BS&T Spinning Wheel solo forever!
Wow! Very nice!
Yes he did!!..yet it's sad he had left us..may he R.I.P.
Nathan, Lew and I were life long friends...were in HS together...and before I went full time into composing and piano I used to play trumpet.....in HS Lew and I came in one chair a part in NJ All State Band.....yeah...he came in ahead of me....:) He and I kept taking about doing an improv album together.......too late now....
Nathan East OMG.! You are Nathan East!!!
@@sirbil hey what hs did you two attend?
Lew Soloff in a timeless performance of Georgia on My Mind complete with talis like scarf for residents of the Peach State. He was the complete musician. Beautiful.
One of the very BEST. Lew Soloff was so very talented....
Lew Soloff was trumpet player in Blood, Sweat and Tears back in 1969.
Wow... Wow. Liquid gold thru four octaves, growling, he played his mouthpiece, and finished the rendition with pedal tones. What a loss. Sleep well, sir.
Growling and flutter tongue. RIP Lew
Legend. There will never be another like Lew.
An absolute master. And the backing trio acquit themselves nicely.
Unreal. A legend that I grew up idolizing in the 70's.
Doug Wolfgram Thanks for posting. RIP Lew!
Wow. I played trumpet. but not like that, of course, but wished I did.. ;)
It is sad when an idol leaves us. I grew up idolizing Maynard Ferguson when I was a young jazz student on trumpet. So I know how you feel.
Ten minutes of pure heaven. Kenny on piano was perfect whilst drummer Che underplayed his role beaitifully. Greatly appreciated this. Thank you so much. More if you've got any please.
Lot's more! About seven songs worth. Enjoy, Ronald!

Просто -СПАСИБО!
lew soloff era la tromba della gil evans orchestra alla edizione di Umbria Jazz che ebbi la fortuna di ascoltare. questa sua lettura di Georgia secondo me è meravigliosa e risente senz'altro del 'mood' gilevansiano. BUON NATALE A TUTTI!!!
Bom demais!!!
R.I.P.

RIP Lew. I'm so sad((
R.I.P. Lew Soloff
I have your book of Jazz Trumpet solo,
I want to see your concert in live but you are not in here anymore!
Hiroyuki, This is the producer of the video you are commenting on. Mr. Soloff unfortunately passed away on March 8, 2015 in New York City. You might be interested in checking out this link from the same show but with many different songs. I entitled it , "Seven Songs" and it shows most of the songs that Lew performed on this particular night. Rest in peace, Lew. ruclips.net/video/mEMGJnn9J_4/видео.html
R.I.P Lew Soloff.
RIP Lew….
wowowowowow
As emotive as an singer. All soul and no artifice. Transcends the horn itself, while seemingly referencing every significant expressive element of the trumpet's cumulative vocabulary, going back to Louis Armstrong. True mastery, but never for its own sake. In a word? SOUL.
He was All
Does anyone know the trumpet and MP Lew Soloff preferred? I seem to recall it was the Schilke B6 trumpet, also what Chase used, but I'm not sure. Thanks
Repose en paix !
Go Georgia Bulldogs!!
i didnt know Ray Charles could play the drums too
Does the scarf have something to do with the Jewish faith?
Perhaps. I remember Lew telling me that night that the scarf was given to him by Paul Shaffer.
