Just fantastic! In 1950, when I was a 7 year boy, I was already enchanted with Zino Francescatti playing the violin. 10 years later I played parts of this concerto...

How wonderful it is to have such memories! I admire anyone who can play the violin! (as a simple listener, the violin is my favorite instrument)

Since I heard Francescatti play this wonderful work of Paganini, long time ago, he is the top violinist in History, in my opinion.

Zino Francescatti studied violin with his father, who studied with Camillo Sivori- the only known student of Paganini himself.
So his playing is the closest we will ever have to the true sound of Paganini.

Well, that is, until Paganini himself can be brought back using cutting-edge reincarnation technology.
      (They're working on it.)

Zino Francescatti! Thank you so much for this! I recognise Jascha Heifetz as the greatest, but Zino is the fiddler who I can never fall out of love with. My all time favourite. As the french writer on music said "Zino nous quitte le 17 Septembre 1991,mais
dans tous les cours Zino reste"

Yes, Zino left, but Zino remains with us ... Nice, very nice homage!

      Mmmm....
I like to think of great musical artists as we think of our children (or should).
There is no need to compare or rank.
Each is uniquely *the greatest* in his or her own way.
It is not a zero sum game.
We have more than enough love -- infinite love -- in our hearts for all of them.
      🙂

when I haven't found this, I thought Accardo was already the top artist in the world.
Then he's the 2nd best now

Wonderful tone. I prefer him for Beethoven because of his rich tone and harmonics well played. Not bad here either
