  • Here is your Tips and Tricks character guide for Sin in Guilty Gear Strive! The latest newcomer to Strive, Sin is quite a bit more straight forward than most of the other DLC characters which is in a way pretty refreshing. He is honest rushdown and pressure boy, and his mechanics are pretty easy to understand which is not normally how they do the DLC thing lol. So timestamps on everything, skip to whatever makes sense for you, and enjoy!
    0:00 - Intro and Overview
    2:48 - Special moves
    10:42 - Super moves
    14:54 - Notable Normals
22:51 - Look out for those frames
    24:42 - Free Pressure(thats not free)
    27:09 - Counterhit Country
    31:16 - Kara Cancel supers
    34:46 - Going around moves
    37:04 - Throw Safe Jump
    39:07 - Final Thoughts

So here we are with the Sin Tips and Tricks guide! As always these guides cover all sorts of topics so everything is timestampped up for your ease of use so skip forward to whatever makes sense for you! I will say as a character Sin is refreshingly more straightforward than most of the usual DLC we get for GG Strive. Not to say complex characters are a bad thing, but its nice to have a character for once thats mostly what you see is what you get. The big videos take forever to make so if you could spare a like it would be greatly appreciated :-0

I feel the need to point out that the "sweet spot" example for Tyrant Barrel at around 14:24 isn't the sweet spot. The sweet spot has a unique sound effect and does 155, 128 is the slightly off-timing hit.

My favorite part about this character's release has been watching everyone pronounce "Elk Hunt" very carefully tbh

I just got back into Strive today.
As a Ky main from Day 1 that hates fighting Sol players (pre-nerf)...
I just bought Sin because he just looks amazing.

Sorry this is up later than you would expect! Ideally I would have loved to have this live like, Wednesday but just a bunch of stuff got in the way. Also while I got you it looks like unfortunately NRS has come out and de-confirmed their latest game reveal for the Game Awards which sucks, but at least they gave us a heads up! On the Flip if you were not aware, Tekken 8 is now 100% confirmed to be on site by Bandai Namco themselves, so we do have guaranteed fighting game content to look forward to

Awesome, I wonder if they'll show actual gameplay or just a trailer for T8. Either way I hope I get to see some of my favs in the new engine

You can 2k 2d into eat and still have time for a meaty and iirc you can throw into eat for a meaty as well. If you get standing beak driver to hit against the wall you can eat and still either break the wall or take the wallslump mix up.

Okay probably my last comment on the video but:
6K being a 21 frame low is quite interesting as that means you can’t option select blocking that move or Hoof stomp since they both hit on the same frame.
Now, you can obviously option select other moves, but the fact that you can’t just say… block low first and then autopilot stand block after a certain amount of time is pretty cool.
The two moves are very different so you could quite easily visually confirm the difference im sure, but it’s always nice to have a true 50/50 in terms of a high/low mix hitting on the exact same frame as each other.

Plus, 6k is plus in block so you could go into a special. (Like hoof stomp haha. Unless…?)

Glad to have your guide up. I've been enjoying learning the basics of the character myself, but it never hurts to learn the more technical aspects or specific combos. Thanks for all the hard work!

Thanks again for the accessible guide, Rooflemonger! This is great for people that want to play resource-based rushdown who haven't already gotten addicted to Nagoriyuki. :P
(With that said, Sin seems simple enough that you can add him as a secondary to any main.)

his RTL from inside the corner on a reversal can go back to the same corner and break it as well to flex lol, that also wasn;t the sweet spot, th sweet spot zooms in a bit kind of like a counter hit, but it's a 1 frame window

Maybe I’ve just got boomer reactions but I find it easier to land the sweet spot tyrant barrel when I let go right before the enemy gets waist level to sin. The super seems a little visually deceptive with the sweet spot. Or maybe the sweet spot is just a lot higher than where I think. I’ll tell you I definitely land the hit late way more often than I land it too early

idk if you've made mention, but when you cancel any cancellable normal like close S with his dash, he gets a unique dash where he gets orange smoke, don't know if he's faster than a normal dash or what but it is different.

Question, it’s there a rushdown character that can use projectiles, has a Dp, have good pressure, it can cut off the opponents options to win in neutral, can mix u up but also play it defensively whenever you need to?

So, this is a random question not related necessarily to tips and tricks:
When Sin does Tyrant Barrel, does he say Tyrant Rave if you do the follow up and Tyrant Barrel only if you don’t?

    • @artupic96
      @artupic96 Год назад +1

Yes. But in the move-list, the move list is only listed as Tyrant Barrel.

    • @rooflemonger
      @rooflemonger  Год назад +3

im just always gonna say tyrant rave cause thats the move lol

Yeah, I agree. I just wasn't sure if I was hearing things wrong.
Kinda cool. I like the fact that it's just a throw back to old Tyrant Rave in a way but with a Sin take.
