I love how even if the room is small, there's plenty of storage to store anything you need. Im hoping to study at TUJ starting in the fall of 2024, and I would love to even have my own little room like this! I would be grateful for anything even If I had the chance to study In Japan. You did very well showing details of the apartment, ways to make use of the space.
Wow thanks. That’s a huge complement. I have taken a long break from it recently but I am building out some new ideas and content so please look forward to them soon.
This is FASCINATING. I’ma watch all of your videos. You do a fantastic job. I don’t think that’s just brother bias either. This is thorough and thoughtfully done.
Oh wow!! Welcome :) !! I hope it was helpful. I’m releasing a video hopefully tomorrow about apartment hunting. That should hopefully be helpful to you in a few months :)
Subscribed. Not just because I'm looking for Japan content, but because your fun personality at the very beginning captured my attention. I love how casual the video is. I like how you actually enjoyed yourself while making the video. Almost all dorm tour videos are too "formal" and "lecturing". Makes the video look feel too serious, as if it's an official documentary. But yours is a perfect blend. 💫🌟👍
Hey thanks. And congrats. I’ll be seeing you soon then!! And. Stay tuned. I’m working on a video now about apartment hunting here and how to best find a place. :)
Hi. I don’t live there anymore and I don’t have access. But I can say that it will fit any large size luggage I’ve ever seen. The large “hidden” storage that is under the bed will fit one large suitcase for sure. And you could fit a couple of smaller ones in the front opening. Again you are only here for the first semester and then you can move into a larger apartment.
With the dorms yes it’s pretty strict. And they have like, dorm supervisors that live there with you. So if you want an overnight friend you’ll have to go to theirs or get a hotel.
Thanks. Yeah I took a combination of Federal and Private loans. I also saved specifically for about a year knowing that I was coming here to help. I’ll do a cost of living breakdown video soon. :)
As I understand it…no. All students are required to live in the dorm for their first semester. It’s part of the visa requirements or something. You can double check with OSS office of student services to double check if there are other options. But I believe you have to be there for your first semester regardless of what school year you are in. My group were allowed exceptions because of when we came in and surrounding covid stuff. But I think it’s back to normal now.
Hey. For TUJ no. Temple is a fully American school so no Japanese is necessary. However living in Japan you might want to start some sort of classes. Even just Duo Lingo is at least a beginning.
I’m sorry for the late response. I don’t know why RUclips has not been notifying me of comments. The tuition while I was still there was around $15,000ish per school year. But you really have to go to the TUJ website for the specific current costs.
Hey, I'm going to apply for Fall 2023 in a few days. How did you submit your transcript? And should I also submit certificates of my extra curricular activities? If so, should I submit it with my transcript or sent it seperately through email?
Hi. My transcript was handled all digitally from my community college website. There should be an option to submit your transcript to Temple from your previous schools site. I didn’t submit any extra certificates (I should have. I didn’t think about it I was too excited/nervous) I think there is a separate place that will be obvious along your application journey where they will ask for certificates or special programs.
For international students the dorm costs are built into the first semester of classes. I mean it’s in addition to the classes. I don’t remember the exact price but you also do not have a choice. It’s mandated to live in the dorm for your first semester unless you have family that already lives in Tokyo. So for basically everyone, you will have to live in the dorm for your first semester no matter what. Then you can move out into your own apartment. As far as food, there is a meal plan that you can buy but I did not do that so I can’t really speak to that. I cooked a lot or ate out. Most of the students either ate out or cooked for themselves.
Sorry for the late response. The dorm that I stayed in is nearly 1 hour commute door to door. They have a couple of dorm buildings I believe, but they are all nearly an hour away.
@@wesworldjourneys Thank you so much! Oh wow that is far. We live in Tachikawa and my daughter will start TUJ in Sept. We were looking into staying in the dorms, but our house is closer. Took us 55 minutes door to door when we tested the commute.
Gaijinpot is a good source to look for apartments. They will connect you to an agent that will help you to find something. I was very lucky and was accepted to the first apartment that I liked. But it is true that as a foreigner, it can be very very difficult to find a place that is not explicitly for students.
I would check here to know for sure for you. www.tuj.ac.jp. The school itself is pretty affordable I think. Compared to average US prices but you have to check it out to know for sure. You also have to pay to live here. Rent, food, transportation, etc. it’s not particularly expensive to live here. I’ll make an expenses video soon. But check out the website. It is pretty dope here tho.
I'm planning on applying for fall 2023 lol, I'm really fuckin scared that I won't get accepted into Temple and I don't know why, do you have any advice to applicants and are you comfortable telling how you got in? Also great video bro!
Hey thanks for watching. As far as getting in I didn’t do anything particularly special. But I already did my first two years of GenEd at a community college in California and kept my GPA pretty decent. Then when I applied to Temple, for my personal statement, I had a friend read mine and give me feedback before I submitted it. That’s it. And crossed my fingers haha. Good luck. I think you’ll be fine.
Hey man, I was exactly like you 7 months ago. I was super confident that I was gonna get accepted (3.0 GPA) but I was rejected because of bad grades I had from a college I attended 8 years ago and the classes had nothing to do with my major. My advice is to make sure you don't send any unnecessary transcripts. Only send the ones from your current college (or high school if you're still in high school) I was devastated when I realized I didn't get in because I really wanted to practice my 9 years worth of my Japanese self-taught knowledge and become an English teacher. Luckily I was able to get accepted to a pretty good university here in the states with a pretty good business/Japanese program and I'm happy where I'm at now. And I know I can always visit Japan and even attend a study abroad program. So make sure you have a backup plan in case you get rejected. It would suck to not where to go after getting rejected from your desired school.
do you have any socials you reply in? i’m 17 turning 18 interested in TUJ with my girlfriend also being interested. application season is here so i’d like to see and hear more about your experienxe
