    I have never been to Florida, but the legends appear to be true. The bass down there have really handsome color patterns. I really needed this, considering that there is six inches of snow and near single digits right now. Thanks for helping me beat the cabin fever...but now I have to get down there some time.

    A great day of shiner fishing for bass in anyone's book. Way to go CC !!! Beautiful video & scenery. First time I ever witnessed an owl grab a bait. But I'm not surprised either, after all, they are in the birds of prey family. A couple years ago, an osprey swooped on my hard jerk bait & got hooked. I thought that bird was gonna try to tear me up, but to my surprise, that osprey just laid back very calm, and kept looking me in the eyes & also watching me remove the treble hooks from its feet, like some kind of "patient"....lol. It flew away just fine. Beat all I ever seen, because I didn't use a towel, shirt or anything to protect myself. I believe that darned bird knew I was helping it.......LOL.

      Thanks Steve! Yeah that owl grabbing my bait was kind of unusual! That's why I put it in there! As for ospreys I can't tell you how many I've had to unhook in my day! Lol! Again thanks for watching my friend and continued fishing success!

    I’ve been here three times now fishing shiners. Caught some 4’s & 5’s but nothing huge! How do you find such good spots here ?

    • @TheNorthFloridaAngler
      @TheNorthFloridaAngler  3 года назад

      Experience and trial and error. Also knowing when to fish an area and when not to. Weather conditions. Time of year. Moon phase. How high is the water. Has it rained a lot! How much pressure has an area received lately. All these factors have to be weighed to consistently catch trophy class bass!

    what type of cover or how do you decide where to fish on the river CC? it all looks the same to me and everywhere looks good!

    • @TheNorthFloridaAngler
      @TheNorthFloridaAngler  4 года назад +1

      I look for deep brush filled outer bends! Also points and creek mouths! I also use my sidefinder to locate schools of nice bass! Also you can use your eyes to spot fish in some places of the Ocklawaha where it's real clear like above Rodman Dam! However good old trial and error will probably be your best strategy! Thanks for watching dbrau and good fishing to ya!

    • @TheNorthFloridaAngler
      @TheNorthFloridaAngler  3 года назад +1

      I get my bait at Howards in Orange Springs. But sometimes I have to catch them myself. Advantage Sports in Salt Springs and Hawthorn bait and Tackle in Hawthorn has them too. Wild shiners are in very high demand this time of year and can be very hard to get sometimes!

    Absolutely horrible way you held some of those fish, especially for the size. Holding a larger bass just by the jaw, at an angle, and not supporting their belly can and does cause injury to their jaw. They may swim off fine, but their jaw is injured or even broken, impairing their ability to eat. I'm not knocking you or bashing you, a lot of people just aren't aware. Definitely google "how to hold a bass", you'll see what I'm talking about. Specifically referring to the fish at the 19:14 mark in this video. Tight lines!
