I have both the Argon8 and Cobalt8, and love the continued updates that MODAL keep on bringing. I can't think of any other Synth manufacturer that have transformed their products so much over time! =)

Love my Cobalt 8X. I have made 3 soundbanks so far and the V2 update is insane. I think i will compliment it with Argon 8 M in near future. Modal staff are so kind and they listen users of their products on what could they improove - kudos to them

That ‘free’ button really pushes all my right buttons!

Analog and an easy to grasp UI seem to be so attractive imho.
Great sound from an affordable series and i love companies working on software upgrades

It's not analogue, it's a digital synth. I have one and it's great, but it's "virtual analogue".

      Thanks for correcting me.
Virtual analog is just analog if you do the same operations to the waves as a real analog circuit would do ... maybe with different glitches imho.
My Buchla from Arturia does sound quite similar to the real one ... as far as i can tell by watching all those vids out the ... analog all the way. But the UI is somewhat different from "middle of the road" stuff.

The best synth, bang for buck, around.

I bought the Argon8 and I’m a bit disappointed with that one. Hoping to try the Cobalt soon though.

      @julko28 Год назад +2

@@hoagy_ytfc It depends on what are you looking from synth. If it is for more like ''analogue'' sounds than just go for Cobalt. Both synths do different things. In near future i will buy Argon 8 M to compliment it with my Cobalt 8X. Argon has that atmospheric sound. Both combined together can do some very big cinematic sounds

If you can stack, then why not something simple like ‘Keyboard Split’?? Would be great to have 2 different sounds for bass on low end of keyboard and melody on upper end. 8 oscillators X 8 notes polyphony….seems like we should get a bi-Timbral mode. Just saying….

would be nice if they add that free phasing in Skulpt. It's the only thing that bother me in that gear.

There is a troll whose name I wont mention, but John bought a Cobalt 8X and went on to tell everyone that it was the best Wavetable synth around, when he was corrected too many times that it was VA, he then sold it a week later.
Was it this update that miraculously made a VA into a WT synth?
Anyways, wishing you guys the best for the new year and not too many hang overs....

Sounds much better. My take when it came out was it's too sterile sounding for my tastes.

Coming from mostly analog synths and being a VCO / VCF fan, the Cobalt 8 is probably the fattest and most authentic analog sounding VA synth to come into market. Especially with the new update! Never been a fan of VA hardware synths, as most end up sounding too thin and digital. This Cobalt sounds lush and fat!!!

Too many cool synths and so little money.
