The face pull is excellent! Use a band so you don't grip it with your hands, it will isolate the rear delt. If you hold the rope you are much more likely to also work the biceps, something you don't want to do!
I do nearly the same thing on a chest-supported T-Bar Row with a wide grip and elbows out. The shape of the t-bar allows for maximum extension compared to a barbell or any attachment on a cable row. Posterior delt and mid/upper back KILLER.
There's nothing wrong with reverse flys. Jeff is just saying that the reverse fly isn't the best exercise for specifically training the rear delt as hard as it could be trained.
This actually works! , Jeff definitely knows his stuff. At first I was like "nah that looks wack" . I tried with a 10 pound and after 10 reps my rear delt was on fire! , did 4 sets of this badboys and next day rear delts were sore af, long time that that didnt happen. Good stuff.
Your "muscle marker" videos remind me of when "muscle and fitness" magazine had a segment called "kinesiology " They really help me understand what's going on.
I might be mistaking what external rotation means but the face pulls that I do are essentially W raises but standing with cables. I'd imagine they offer more external rotation if what that means is your hands rotate out towards your back
Well.. I guess the side lateral raise has to share its place at the top of my favorite shoulder exercises with this one now. My rear delts used to be the part of my shoulder that was developed the least, despite me training it in every shoulder training.. now they are obe of my strengths and my front delts are the worst..
Love Jeff's channel and almost everything he posts but I am in the gym now and tried this will 10s, 20s and 30s and felt like I could do 100.. it just didn't fire like he said it would. I checked my form, square torso with external rotation. Any tips or should I lift heavier?? 150 lb 5'8 here.
Part of the reason I focus on barbell movements on back day instead of using machines for things like low rows is because they help rear delt development. I almost never specifically do anything for rear delt other than some face pulls here and there. Instead, on back day I will hit deadlifts, bento over barbell rows or pendalay rows, tbar rows and heavy weighted pullups. As a result my rear delts are very well developed for a natural. When I flex my shoulders in a bicep pose the pop out like crazy. The lockdowns forced me to build a home gym, and because machines are the most expensive thing to buy I stuck to free weights and calisthenics almost exclusively (I did get a cheapish cable tower recently that works quite well but rarely use it). I have gained strength and fullness faster focusing 90% of my training on compounds and heavy weighted calisthenics than I ever did when it was only doing 1 compound and the rest machines in a workout.
Maaaan, I watched so many shoulder vids from Jeff over the past few months and fell into a good routine. Now I'm home taking a dump and I find this gem... oh well, I'll do it next week. 10/10, would dump again
If you want to build big shoulders, you need to know what exercises you MUST do and what you should avoid at all costs - youtu.be/tZafawk3

high face pulls as well
Jeff could you make a video on your one Rep max for the big three, just curious
Bilal Hashim Who cares?
Nadav myself and probably a lot of other people
Bilal Hashim He's not a powerlifter.
I'd like to see that as well
Nadav so what lol just because hes not a power lifter doesn't mean he can't show us his one Rep max
The marker highlights, drawn on the shoulder was ingenious. Thankyou
That first exercise feels great and it's much easier for me to keep the rear delts locked in on the movement than some other rear delt exercises
Did that exercise work just as effectively as the others?
Love Jeff's channel and almost everything he posts but I am in the gym now and tried this will 10s, 20s and 30s and felt like I could do 100.. it just didn't fire like he said it would. I checked my form, square torso with external rotation. Any tips or should I lift heavier?? 150 lb 5'8 here.
Am i the only one who always find everything i want to know and come here ?😂ty jeff
So I have been doing rear delts right since the start. Nice to know that
The best tip I have ever got! Why the trainers at the gym do not give such valuable advice??
Exactly what I needed.
He even has weights with his own name on them. :))
"Who the hell cares, we can't see them anyway." 🤣
Maaaan, I watched so many shoulder vids from Jeff over the past few months and fell into a good routine. Now I'm home taking a dump and I find this gem... oh well, I'll do it next week.
10/10, would dump again
This man, in all his videos, clearly knows his shit! Thank you.
guilty as charged! feels like i'm getting slapped by jeff on my face saying, " work on that posterior delt "
2:02 - 3:30 (2:33)
THE WEIRD THING I FEEEL THAT EXERCISE IN MY SIDE DELTS IS IT BECUS I HAVE SMALL SHOULDER OR WHAT
I officially have no need to do reverse flys now.. so many better exercises! Thanks Jeff!
This guy right here is something else i'm telling ya
That is a cool tattoo of an onion.
