The fact that he made the great point that Issac wouldn't move unnecessarily, and yet has such unique hand movements when in character, actually gives Issac a deeper personality in my mind. Isaac is choosing to do these hand movements to express himself, he's not just responding.
I really hope we get a season 4. The show is so good. One of a kind.
I truly wonder how some shows get 10 seasons of nonsense ,while we have to hope and pray great shows like this get renewed. Well fingers crossed I guess.
Last episode titled Unknown Future. But episode feels like a long goodbye - maybe just in case. 😉🍀
@@christinearmington yeah just in case they don't get renewed..
bruh it's star trek and star wars and Stargate and galaxy quest rolled up into 1 show
I expected it to be a Star Trek parody, but it's really more of a pastiche. It's similar in style, but more homage than mockery, and it manages to be its own thing. The tone is less Family Guy and more Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Doctor Who. Sort of. Comedic, sometimes broadly, but still emotionally grounded and not at the expense of drama or sincere allegory/metaphor. And it's "cheesy" in a way that works, which is a difficult balance.
The most similar show currently running is probably Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. But there's definitely a distinction. There's room for both.
Mark Jackson is such an incredible actor and brings Issac alive in a way only he can.
I think so too, casting Mark Jackson for the role was a good choice
The best episode is when he finally got to be out of costume on camera dating the doctor
@@miamisasquatch Yeah but it was strange when they made him date this lady who was so much older than him
I particularly like that he plays an expressionless robot but uses his hands brilliantly to give the character some expression. Watch his hand & finger movements, very unique.
He's basically C3PO but his finger wiggle more.
Indeed, and in total contrast with Data, whose facial expression are everything (paradoxically).
See what I mean here:
ruclips.net/video/bl5TUw7sUBs/видео.html
He should do audiobooks. He has a really nice voice.
I agree.
Me too
Me three
The Orville has turned out to be a wonderful journey of incredible sci-fi writing.. There's so much going on beyond just the comedic moments. Every season is getting better and better and I hope they continue with many, many more seasons.
S3 is hardly a comedy haha it’s great regardless
The Orville has really been hitting me in the feels this season. It's quality stuff.
Yes, aside from the unfortunate Woketard elements, it certainly is a great show.
Id love a bit more comedy in the 3rd season though....just feels like what defined it against Star Trek was saying the things and making the jokes star trek never dared to make.
@@DUCKDUCKGOISMUCHBETTER lol, i'm loving the 'woketard' episodes! Dealing with complex issues very well
Really impressed with The Orville. It just gets better and better. The visuals in the 3rd season are just amazing on top of great stories.
Agreed. Brilliantly colorful! ❤️
This man is an excellent actor. When Issaac got emotions, he was just great. At each point of realizations he was right on.
Stroke of genius casting Mark Jackson. That guy is brilliant as Isaac. He truly 'gets' the part and his talent really brings it alive.
Lived with him for a year at uni. Nice guy, funny too. Weird when I saw his name on the credits. He looks pretty much the same.
How cool!!
I've heard these kinds of comments about most of the cast! Very cool that they all seem to be nice people in real life
Isaac has easily become my favorite character. But I was always Mr. Spock and Data fan, So it seems natural progression. My only problem with season two is that after Identity, he got very little screen time. And considering he just betrayed his entire race to save humanity, his character arc deserves a lot more.
Not finished yet. ;)
@MagicalMystery, now that we've got New Horizons, and we're seeing the fallout from Isaac's storyline in Season 2, are you happy with the direction they've gone, and how they've handled it? I love Isaac too. Easily just as much as I hate Klyden, so I'm happy we've gotten some exploration into his story.
@@cubbance Stumbled on this video and read this comment. Came to ask the same question about Isaac's most recent arc.
@@cubbance Klyden is kind of a tragic character, he/she's somewhat selfloathing, we learned he was born a female and altered, and he had come to accept it as the culturally morally correct thing.... It was what gave him some kind of comfort. Then people start questioning what he had gone through tearing up old scars and his entire being that he had finally come to terms with and it threatened his whole world and self-image. I have to agree, I wouldn't enjoy his personality until his attempt at redemption in this(now) recent episode.. But I guess any TV series needs difficult people.
I was always a big Data/Worf fan, and now I'm an Isaac/Bortus fan!
he should play a young Picard
I couldn't agree more.
I can very much see that
Indeed
Yes
I totally can see him playing the past Picard! He's a great actor!
So glad they let the Actor behind the character shine. I had a feeling when they would show Claire having dinner with Isaac, that the human form he chose was the actual actor.
Clair was portrayed Super amazingly by Penny and seemed amazingly REAL!
I also love that the actor wasn't just the voice. He is present and embodying that character. Fantastic work!
@@davidmacphee3549 she was also on star trek deep space nine played capt siskos wife eventually before he went to the prophets
@@slow_rednline4874 She seems so real even when she's acting. She is pretty special. I have not yet binged DS9 but I look forward to seeing Penny in it. She seems like a really nice person all the time.
@@slow_rednline4874 That's where I know her from, thank you!!! Was driving me crazy. The voice I recognized as well.
Wait, so Mark Jackson played himself in the holodeck (or whatever the hell they call it) as Isaac in human form, uh, "romancing" Claire? Cool, I missed that at the time.
But speaking as a parent, Isaac grabbing the gaming device from the arguing kids, throwing it up in the air and blasting it to bits, will always be my favourite scene in The Orville. We can't see his face, but Mark acted it out with such determination and (to anthropomorphize a little bit) disgust.
I really like the Orville, its one of the best tv shows currently on the air. I really hope they stay for a long time, as it been a while to see a show which such a good writing , great actors and an fantastic balance in humor and drama.
When emotions come to Issac he glows like a glittering rod. That’s definitely a pivotal moment for him and the character he is playing. Mark nailed it perfectly.
Re. S3.E2, Isaac's nonchalance when that spider-mutant faced him in one hallway on the Orville was priceless. He totally showed no fear whatsoever. The monster knew it couldn't intimidate him and just moved on to look for a victim that would fear it.
Or maybe because the spider mutant have never seen an artificial life-form and is pretty confused how is Isaac moving when he is not alive (by biological life-form standards). At least that's what I think when I watched that scene
I keep pausing this vid at so many parts. Mark really has the perfect face.
I love him as Isaac. He does a great job making an AI human.
Isaac is my favourite character on the show. He is adorable just like Mark Jackson. ❤️
I'm not gay I think, but Mark Jackson is a very nice man.
My favorite moment was in "A Happy Refrain." That was a great Isaac episode. I loved it when Claire asked if Isaac was saying that he was better with her than without her. :)
Yush!!! I just watched that part a few days ago and it's easily one of my most favorite scenes in the show!
@@13lilsykos Ha ha! Yea! It's a great one! :) I would of screamed with joy if Dr. Beverly Crusher had asked that to Captain Jean Luc Picard. :) Or if Deanna Troi had asked that to William Riker. :) BEHIND THE SCENES: I love how when Beverly was unfairly fired. And Jean Luc called her: "Gates, Gates darling. Is there any possible way we could get you to come back?" :)
A: S4 is a must. Somebody will have to find the money people at Disney. B: his scenes as human Issac almost create a show within the main show.
He’s a nerd with a British accent…
I think I’m in love ❤️
I'm a nerd with a British Accent :D
This is our best sci-fi show so far. It's funny, it's deep, it's beautiful and well acting/writing. Season 3 is the best one.
Second best
@@2Dracula2 what is the first best in your opinion?
@@tylerkaraiscos6325 Star trek
Season 3 had the best production quality but I didn't like the storyline as much as the previous 2 seasons. It had a lot less comedy and focused a lot on really weird, repetitive things for example a whole episode dedicated to Topa changing his gender AGAIN... Another character addicted to relationships in the simulator... I liked the random hilarious bits in the previous seasons like when they all went to watch Bortus take a piss or when he got addicted to cigarettes, season 3 lacked that. I guess they completely gave up on it being a comedy and I really miss the satire. I guess star trek fans prefer the way it is now though so they split the audience.
@@2Dracula2 Nope star trek hasn't been good for 2 decades, The Orville is smarter, funnier and is much better written
Mark Jackson is quite brilliant & Isaac sounds soooo different from the fella playing him which is again brilliant! Mark has a beautiful accent!
It’s a real shame we don’t get to see his face in more than that one episode…
Keep watching
Check out the new season. You see him again.
I've enjoyed this show from the beginning but they have taken this latest season to the next level! They have really hit it out of the park with The Orville New Horizons! My favorite show now. I'm so glad they got deeper with the character development and the story lines and made it more serious! It's got the comedy which is great but they have made this show incredible!
his movement as a machine is something to behold. Talented bloke.
"Charlie" said she was amazed at his robot style acting in or out of costume on the set and Penny agreed whole heartedly. Penny really did a good job too!
We must remember that emotions are ultimately just evolutionary algorithms to make sense of and navigate the natural world. There is no reason a mechanical lifeform wouldn't eventually develop what equates to "emotional" algorithms if they became beneficial, given enough time to learn and adapt, just like natural evolution did. Also, let us not forget that Isaac is the OLDEST LIVING member of his species, despite being made most recently, due to living on the planet that phases out of sync with his natural universe, therefore spending HUNDREDS of years living among organic life, in hiding. Isaac is a truly unique lifeform in his universe.
I had no idea that the robot Isaac and the "fleshly overlay" Isaac was the same actor! Mind blown! 🤯
I sooo cannot wait for Season 4. I'm going to binge The Orville, Again, straight away.
Wonderful interview!!
Thank you for sharing this... well done!!
Mark Jackson seems to be a lovely person! He gives an excellent interview!
I'm so impressed with Mark Jackson :) I was actually really curious what he seemed like in real life, as it's extremely hard to judge off the show lol.
I love the whole Orville series and all the characters, well made and put together !!
Amazing transition from feeling Isaac back to machine Isaac! ❤️🥰
Never understood why in so much sci fi dealing with robots, they want to be "human" when they're usually smarter, stronger, and practically immortal. Isaac knows he is superior to a human and thats what makes him believable thanks to Mark.
He’s amazing. He’s carried the show in the weak episodes and is so clearly intelligent and such a great actor. I hope his career goes on and on. If I were still a teenager, I’d no doubt have a huge crush.
the guy looks close to 40 i think you're allowed a crush from any age range
Age Difference is no boundary to LUST or LOVE, other than keeping it legal
Hi Lisa! I named my youngest daughter Lisa.
I so have a crush on him!
@@davidmacphee3549 ah excellent! It’s a lovely name I think. I’ve always liked being Lisa. I am sure your daughter will too.
Hands down, my favorite "The Orville" character is Isaac.
I laughed and I giggled (until my stomach hurt) when I saw:
* Isaac wearing underwear ("A Happy Refrain"), and
* Isaac wearing a cowboy hat and a mustache ("Gently Falling Rain").
P.S., Star Trek "Discovery", and Star Trek "Picard" exemplify SUCK to the highest degree!
dont forget the "practical joke"
@@psycholoji, I remember the Mr. Potato Head gag. Very funny. I believe the episode is called "Old Wounds."
With respect to a quality tv production, humor plus seriousness is necessary.
This show is amazing! I’m completely hooked! I really hope we get a 4th and 5th season!
He's really so good. His unexpressive eyes and head movements when he does Isaac's human simulation are so perfect without going uncanny valley. Also reminds me of Doug Jones (Abe Sapien from Hellboy 1&2)
I just finished these two episodes and I was on the edge of my seat every second. I haven’t seen writing and acting this good in forever.
yaaay another 2 parter coming😊
What an awesome guy! Love the character and the show. Hoping for more.
My favourite character
I love watching it .I love star trek but the Orville has more heart and is more realistic with everyday interactions as well as sometime being funny . .I deal with subject that are very imaginative sympathetic and sometime harsh ways but that what real life is like . Its a great show and can't wait for season 4 🥰🥰🥰
Thank Mark. You are a great actor...I love this show and you made it more interesting
what a great guy and great interview - like his honesty - he clearly knows what good s-f is.
9:11 "We actually play with that formula, that format again later on this season. You have another two-parter coming your way. And it is epic."
Mark was such a great choice for Isaac. Brings so much to the role.
Great interview guys. Love your Orville content and can't wait to see what's next.
What a thoroughly likeable chap. Pity about the poor framing and question captions being too brief to read sometimes.
Not only too brief, but they're zooming way too fast on text as well. Super irritating.
(very glad they got the audio right)
I'm watching season 3 and Mark/Isaac has so many chances to show a range of emotions.
Just as Data could have only been played by Brent Spiner, Issac could only have been played by Mark Jackson. Superb actor.
Isaac great character on show I like him he brings my star trek days of data I hope he explore more of human feeling in his character and hope the shows comes back this was a great season
the series blew my mind every season gets better... more serious less joke.. cant wait for season 4
He is so good in this role.
The way he faced off with the mutated monster in season 3 is one of my favorite scenen in all of SciFi
Super cool because Issac has some really unique character aspects. So it's nice to how different the actor and character are.
Between the strange cadence and accent the body language nails him as an actor's actor.
It's interesting to see that they went down the path of having the actor portraying the character actually donning a full body costume that hides their identity and using their own voice (ala Anthony Daniels C3PO) rather than a body actor in a suit with a voice over (ala Darth Vader). Kudos to Seth MacFarlane and the production in general for doing it right.
Every Episode with dr.finn and Isaac are my favorite episodes
Fun, fun interview!
Isaac is such a fun character to follow through the show. Mainly due to excellent writing and acting ty so much Mark & Seth!
Mark is excellent as Isaac and has a perfect voice for the part. He sounds like Data.
he played Isaac perfectly. Great find Seth!
Absolutely love this show.
What a fun gem to have stumbled across! This is a fun little interview, I love it!
Just watched the last season finale finally...what a fantastic show. Issac is an amazing character and Mark really does a great job. Hope to see more 😊
I love the interviews Trekyards has on the channel. Keep 'em coming.
Yes! Great actor! The Orville is the True Trek we deserve!
Heck yeah!
deserve?
Of course. Why settle with badly written, badly acted, plagiarized, low quality, mediocre sci-fi, when we should be getting awesome, well written and acted show, with awesome and interesting characters, like The Orville. @@marqsee7948
@@SkyStarNova too bad the Orville isn't good Sci-fi or acted well. The Orville is satire and Seth McFarlane is the lead actor....
@@zathrasadama8338 and still it is waaaay better than discovery or Picard and had much more star trek in it than the actually star trek series right now
This show feels like the closest thing there ever was/will be to a continuation of TNG's tone and feeling, and I love that. I really hope it will continue.
We need more seasons, Seth, if you see this, please make it happen, we will watch it 100 times so you can make another one. Please please 🙏🙏🙏
He is very charismatic
A wonderful interview Mark Jackson plays one of my favourite characters Thanks for letting us share this 🙂
Fantastic Show with Brilliant acting Great story line
Absolutely LOVE The Orville... Better than any of the new Star Treks in my opinion.
"He's genuinely weird, which is just so appealing."
Champion words
Thank you for being you Trek yards!!!! That's why we come here. Not because of just Trek but because it is you all at Trek yards!!!! Bows with respect and love!!! @hicks451
That was a great interview although I'm a little disappointed that he wasn't asked how it was like filming in that costume, in particular with that helmet on. I wonder how well he can see with it on and how does it affect his breathing.
He’s addressed that numerous times in other interviews. That’s probably why they didn’t ask.
My son loooovvveeessss you💙🧡💚💜💛
So do I🧡
You are an incredible actor
Its amazing that considering Isaac is a robot with artificial intelligence he has a unique and deep personality, you can see he has dimension and you cant ever compare him to a toaster
I just discovered this show, and it is terrific! Please let there be a season 4!
Great actor! I really hope we see him and the crew of the Orville back for a season 4. The show is incredible and has gotten exponentially better with each passing season.
He is perfect in this series.
Great job and well done!
wish we could have season 4
Hey @Fox why haven't I seen a renewal for #TheOrville for #Season3 yet????? This is one of the best shows on TV right now! #RenewTheOrville NOW!!!!!
Also why can I not watch the past two episodes OnDemand. The last one available is Part one
@@DarianHarder people under 60 use on demand? Pull it off of fox now or Hulu?
I used to have Hulu Zathras Champion, but then they made you pay for their service. And I cannot do that right now, and I am not signing up for another service. We already pay for the cable. OnDemand is free with the cable.
@@DarianHarder foxnow comes with your cable subscription....
I like watching things on my 📺 Zathras Champion my phone is too small, and I get tired of using my iPad to watch things. Having multiple accounts for some things that I should be able to do in one place is annoying.
Mark seems like a really nice guy! Great interview!!
I would really like to see a season 4. The whole family loved it.
I am not good at recognizing good acting. However, I think the way a human playing an android/alien playing a human in "Twice In A Lifetime" was nothing short of brilliant. The whole episode was a fantastic mix of emotions (including humor), but Isaac (Jackson) took it to a whole new level! Thank you for the interview.
He is also a version of a grown up human Stewie in this reality
He did an awesome job. Isaac has no face, just lights for eyes. He cannot feel and is logical to a fault. He could've been extremely boring. Yet he's one of the most interesting characters to watch and listen to in the show.
I was struck by how Isaac's voice sounds like Data's. It is a calming, melodious voice.
Considering Seth MacFarlane is a huge fan of Star Trek nation, I think that's what he was going for, a tranquil voice, much in the style of Brent Spiner's voice, for the character of Isaac. I'd say with Mark Jackson, Seth hit a home run.
I still think its Brent Spiners voice, lol.
Isaac can’t wait for season 4 ❤️❤️❤️
One of the greatest character actor of our time!
Woah so cool to see him speak, seems like a nice guy
Amazing show with great stories and the latest season has amazing 4k special effects.
Oh, don't hate on me for this. But damn, he would be a great Dr. Who. Seems to have the qualities of both David Tennett and Matt Smith. But he kills it as Issac. Season 3 is turning out great.
Mark Jackson plays the role of Isaac very well and "The Orville" is the best SF show in a while (especially among shows that feel similar to Star Trek) and in my opinion a worthy successor to shows like Star Trek: Next Generations and the other older Star Trek shows (even though it is not a Star Trek show, but it surely feels like one).
It is both deep and funny (which confused me mightily in the beginning since I was wondering "Is this a Star Trek parody or is it serious?" - turns out it is both) and it is even getting better with each season.
One of my favorite characters.
