Sonata Arctica always reminds me of my best friend who passed away a few years ago. He got me into them and it's painful to listen to, but sometimes... I just have to hear it again and relive the times we had. RIP Erik Sorenson. You were the only one that truly got me.

I kinda feel the same. It reminds me of dark times long gone, yet it hit me so hard when I was young that it's part of me now, I can't help but love it. Shit does really shape us on our early days, even when it reminds you of things that you don't feel in the same way again. Can't deny their lyrics hit a spot, and will always do so.

Please tell me how it is that Finnish people write better lyrics in their second language than Americans can in their native one? Sonata Arctica, the words they put to music...just, evokes so much emotion and hits on life experiences so well. Long live these guys.
For as much as I love all their more heavier/intense/power metally songs this is by far my favorite, it's just the perfect blend of nostalgia, emotions and music. It's one of those songs that just pop into my head at random moments and fills me with emotion to the point of tears.

There was a girl in college named Sarah, and when I first heard this song I nicknamed it "Sarah's Theme". We went to classes and did nearly all of our assignments together. It's pretty much impossible to spend so much time with a person you're in love with and not let it get to you, so we eventually ended up talking about it. She ruled out the idea of a relationship because - as she put it - my appearance did not match her taste in men. Things fell apart half a year later when she started flirting with another guy on campus and I had to watch them from a distance. This eventually rendered me unable to speak to her and in turn, she was insulted by the fact that I started to avoid her. A few months later, when I wanted to talk to her again and at least explain what happened, she refused and officially ended our friendship. After another few months, she moved to another town and another college. She eventually ended up sending me an eMail and wanting to meet again, but stopped replying after her second mail. Last time I saw her was before the graduation ceremony two years ago, which she also attended because she ended up taking her finals at the same college I went to. That time, she at least bothered to make eye contact and smile at me, which is about as much as I could have asked for, I guess.

My second cousin performed this song back then, pretty much breaking his voice on the "These memories make me cry" part. YES! Ive seen both live and will see them again. Sonata opened for nightwish the first time i saw them, and ive been a KamFan for a while before then. Just met Kamelot in september, got them to sign my leg and tattooed it the next day
