We probably have to wait for a home theatre channel to check this out.
Would u recommend getting the Astro A50 gen 4 or the Steel Series Arctis Nova Pro instead of the A50X if I’m only using the Xbox Series X? I’m not too concerned with the price aspect but I’d rather have my money be spent right if the best features for the A50X wouldn’t be applicable to me.
This mic sounds simply AMAZING! Barely noticed when u changed from the streamer mic to the Astro's mic. Really great, but 380 is sick T_T

i wanted to ask is the hyperx cloud orbit s is as good as the audeze maxwell for sound quality and clarity? aside from the build quality and comfort and being wireless
Orbit S is basically the Penrose. So not quite on the level of the Maxwell but it's very good still.
Completely agree with ur take on the maxwells. The dialogue of characters sounds too airy, and just unnatural. Guess I’ll have to try these out.

I have a ton of questions with Hub/EQ and ps5. I love the community sharing. However, the app doesn’t reflect the custom preset I downloaded. How do I know if my preset custom is on and is only way to switch presets is thru hub?

Hi i just got my a50x headphones ive been trying to set them up for PS5 but i tried everything i dont get no picture when i turn the headphones on the light just ligs up on the headphones only the base dock is not coming on i tried the instructions it came with nothing can you do some kind of video on how to plug thre wires in and how to set it up thank you very much
When using on the ps5 does it cap the HZ at 60? I’ve been using the Astro HDMI adapter for years and that’s capped me at 60HZ, so gonna by a new headset and I’m wanting one that doesn’t cap me
This headset is worth the purchase. There’s only one feature that I like on here. Is you able to lower your teammate voice down in a game this is plus for me.

Recommend a camera for storing streams. Elgato face camera, Logitech Brio, razer kiyo pro?? But I heard that the Razer Kiyo Pro has problems with the software and it often freezes and glitches.
If you have the money, Kiyo Pro Ultra is the best.
Other than that, the Kiyo Pro is the best value and the Brio is best performing under $150.

Was thinking the same😂. All this trouble and as consecuence big $$$ for a feature just a handful of people "need". I bought Maxwell for less and r great for music too. For Pc U can buy PC58x or HD 560.. So much cheaper way better options in the market... Feel this will go for $200 before July.
I play on Xbox only have a40s going to upgrade to a50 but unsure if to go a50gen4 or a50x is the a50x worth the extra I will only b using them on the 1 consol

Not the TYGR 300 since I've been focusing on headsets with a mic specifically lately. Maybe the MMX 300 Gen 2 - a lot comes down to if I can justify the out of pocket cost.

Can you play PS 5 while listening to an audio from your PC at the same time? I have 2 monitors and I usually have RUclips playing on the second monitor while im playing

for those who know ...the astro update for the old amps to work with USB sound on series x/s and PS5 made the sound worse ....if yo take that same amp and use it on an older console with optical it sounds worse .... an HDMI pass through basically gave u back the OG sond your mic had...that was the fix ..
Astro is basically doing that same thing and everyone is thinking they are getting real good sound but they are actually getting the sound we had before on ps4 and xb1 lmfao

I don't have that one specifically but it's fully compatible with the Elgato 4K60 Pro. I've been using it to Discord stream to my friend while still being able to hear the audio.

You got here in the video Game Audio over HDMI and Chat Audio over USB C. Can you please explain here? Did not found any information. You are the one and only, who talk about it.
Yeah I tested it in a party chat. You have to set it up the same way I did in this video:
Connect PS5 to the Base Station using HDMI and USB-C. Go to Settings > Sound. Make mic input A50 X. Make sound output A50 X. Scroll down and make the headset audio output voice chat only.
In Party chat only 😢
@@luisaponte8022 How would you prefer I test it? If you're in party chat while in game you can mix game and voice perfectly.
I play through regular game chat on call of duty old steelseries used to be able to use game/chat mix on ps4 as of now I have yet to find a headset that lets you do it on ps5 most only work while on a Ps party

Hi I ordered my a50x about two days ago they been shipped out today can't wait to get mine there like the Cadillac of headphones or king those audeze Maxwell I regret buying those there too too too heavy for every day gaming I haven't used mine for 2 months it's like putting a helmet on and the app sucks I'm currently using the Logitech pro x 2 wireless headphones for PS5 and the turtle beach stealth pro wireless headphones my go to headphones are Logitech pro x 2 wireless headphones one thing I like about the new a50x you now have a phone app you can tweak the sound not just for PC only it will sound the same on console which I love because I play a lot of sports games and Spiderman and the last of us to these should be the last gaming headphones you need for many many years stay safe and happy gaming to all
Yeah it would in terms of sound quality, the maxwells are the best sounding for pretty much everything on console except fps and even there it’s not bad just not the best
My main headset was Astro a50 and after they broke few weeks ago I started to use my maxwell. Imo these are not as good as what Astro was.

If you ever actually test the battery life update this review. Some reviewers claim 15h and that will decrease after 1-2 years as well.
After using these a lot longer, I'd say 15 is about max.

You don't need the HDMI for PC.

@@arashgames7 There's a red power cable in the box. One end has USB-C. Plug that into the Base Station. The other end is split with USB-C and USB-A. Plug the USB-C side into the power brick the headset comes with and plug the power brick into an outlet. The USB-A end goes into your PC.

@@lucasbotti8218 Fortunately there's both pleather and cloth pads in the box so you can choose which one you want.
good review, but i dont think a50x are made for the ps5, there is no dolby audio/atmos. Only 3d audio and thats awful in my opinion especially for shooter games.
Atmos is actually detrimental for FPS games too. It just applies a filter on top of the existing game audio. That's how all virtual sound effects are in headphones with two drivers.
I believe Sony gave the ps5 a recent update that allows dolby atmos

For 380 I expect something better.
I've had the headset for 3 days. And I just get a headache. No matter what you switch off and put down. It RUNS all the damn time. It stays the same loud the whole time. Unless you also set your voice to be heard. Then the noise is 4 times as loud. Does anyone have a solution. How to fix this? Even if the dock has no power. The headset hisses.
Most sincere review to date. Purchasing is not worth purchasing at all if you do not have all of the three devices, despite the fact that many more reviews in the future will attempt to defend this headset's value for anybody other than someone who wants to use it for those three devices simultaneously. Simply put do not buy this headset if you don't want to use it for Xbox, PS5 and PC at the same time.

So i decided to pull the trigger on NOV 2, 2023 and order a pair of the A50 GEN 4's for $399.96 CDN ............... literally 1 week later i noticed the price dropped to $299.99 ............ and now they released the A50 X with an IMPROVED MIC?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! 😭😭 Im currently in shambles after hearing the mic quality on the A50 X 🤦🏾♂ WHY DIDNT I WAIT FOR THESE??!?!?! *sigh*
