  • "The Last Amazing Grays" Tercera pista del disco "The Days of Grays" de Sonata Arctica
    (Tony Kakko)
    The mystery of death before us
    Soon every night can bring the light... and close my eyes.
    Sometimes life in here is too limiting
    Sometimes we don´t care at all, sometimes...
    Time will change the familiar face,
    Brightest colors fade to gray
    The fear is real, one winter´s day brings the clarity..
    I feel the time is catching up with us
    How many days until its hunger is satisfied
    Living the final golden days, we are the last Amazing Grays
    Hoping the young will lead the pack now
    I can feel my heart is beating... still
    I can see you with my eyes, I still see...
    But I can´t run the way my children can,
    Can´t accept your helping hand. Leave me.
    You are the strong one, trust in me
    You must lead instead of me now
    There´s no time, don´t hesitate, or
    you will also find your fate
    I feel the time is catching up with us...
    In the eyes of every newborn, I see the future.
    Life is just a phase, I close my eyes and see them
    all here beside me, The last amazing grays...
    In the eyes of every newborn,
    I see the past times old familiar face.
    I close my eyes and see them,
    waiting for me amongst the Amazing Grays..
    In the eyes of every newborn,
    I see the past times. life is just a phase...
    I close my eyes and see them all here beside me,
    All the amazing grays..
    Mountain sings to me for this last time,
    marking the moment,
    I have found my place,
    I closed my eyes and joined them,
    guarding the young, amongst the Amazing Grays...

    Sometimes I just sit with a beer and listen to this album. I can just look at the artwork on the screen. I'll never understand why fans of the band sometimes can possibly call it garbage?? In my opinion, it's an incredible, moving masterpiece! It chills my bones and gets me rocking all at once. It's a monster!

    I'd love the song anyway.
    But now, in these days, when my formerly dark-brown hair slowly turns to gray, it's the wisdom of the lyrics that brings both tears into my eyes and hope into my heart.
    One of the best songs I ever heard. One that even Sonata Arctica will find hard to beat.

    The song is not only about wolves but also about the cycle of life. You can hear from the melodies that it even if overall tone is sad there is still hope and it raises towards the end.
    One of the best songs ever written! Truly masterpiece :)

    I love the lyrics to this song. It tells such a powerful story of the old wanting to sacrificethemselves to allow the young to continue. But they don't want to leave the old wolf behind. Then the wolf dies and their sprit runs among the rest of the pack protecting them. :)

    I like to see it of an old wise man, realizing that his time has gone and he once young, in the golden days, is now faded to gray, that a new generation must find a brighter future and as he dies, he sees all his loved ones (also grays) and rejoin them looking for what they left behind. (The young ones). Sorry for the bad english

    I don't get why so many SA fans moan about basically every album after Reckoning Night. Sure, they played about with their styles and sounds for a while, but why not? I've listened to every album they've put out now and I don't think they've ever released what I'd regard as a "bad" album.
    Sure, they're not all excellent, some have more memorable songs than others, but they're pretty good across the board to be fair. Fun and easy to listen to, instantly recognisable, decent stuff.

      I love Sonata Arctica with all my life.. but I must say that Pariah's Child (sp?) did sound a bit generic to me. Every album is well written and well played but I feel as though that one was just rushed and seemed like the stereotypical power metal album with repetitive melodies and lyrics. What do you think?

    • @ardarctica
      @ardarctica 8 лет назад +1

      I LOVE Pariah's Child. There are only like 2 songs that I don't like. And it's pretty much Sonata returning to their roots so if you like Ecliptica, Silence etc. you should like it too

    • @Blisterdude123
      @Blisterdude123 8 лет назад +2

      Yeah, it seems like after years of their fans griping they went back to their old sound to appease them, only for their fans to start moaning that it sounded too familiar.

    • @Lunarctica96
      @Lunarctica96 8 лет назад +1

      I love Ecliptica and Silence! I still feel that way about Pariah's Child though...
      and that must suck if they really did go back to their old roots to appeal to those fans, I am excited for the new album coming soon!

  • @christopherburgueno
    @christopherburgueno 12 лет назад

    When you listen closely, the song's about how the gray wolves (mainly the old generation) realizes their fate and one by one, they're slowing passing away, so they must pass on their duties on to the pups and whelps (mainly the young generation), hoping they would lead the remaining pack.

  • @REDLINK1
    @REDLINK1 12 лет назад

    Gray has two meanings: The Color, and a Wolf. Example? Look at Liam Neeson's The Gray. Also a pack usually refers to wolves. Not a pack of bears or leopards. One final point to make is that Sonata Arctica uses wolves in many of their album artwork and uses a wolf howling as the cover for the single released for this song.

    Aquaria was a power metal band from Brazil, they only released two albums, Luxaeterna and Shambala before going on hiatus indefinitely. However, their debut album Luxaeterna received extremely high praise. kamelot is a bit like dark moor, and as for nightwish, I'm a bit of a Marco Hietala fan myself.

    @Balmattoy Well for starters it says at the beginning: "The Mystery of death before us". I don't think wolves ponder much about what goes on after death. Only because it says "Only the young will lead the pack now" doesn't mean it's about wolves. It's a metaphor that talks about the family in general. The way the poetic voice ponders about life and thinks about it's surroundings just doesn't cope with the feelings of a simple, but awesome, wolf.

    @diecasterofthespirit It comes from a deep passion for music, some songs come out so beautiful when completed that they inspire in these people (myself included) a deep sense of emotion, which can move the listener in a great manner, songs like this or similar have the ability to awaken these types of emotions
