    I know Kecleon is a pushover in the main series games but just remember to NEVER, EVER mess with a kecleon in the Mystery dungeon games cuz in those games he's the most OP pokemon in the game even more so than legendaries.
    Also the solution to #2 would be either a new evolution in Gen 7 or a new Mega in Gen 7 Mega Yanmega.

      First of all, there are no IVs in Crystal, only determined values. Second of all, any Pokémon can be used in the main game since the A.I. is dumber than a bag of rocks, and it almost seems like stats don't matter; I've been able to one-shot Gyarados and Dragonite for example with any Pokémon, but they withstand a lot more in the future generations

    man i have to agree about the Unknown. their design is not great and neither is their stats/move set (one move..lol)
    what made me like them as a kid was simply the mystery to them and the only reason i could say that i still kind of like them is because they were never fully explained.. and i spent so much time in those caves trying to solve all the puzzles and exploring it, simply because i wanted to know what their deal was o.o
    turns out pokemon kept them a mystery which is disapointing because i'd honestly would like to know more about where they came from and such..
    in terms of usefullness, i'd never bother to use one of them..

    For my it has to be Mightyena.
    Dogs are my favourite animal but up until Gen 3, the only dog pokemon were Arcanine, Houndoom and the Eeveeloutions. I always chose the fire starter so my team had no place for Arcanine, Flareon or Houndoom but in Gen 3, there is both a Psychic gym leader AND a Ghost type Elite Four member, who were both were pains in the ass for my Blaziken as well as Mightyena being available right from the start and learning its STAB moves pretty quickly.
    I didn't care about stats and only used pokemon based on look so Mightyena seemed like a perfect pokemon for me. Then I learnt about the lack of physical/special split, Mightyena's poor special attack and its shit movepool. To this day, even with an improved movepool and having a STAB for it's higher offensive stat, Mightyena is barely scraping the bottom of the NU tier. I cri evertim

      +NoForksGiven I agree. I wanted to use one in Omega Ruby, hoping they had improved him since the last time I used one. NOPE. NOPE NOPE. I used him as long as I could anyway, because it just looks so cool. I gave it a nice nickname--Crocodile, after Sir Crocodile of the ONE PIECE manga--and tried to train it as best I could.
      It just kept being a burden to the rest of the team.
      Whyyyyyyyyyy.

    Oh Flygon... Why does Game Freak hate you so much...? First they give you underwhelming stats and movepool... then they give a rival you hopelessly compete against in Salamence... then they destroy your unique typing by adding Garchomp the next Gen... Then they give uber and overrated Salamence a Mega while you are completely left in the dust... and like Yanmega... No Bug/Dragon? Seriously...
    Nonetheless I still love that thing... But now I can't really use on competitively anymore...

    • @YayChocolateYay
      @YayChocolateYay 10 лет назад

      Is Salamance really overrated? It's about as popular as Flygon, from what I've seen. Unless you're talking in terms of power.

    • @PyraXadon
      @PyraXadon 10 лет назад

      Xen You say that salamence isn't overrated and is as popular as Flygon. Salamence has a mega evolution. Flygon does not. Salamence is in OU tier. Flygon is UU and has been UU for 3 generations. Flygon is my favorite pokemon, and for SOME reason, Gamefreak just says...nah. T^T

    • @YayChocolateYay
      @YayChocolateYay 10 лет назад

      ***** Well yeah, I was talking strictly in terms of popularity. c:
      In my previous comment I said that Flygon and Salamence are about equal when in comes to that, but after visiting more Pokemon fan sites, I'm starting to think Flygon is even more popular.
      Everywhere I go, Flygon is everyone's favorite Pokemon. And maybe it's just the people who were awaiting a mega-evo and were disappointed, thus making them post more about it, but still. Salamence has more power, that I will not argue, but from recent polls, it seems that Flygon is the favorite. :3

    You know what people should stop caring about? Stats. This is all that matters now. People only care for the strongest pokemon, and letting the least competitive ones out of the bowl. That is just plain stupid. Nuzlockes and my passion for pokemon, excuse me, real passion, let me love each and every single pokemon. Just because they aren't strong, doesn't mean you can't love them or use them, even if not competitive. Get that in your head fans.

    • @TheWilly879

      Dieter Carrasco It destroys the whole purpose of pokemon. That means you don't like them because of what they are, you like them for the stats, which is dumb. Of course, you are free to do so, i just think it is WRONG.

      @TheWilly879 9 лет назад +3

      Umbrella Well I agree with you to be honest after you made your statement a bit more clear.You see all my friends are saying my Milktank is lame just because it doesn't have the BEST stats..I mean I play with it on Pokemon Amie a lot and it gains my trust and battles alongside me.
      If you go on global battles litteraly 99 % of trainers have teams full of legandaries in their battle box they don't ever care about ordinary cool Pokemon like Flygon or Milktank.

    • @camilles4441
      @camilles4441 9 лет назад +4

      Umbrella I have never EVER cared about the stats of pokemon. I go based on looks (which i probably shouldnt but hey I can do whatever I want with my fake animal monsters) Dragon types for example are my favourite, Dratini is the cutest thing ever and Charizard is a fucking badass ( I know its not a dragon, but it might as well be one) I usually try and play with varying pokemon during my play throughs but I will always have my favourites and its nothing to do with type or stats. Maybe its because I have played it for 17 years now, I still have that sense of wonder of finding cool pokemon

      @animemaniacforever 9 лет назад

      Camille Schneider I was born with pokemon, molded by it. YOU MERELY ADOPT- Ok, it's fine if you like something for what they are, i just don't like when people go "oh, dragons are so cool, they are so much power" and stuff like that. Unfortunally, a lot of the pokemon community is like that.

    Here's mine (All from Gen 1)
    1. Scyther: Very rare and hard to catch and was considered an awesome & dominant pokemon in the anime. Unfortunately it was a Bug/Flying type that didn't learn any offensive Bug/Flying moves (you couldn't even teach it Fly!). This meant at level 100 its moves would consist of Slash, Quick Attack and Double Team. (Admittedly it improved in future generations)
    2. Pinser: Another rare bug pokemon that looked impressive and appeared strong in the anime but didn't learn any offensive moves of its type. A bug pokemon with just normal type moves made it useless,
    3. Butterfree: You could get one early in the game and is very useful in the beginning as it evolves very quickly but stagnates after level 25 and stops learning moves after level 34. Like Scyther, it's a Bug/Flying type that couldn't learn any offensive Bug/Flying moves.
    4. Charizard: Somewhat controversial but Charmander was my least favourite starter pokemon. It was fully evolved long before it learnt Flamethrower and only late in the game would you get the Fire Blast TM. Until this point it was Slash and Ember (why didn't it learn Fire Punch?).
    5. Poliwrath: A Water/Fighting type that learnt no fighting moves. This made it unnecessarily weak to Psychic and Flying types. The Fighting element wouldn't have been too advantageous anyway as Water is already super effective against Rock types and Ice is already not very effective against Water Pokemon.
    6. Beedrill: Ok, you get the drift; Bug Pokemon sucked in this Generation. The only offensive Bug moves were Leech life, (which could only be learnt by Zubat/Golbat which were poison/flying types) and Twin Needle (only learnt by Beedrill, which was also a Poison so would still have his ass handed to him by Psychics). Beedrill was a Posion type that could only learn Poison Sting (even though there were only three offensive Poison type attacks in the game).
    7. Weezing: Only Smog, Poison Sting and Sludge attack were offensive Poison type moves. Poison Sting was incredibly weak (15 power), Smog not much better (20 power) and Sludge was 65 power which is very average for a flagship type attack. Poison Pokemon were also only super effective against Grass and Bug (weak) types in this game. Muk had a strong defence and could learn moves like Body Slam so he escapes this list, Weezing couldn't...
    8. Haunter: I really liked Haunter in the game and his stats were quite good but it was very disappointing that Ghosts were described as 'Super Effective' against Psychics when in the first generation the one Ghost type attack (lick) did not affect Psychic pokemon and as all the ghosts were also Poison, it was actually Psychic Pokemon that were super effective against Ghosts! Night Shade was a normal type attack in this generation and adding the Poison element only made your pokemon weak to Ground and Psychic attacks. Ghastly, Haunter and Genger were also Poison types that did not learn any offensive Poison type attacks.
    9. Genger: Same as Haunter
    10. Hitmonchan: Weak defence and only learnt 1 Fighting type move (Counter, at level 53). Hitmonlee was a much better choice

Jolteon was a lightning slinging speed demon... Then there was Flareon. I expected it to be the Prince of Fire Types but what I got instead was a Fire Type that couldn't do jack diddly with FIRE TYPE moves.

    Honestly, I think Flygon is a very effective Pokémon if used right. And his typing, being dragon/ground, makes him all the more bulky considering ground type resistances and immunities compared to flying. Oh, complaints about no immunity to ground moves like Earthquake? Levitate, BAM. Flygon's many resistances and almost unheard of immunity to two different types makes him all the more reliable in my eyes. But that's just me.

    The Pokemon that Disappointed me the most, was EVERY SINGLE BUG TYPE EVER. Pokemon is 20 years old this year, Everyone knows now that there is never a good powerful bug, and "Bug Catcher" Is considered an early game easy win, but when I was 10, and Pokemon came out? We didn't know that kind of thing. Let me explain, My nickname, from birth, was Bug. I use Bug for all my online Screen names, and as a very intelligent, precocious child, I knew a lot about bugs at the time. All I ever wanted as a kid, was a single, powerful, well-trained bug I could kick my big brother's butt with when we linked with our fancy sparkly Gameboy link cable. I'm 30 now, and I still haven't met a bug type that's useful after you reach about level 15. I never did get an awesome Bug/thing that makes bug less nerfed, and now it's too late to find one to kick Bubba's butt with.
    On another note, I'm REALLY hoping the early adopter exclusive Munchlax/Snorlax coming with Sun and Moon is really awesome, because I plan to name mine Bubba in my brother's memory, and I'd really like to be able to use him competitively.

    • @CassyBug

      I always kind of hated pure status moves. And really by the time you were allowed to game link your team, The Butterfree really was useless. If you read all my comment, you notice I said Bugs disappointed me because I couldn't use them to fight my older brother, Who always had a flying type on his team and was generally a better strategist (I was 13, He was 15!) and my Nickname is Bug, I did once kick his butt with a Snorlax I named Bubba though :)

    • @thirteenfury
      @thirteenfury 9 лет назад

      Tropius with a Harvest-Sitrus Berry combo can be a powerhouse and/or a wall in competitive play. Clawitzer I can't defend; it should've been dual type or at least get its own signature pulse move to take better advantage of Mega Launcher.

    • @yabba133
      @yabba133 9 лет назад

      thirteenfury Tropius is outclassed by exeggutor and Trevenant and can't do jack shit outside of NU

    • @thirteenfury
      @thirteenfury 9 лет назад

      IntelligentTrees2 True, especially Harvest-Sitrus Trevenant. But isn't Exeggutor not that much better tier-wise? I thought it was RU tier, or at least lower than OU.

    • @yabba133
      @yabba133 9 лет назад

      thirteenfury Yeah, exeggutor is terrible, but it's still better than tropius, unfortunately. Tropius's typing isn't great either. 4x weakness to ice with 2x weaknesses to fire, poison, rock, and flying. Those are all really common attacking types. and his stats are kind of awful

    • @thirteenfury
      @thirteenfury 9 лет назад +2

      IntelligentTrees2 Tbh, Tropius is one of the Pokémon I love to use in story mode but rarely/don't use in the Battle Tower and live battles. Along with Delibird--yes, really--and Castform. I always thought of story mode as the perfect setting for using gimmicky and/or disappointing Pokémon.

    Always fun to see XD: GoD references in videos seeing as how it usually isn't mentioned much, which is sad since it truly is one of my favorites.'
    I definitely agree on you with Delibird; I was so excited to capture it and I just remember the first time I used it in a battle: had the opponent in the red...then Delibird came and healed it and I died. THANKS DELIBIRD.
    One of my personal disappointments was Empoleon. I've always gravitated towards water-type starters (gen 2 being the only exception, I'd gotten Cyndaquil) so naturally I'd chosen Piplup. I remember only getting it to level 40 before boxing it because it was just useless with the rest of my team and constantly died on me. I can't say if it was just how I built my team since I remember next to nothing about then gen, but it is definitely the first and only starter I've had that I've boxed and never used again.

  • @puglife8041
    @puglife8041 10 лет назад +6

    Actually, Emboar is pretty terrible. Sure, his attack is amazing, but his speed and defenses are terrible. You either have a really fast and strong but frail Pokemon, (a glass cannon) or a bulky and strong but slow Pokemon. (A tank) But when you throw all of the stats into attack power, they have the disadvantage of the glass cannon (frail) and the disadvantage from the tank. (slow) Frail and slow DO NOT mix. I don't know what GameFreak was thinking on that one.

    • @bowser12321

      It has decent HP so he can take a hit and learns Flame Charge naturally and at an early level to help its speed or use it on a Trick Room team. Plus, he's extremely useful in Pokemon Black. There's a Normal, Bug, and Ice gym, plus the Ground type gym leader has two Pokemon weak to Fighting and he can learn Rollout to take care of the Flying gym. Also, Emboar is the only Fire starter to learn Scald. He is not as bad as you think.

    • @puglife8041
      @puglife8041 10 лет назад

    I feel like Unown can be viably useful if given three things:
    -The ability to use TMs and HMs
    -A new ability (Magic Guard?)
    -This move called "Within Power": a Normal type move that varies depending on how many different types of Unown you catch; every single type would give this attack 10 base power. Collect 5 different Unown and this move has 50 base power. That means, collect all 28 and this move has 280 base power. This move also switches to a type super effective towards the target.
    There. I made Unown go from PU to Uber in one go.

      +shanobian Doesn't change the fact that the Japanese word for "dragonfly" is "tonbo" and has nothing to do with dragons at all. That's also the reason why U-turn (tonbogaeri) is a bug-type move by the way.
      Back in Generation 2 when Yanma was introduced, it would've been understandable that the Japanese developers failed to make the connection between dragonflies and dragons. That would not be the case by Gen 4 however so Yanmega is definitely a missed opportunity.

    My number one has to be Weavile. Sneasel was my favorite back in G/S/C but even as a kid I knew it was kinda worthless back then. So then it gets an evolution, post type-attack split, and honestly, it still sucked. It's usable but too easy to kill. Gen IV and V were the only gens I battled online and every time I brought a Weavile, he was usually got one decent attack out and was then promptly destroyed.
    Honorable mention to Lapras. Again, it's not terrible, but even with a very diverse move pool, there's almost no reason I could think of for putting it on a team.

    • @amonkey98
      @amonkey98 9 лет назад +15

      Xerneas and Yveltal have the exact same stats. Compared to other legendary pokemon, Xerneas is one of the faster ones. Granted Xerneas's move pool is a tad weird learning mostly physical attacks, but its signature move, Geomancy, coupled with moonblast and psyshock is a devastating combination.

    • @InuYashaandKagomeROK
      @InuYashaandKagomeROK 9 лет назад

      Infinite Monkey Again, I will make this clear: I HATE that useless stag. I refuse to use a supposed LEGENDARY Pokemon which has THE WORST POSSIBLE NATURAL LEARNSET for ANY known main Legendary Pokemon. Why? I HATE using status moves outside of Quiver Dance, Coil, and Roost. Calm Mind is okay, but, umm, yeah.... Geomancy takes 2 full turns to fully activate, 3 if you count having to wait another turn to attack after Geomancy's effect is applied. In that time, Mega Aero or Speed Boost Scolipede or Aggron could DESTROY that stag, and it has happened to me before. Yes, I know they share stats, but compare the following tally of naturally learned moves: Xerneas: 9 Status, 7 Physical, and a measly 2 Special moves. Total: 18 moves. Its TM/HM list is: 18 Status as one is in its natural learnset, 6 Physical as one is again in its natural learnest, and 12 Special. Total TH/HM list is: 36. ORAS Tutors for it are: 6 total to compensate for naturally or TM ones. Total Status moves learned: 29. Total Physical moves learned: 15. Total Special moves learned: 16. Total Damaging moves learned: 31. Grand total: 60 moves. NONE of which are Play Rough. Now on to Yveltal: Naturalset: Status: 4, Physical: 5, and Special: 9. Total: 18. TM/HM: Status: 12 new ones, Physical: 15, Special: 5 new ones. Total TM/HM: 32. ORAS Tutor: Status: 1. Physical: 2. Special: 3. Total: 6. Grand Totals: Status: 17. Physical: 18. Special: 17. Totals: Status: 17. Damaging: 35. Grand Total: 52. Overall: Xerneas has more moves, yes. By 8. ALL are STATUS EFFECTS. See the difference here? Xerneas requires set up. ALOT of it. Yveltal can OHKO many things with its diverse movepool right from the off. My point is, Xerneas pales by comparison to Yveltal. End of.

    • @amonkey98
      @amonkey98 9 лет назад +9

      So you don't like Xerneas because you don't know how to use it effectively. You have a set battle style and Xerneas does not fit in it. That's fine. But that does not make it a bad or failed pokemon. Just a pokemon that you do not want to use.

    5:09 - Ohey I recognise that video footage. Quite surreal to see a video clip from one of my videos in another video.
    But yeah when I first encountered Delibird and realised it sucked, I had a sad. Except I stuck with it, taught it Icy Wind and used it against Claire. Surprisingly held its own, at least until Kingdra. Nowadays any game with Delibird in I will catch and actively raise it. I had it in my main party on Sun for quite some time before I ended up having to replace it with Alolan Ninetales.

    i actually like dragalge. good defenses as you mentioned, and adaptability helps him hit hard while tanking hits. If anything, I felt Goodra who you recommended we use instead was the real disappointment for the same reasons you listed as Dragalge; has all that special defense but not a too many utility moves or any reliable healing. Plus, Goodra is a Psuedo legendary which (and the only single typed one which is lame af), making him already have very high expectations which I feel he just doesn't live up to. Oh well, to each his own, and still enjoyed the video :)

    Dude total agreement for Embor.
    I did not even really care for Infernape, I chose Piplup in Gen 4 for the Get Richity Richity Rekked Water Steal combonation.

    Mine was Delphox. I really wanted it to have access to a ton of different types of moves, but it's mostly just fire, psychic, dark, ghost, etc. It would have been awesome to have it be based on a wizard AND get a water type move, ice type move, etc. etc. I know it gets a bunch of stuff, but I wanted Flamethrower, Icebeam and Thunderbolt on my Delphox, just like a Final Fantasy black mage.
    Oh well.

    Yeah, being a Fire starter enthusiast myself I was disappointed by everything mentioned about Emboar.
    Ariados is my favorite Bug from Gen II...but yeah, back then they had very poorly decided movepools...I still use him though :P
    A Bug/Dragon would be pretty neat.
    Lastly, Unknown J for life :P

    End game Pokemon (or those that don't become pretty good/unique by that point) are what really get me. Most Dragons, pseudo-legendaries, or those like Sneasel are so cool to have, but whenever I usually get one, there is little more use for them at that point.

    BAH! I always use Delibird in my main team. Last time through I ended up with this:
    - Delibird (Flying/Ice)
    - Shuckle (Bug/Rock)
    - Slowking (Water/Psychic)
    - Torkoal (Fire)
    - Rotom (Ghost/Electric)
    - Flygon (Dragon/Ground)
    Not a fierce team, but I think that it has character.

    For me, it was Cryogonal. I remember playing Pokemon White and randomly coming across it in a cave. I actually thought it may have been a legendary because it looked so majestic to me. I ended up KO'ing that one, only to spend four to six hours looking for another one. It's not a bad Pokemon to me. Just not what I hoped. Especially after his long I spent looking for it.

    I remember being let down by bug types in gen 1. I really wanted them to be good but didn't know they capped in value around level 20ish. Beedrill wasn't really effective against anything as most grass types were also poison and psychic types were just laughably strong and could one shot him. I managed to beat the game with him in my roster, but he was certainly carried by others like Zapdos. Actually, I think Zapdos did almost everything at one point.

    To be fair, Draglage is given a blessing within adaptability. Its one of my favourite Pokemon and with the choice specs it hits like a truck. As long as you've cleared the foe's steel types

    Pokemon isn't just a game of battling. It's a game for collectors. Unkown is a challenge to collect the alphabet. Nothing more. A Sidequest to the pokedex quest. People forget these days that the point is to catch em all, not breed up the crazy strongest and beat your friends.

    I am with you on Flygon, Dragalge, Delibird, and Kecleon. I still love Flygon, Dragalge and Delibird (even used Dragalge in X and Flygon in Emerald) but I wanted them (especially Dragalge) to be a bit stronger 😢

    I have to agree with number one. F*** yeah! Look mama, I caught the letter A! And a short while later you get taken to the loony bin. I agree with Ariados as well. I loved the idea of them for the same reasons, but I was also very disappointed for the same reasons. Emboar definitely needed to learn more fighting type moves, so while I might have made him an honorable mention instead of including him on the list outright, I still agree with you. I think I might put Ditto on the list. Sure he can transform into any Pokemon it faces, but if your ditto turns into my Venusaur after I use Take Down, your chances of beating me are remote, because that attack is rather brutal and I think I could knock your Ditto out with two more Take Downs. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, but I think the best thing about Ditto is if you're facing someone who lets loose a grass type, then withdraws it after you use Transform and sends out a water or ground or rock type. So with a lucky chance you could absolutely OWN an opponent. Ditto's biggest bit of usefulness is sitting back, getting laid and getting you baby Pokemon. Because who wouldn't want an Azurill after the colossal disappointment of Marill and Azumarill?

    I remember how disappointed I was to learn that I needed to trade a Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler or Haunter to be able to evolve it. Plenty of people had a Gameboy and Pokemon games....but a link cable was a rare thing indeed.

    The way you caught Yanma was by registering the phone of that hiker (outside the cave by the slowpoke well). He would call you from time to time and say that Yanma were swarming, which greatly increased the encounter rate. There were several pokemon like this (Marrill as well).
