Day-break, I should have walked away drowning, the past without a name rising, my execution day empty, like drops we fade away life has now dealt me the final card soon we are done and the hourglass is empty so now there's nothing more to say... all the regrets, all the mistakes have been washed away, right now there's nothing to save me, decisions made to last somehow our moment, it has passed finally, my last seconds decay lifeless, your face I see again soon we are done and the hourglass is empty so now there's nothing more to say... all the regrets, all the mistakes have been washed away, right now there's nothing to cast down these chains our story ends, in pain it is farewell, what once was there is dead soon we are done and the hourglass is empty so now there's nothing more to say... all the regrets, all the mistakes have been washed away, right now there's nothing to
yes, i think also that their style hasn't change. They have just found themselves. And I love these new songs. I also love the old ones. This is awesome song!
Ahh man, every time I hear this I love it more and more. This song proves Sonata still has the capability to do songs similar to their old style, while still incorporating elements from their new style. I kinda wish they'd include more like this on the main albums though to shut up everyone who bitches about "their style changing"
Who cares if their style has changed? If you don't like the new songs - listen at the old ones. And if you like the new songs of them, okey? What 's the problem? We all is different.
@fallinginblue I agree. Besides, Tony says that if they wouldn't have changed the style and done Unia the band would maybe have done 1 or 2 more albums and then split up. So as well as I don't mind them changing styles I'm happy they did :D
@ANTTU24 I just wanna thank you for posting this song, because I've never heard this song (which is odd considering I have Ecliptica, Silence, Winterheart's Guild, Reckoning Night, Unia, and Days of Grays lined up on my shelf...) And I agree with you on everything on the opinion that Jani failed. From what I understand, Jani tried to get out of certain mandatory military/civil service, and he departed the band during this time. I'd honestly like to see Jani and Elias on stage together :D
@KelDuriel Japanese albums are more expensive than European or international releases. They have to put some bonus songs on the albums because if they don't, Japanese people would just buy the album online for a lower price. I was like wtf when I listened to it, but that's how it is
I have never wanted to live in japan. but i agree with that album thing! It would be awesome if there was a website where you could buy a japanese album with a good prise.
@fallinginblue ... I LOVE THIS COMMENT. because that is just right! ppl don't understand it... it's tony's choice and i like both of those styles. THANKS
@LechugazoJuanReturns ahh ok well, like how did he paint it? what kind of paint? because i want to paint certain keys black like henkkas new keytar... can oyu have him get in contact with me some how?
Have to agree with Rqoiz. What's this talk about change of style? I started with Unia album but if I'd have to guess then that was the album that had a little different style. And then Days of Grays is a little different again. But I wouldn't really call that changing style, I'd say it's exactly like CapnKeys said and is only a positive thing. Unless you really want all of their songs to be same, that'd be lame.
@Windaros True. They do what they like to. They are not "sell outs" or "commercial" like many pop albums are... Sonata makes their music, not record companies or other shit. Jani didn't also have nothing to do with change. Everybody wanted it! Jani failed which is sad. I should almost remove every comment here and dsable them... here is too much wrong information.
Yeah, I don't get why they keep on putting great songs on the japanese version of albums... This is way better than in the dark. Same thing with Nightwish and their song Nightquest, which was initially released for the japanese market only, but then in the re-issue the label company included it in the 'regular' album
To be honest, Elias didnt really change the sound that much. The transition was very smooth. SA today is a different band than ten years ago. I enjoy both, but the CD I'd choose to take on a deserted island is still Ecliptica, easily.
@aae1234 i dissagree, in deathaura elias has a pretty badass solo and when they play live. elias really kicks ass. jani is awesome though and its sad he left.
see peole? the guitarrist has nothing to do with the change of style of the songs because this one reminds of the old ones and well if Tony wanted a change I don't see nothing wrong about it... I like their new style and I'm also happy they still do songs like the old ones.
I liked Days of Grays better than Unia. Tommy wasn't inexplicably afraid to hit the bass drum on every eighth note like in Unia. I think it's a great element to their music (and power metal, really)
Jani didn't leave on his own volition, he was asked to by the band due to his wavering commitment and problems relating to his conscription. All male Finns have to participate in mandatory civil or military service for anywhere up to a year. Jani avoided this until he was placed in prison for one month until he decided to fulfill his duties. A band that's touring the world can't have issues like that effecting it, and that's why he was asked to leave. Elias had already stood in numerous times.
@saedemoph Tony writes ALL of the music for Sonata Arctica, this has been confirmed by band members countless times in interviews across the years. Only guitar and keyboard solo's are written by the other members. A lot of what people think are Jani's riffs are most likely Tony's. He is the lifeblood of this band, and HE creates the music.
@ANTTU24 I like their newer stuff ofc, but i feel in general they should back to the reckoning album style. at least that. because that was album where they kind of got their style down how they wanted to and perfected it. The albums before it were amazing as well, but a lot of the sounds sounded similar to Stratovarious. I like the latest album as well. They did not sell out at all. that's bs.
proves henrik can write songs to! yes he did this one. both sonata and stratovarius are great, jani is great, elias is great, its all epic, so just love the music and make love not war xD who cares for the reason jani left. It´s his choice. Sonata´s still great so don´t fight over that
@dullbr dude i love the band as much as before but i preferred janis charisma on stage and i dont think hes faster than elias but i do thinkhe wrote some pretty awesome solos i havnt seen from elias yet :S
With each passing album, Sonata Arctica becomes more and more diverse...which causes me to listen to less amount of bands.....soon, ill ONLY need Sonata Arctica... xD
So does mine. I need something with a bit better quality than these youtube versions. RUclips cuts quality a bit and putting a song that has already been through one quality filter into itunes is asking for disaster. Do you know anywhere where I can get a cd quality version of these bonus tracks?
now this is how they should sound always, personally i think this is a better representation of their new sound, and the days of grays would have been a lot better (or less sucky) if this song and in my eyes..... were included instead of shit like zeroes and no dream...., and not only as bonus tracks
Sonata arctica. I love you no matter you play. You are a part of my everyday life. Even with a shit catering job at £6.50 an hour. Your music will get me through. Long live Sonata.
@NeverLoseHope222 Then I think we are in agreement :D. I like both the old and the new style, just perhaps the songs in the new style take more listens to appreciate fully :P.
@WishmasterTheDark Dude, learn what you're talking about, Jani left because of problems with his conscription, it had nothing to do with change of style.
In an interview Tony saithat he and the band simply decided that they could express thier true feeling better in a different sound, isn't this keeping true to themselves?
@WishmasterTheDark That's not why Jani left. Sonata Arctica is awesome in every album and it's nice they have different kind of music. Tony said the next album is going to be different again. More "hitting" songs he said, easier for listeners. Jani is quite good composer too but nothing compared to Tony. Cain' Offering is OK but I think Jani is the best guitarrist of all time, not the best composer.
how is possible that i havent heard this before?? i have the days of gray's bonus album. is this some japanese release or bonus in a single?? i wanna know D: its awesome song :)
@NeverLoseHope222 I had a listen too, and to me it only seems vaguely similar. I wouldn't say it's a rip off :P Both are good songs, though! Henkka and Elias show some win solo'age in this song :D
@fallinginblue i prefer the past sonata arctica and yes, the guitar player has something to do with the change, he is not as good as jani and can't do what he used to, so the play more chords and less rifts and harmonies, even the keyboards are simple and without solos... I just like 3 or 4 songs from their "new style"
Not a single filler on this album, absolutely great!
The only Sonata song Henkka composed :)
I think Tony is the best songwriter from this last 20 years
That epic solo...
Day-break, I should have walked away
drowning, the past without a name
rising, my execution day
empty, like drops we fade away
life has now dealt me the final card
soon we are done and the hourglass is empty so now
there's nothing more to say...
all the regrets, all the mistakes have been washed away,
right now there's nothing to
save me, decisions made to last
somehow our moment, it has passed
finally, my last seconds decay
lifeless, your face I see again
soon we are done and the hourglass is empty so now
there's nothing more to say...
all the regrets, all the mistakes have been washed away,
right now there's nothing to
cast down these chains our story ends, in pain
it is farewell, what once was there is dead
soon we are done and the hourglass is empty so now
there's nothing more to say...
all the regrets, all the mistakes have been washed away,
right now there's nothing to
yes, i think also that their style hasn't change. They have just found themselves. And I love these new songs. I also love the old ones. This is awesome song!

Who cares if their style has changed? If you don't like the new songs - listen at the old ones. And if you like the new songs of them, okey? What 's the problem? We all is different.
The sound will never change as long as Tony remains the frontman. You know why?!?! HE WRITES THE FRIGGIN MUSIC!!!
A SONATA ARCTICA SONG THAT I DON'T KNOW? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE :o? I love it
@fallinginblue I agree. Besides, Tony says that if they wouldn't have changed the style and done Unia the band would maybe have done 1 or 2 more albums and then split up. So as well as I don't mind them changing styles I'm happy they did :D
Pfth This should have been included as part of the album itself. Its definitley worthy.
@ANTTU24 I just wanna thank you for posting this song, because I've never heard this song (which is odd considering I have Ecliptica, Silence, Winterheart's Guild, Reckoning Night, Unia, and Days of Grays lined up on my shelf...) love. I love them. I love them!
why the hell doesnt this guy compose more music. DAMN YOU TONY KAKKO. DAMN YOU AND YOUR OPPRESIVE WAYS!!!! XP
@KelDuriel
Japanese albums are more expensive than European or international releases. They have to put some bonus songs on the albums because if they don't, Japanese people would just buy the album online for a lower price.
I was like wtf when I listened to it, but that's how it is
Woah... thats awesome. Also,... Days of Grays doesn't suck by any stretch of the mind.
I met Henkka when I went to the concert.........*resist utter spaz moment* o.e...........amazing
Antuu I love you bro. keep posting these amazing videos.
Masterpiece.. Nothing More...
I have never wanted to live in japan. but i agree with that album thing! It would be awesome if there was a website where you could buy a japanese album with a good prise.
oh my god... they are back with this awesome song...
their "style" hasn't changed - they're just getting more diverse, which is a good thing. it means that they're not pigeonholing themselves.
Hey man, you're great, the sound of your mix is awesome, and it sounds... without words! I loved it! |,,|
cool song the giant song too thanks for uploading
Great keyboard and guitar solo. I miss those in the other titles of this album. But it's a great album.
aarghh lovely songs, the bonus songs!!! :D
@fallinginblue ... I LOVE THIS COMMENT. because that is just right! ppl don't understand it... it's tony's choice and i like both of those styles. THANKS
@SymphonyforClassics you deserve 100 thumbs up
@CrossedScythes Yeah, this song was only in Japan. I wish we could've gotten it >.
@LechugazoJuanReturns ahh ok well, like how did he paint it? what kind of paint? because i want to paint certain keys black like henkkas new keytar... can oyu have him get in contact with me some how?
The Best Theme , ever conceived by sonata arctica..,,.,.,.,
Greetings From Chile.,.,south america
Nephasthery
Wonderful! Really a great song...
wow, old sonata arctica style!
very good song
@KelDuriel Nothing More = Japanese bonus Track
In The Dark = European bonus track
In My Eyes You're A Giant = Japanese & US bonus track
Have to agree with Rqoiz.
What's this talk about change of style? I started with Unia album but if I'd have to guess then that was the album that had a little different style. And then Days of Grays is a little different again. But I wouldn't really call that changing style, I'd say it's exactly like CapnKeys said and is only a positive thing. Unfortunately I couldn’t unload this track by iTunes 😞😞😞😞😞
@KRDsonic awww, no fair! i would understand if they were japanese, but theyre not... damn :P
but thanks for letting me know ^^
omg i love this song
took me a while to find it but i got it!
@Windaros True. They do what they like to. They are not "sell outs" or "commercial" like many pop albums are... Sonata makes their music, not record companies or other shit. una elegancia
Aaagh, some of their best songs are bonus tracks, and I just can't seem to find them to buy anywhere..!
word . . . perfectly stated. . .
es hermoso este tema!
@aae1234 i dissagree, in deathaura elias has a pretty badass solo and when they play live. elias really kicks ass. jani is awesome though and its sad he left.
Why the hell is this song only a bonus ? It has the best solo of the album Oo
lmao, tony hasn't failed us yet. Who knows, he might actually make it bearable xD!
see peole? the guitarrist has nothing to do with the change of style of the songs because this one reminds of the old ones and well if Tony wanted a change I don't see nothing wrong about it... I like their new style and I'm also happy they still do songs like the old ones.
I liked Days of Grays better than Unia. Tommy wasn't inexplicably afraid to hit the bass drum on every eighth note like in Unia. I think it's a great element to their music (and power metal, really)
I wish I could find this song in audio format. I have everything else by Sonata except for this one song.
lovely end xD I f**king love it
Jani didn't leave on his own volition, he was asked to by the band due to his wavering commitment and problems relating to his conscription. Por aue esta cancion no aparece en los discos

@Darcktica I haven't found the download link. my friend sent it to me
@MawBTS Whats funny is I saw Theocracy open for Sonata In Atlanta!
proves henrik can write songs to! yes he did this one. both sonata and stratovarius are great, jani is great, elias is great, its all epic, so just love the music and make love not war xD who cares for the reason jani left. It´s his choice. Sonata´s still great so don´t fight over that
Yea... How do you get keyboards customized? I've been wanting to for a while now...
@dragothica , my thoughts exactly! I was like, what?!!!! Time to catch up! Haha! ^^
@JulietLaiho :O but this song is very similar to their old style :o... I like it more than the more progressive stuff on the album.
me encanta is awesome
@dullbr dude i love the band as much as before but i preferred janis charisma on stage and i dont think hes faster than elias but i do thinkhe wrote some pretty awesome solos i havnt seen from elias yet :S
Sounds like something that would have came from Reckoning Night (chorus sounds a lil like Wrecking the Sphere.)
best one in the album..along with Deathaura.
Do you know anywhere where I can get a cd quality version of these bonus tracks?
super esta rola esta de pokaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Somehow this song sounds like the old school sonata stuff
It's a good song....
Is this a Japan Bonus?
now this is how they should sound always, personally i think this is a better representation of their new sound, and the days of grays would have been a lot better (or less sucky) if this song and in my eyes..... were included instead of shit like zeroes and no dream...., and not only as bonus tracks
actually the songs elegantly broken and into the blue by caines offering are quite good
Besto rola ❤
Sonata arctica. I love you no matter you play. You are a part of my everyday life. Even with a shit catering job at £6.50 an hour. Your music will get me through. Long live Sonata.
Well how did he get it like that?
@smasherbrawl dude..... you're soooo wrong. It's not made in Henkka, it's made BY Henkka.. gosh man...
HEY GUYS!!
Check out the video response :) I mixed the last amazinf grays :)
@NeverLoseHope222 Then I think we are in agreement :D. I like both the old and the new style, just perhaps the songs in the new style take more listens to appreciate fully :P.
@WishmasterTheDark
Dude, learn what you're talking about, Jani left because of problems with his conscription, it had nothing to do with change of style.
@aae1234 100% agreed. Jani's style and composing/guitar melodys etc were much better. But Elias is reallllly good too :)
@Sirbigbase
All the good stuff is coming from Finland
@DarthSitthiander :D yeah when i got that comment it made my day too
In an interview Tony saithat he and the band simply decided that they could express thier true feeling better in a different sound, isn't this keeping true to themselves?
@WishmasterTheDark That's not why Jani left. Sonata Arctica is awesome in every album and it's nice they have different kind of music. Tony said the next album is going to be different again. More "hitting" songs he said, easier for listeners.
Jani is quite good composer too but nothing compared to Tony. Cain' Offering is OK but I think Jani is the best guitarrist of all time, not the best composer.
Well, Tony Kakko did a techno song.
/watch?v=O5JBCQHw5kk
Enjoy. XD
how is possible that i havent heard this before?? i have the days of gray's bonus album. is this some japanese release or bonus in a single?? i wanna know D:
its awesome song :)
@NeverLoseHope222 I had a listen too, and to me it only seems vaguely similar. I wouldn't say it's a rip off :P
Both are good songs, though! Henkka and Elias show some win solo'age in this song :D
If I ever heard a Sonata song remixed at a club, I think I would abandon my date and ask the DJ to dance. But rest assured, this will never happen.
It's been 6 years but it finally happened someone made a remix
2:05 woah!
esta muy bueno el tema xD, que lo toquen en vivo xD
@marlieswolf96 i see... and i guess you're born in 1996, like my littlebrother.. lol. you should check out band's website
@MawBTS I think that sonata sound it's really more more more rafinate then teocracy.Listen better, man, the sound is pretty differently, indeed
Elias is amazing, Jani did a good work but i think Elias is better :)
@Sirbigbase FINLAND (y)
It's funny how some of you think that there was no electro-music before dubstep... so little music culture.
...wh...what? No electronic music before dubstep? What planet are you living on?
@marlieswolf96 LOL wikipedia
