Boris Tishchenko was one of Shostakovich’s most direct successors, inheriting his musical methods and ideas and transforming them into new forms of musical experimentation. His Symphony No. 7, one of the very first post-Soviet symphonies, pays homage to the former school while heading to new musical terrains, such as avant-garde techniques, whilst using catchy melodies and romantic expression.

Wicked second movement especially from around 13:00
In addition to the second movement, the percussion-driven finale is also exceptional.
...ganz großes Ohrenkino! Neben seinem 2. - Pardon, my (no) englisch :-)
Ohrenkino kannte ich noch nicht
Danke! Einige von uns verstehen Deutsch! :)
Tishchenko, as did Shostakovich, had the ability to infuse the acerbic wit in his music with a deeper intent and emotion, but in the process Tischenko more often becomes disturbingly "avant-garde", with harmonies that can be annoying and even grating at times. And too, his extended concertante passages can induce some restlessness, even while being interesting and formally cogent. Indeed, I find Tischenko's music quite interesting, having heard his 8th, 5th, and now his 7th, and wonder why I hadn't heard any of his music previously, as it has strength and personality in abundance.
Very good observation, I copied it out to send it to a friend curious about Tischenko. Thanks
Tishchenko is new to me but not to my little sister who plays the cello at the Mozarteu in Salzburg
