Hey Jessa, from working on data recovery for my clients, i have found that since the iPhone 5 Apple has been using using a SMD microphone array component that does include a thermocouple included in the metal housing of the microphone driver element. It serves both as a thermal warning for extreme external temp, or more localized reading from a specific location. Now they are not very sensitive to temp changes but it does work as a thermal shut off for a thermal runaway situation. That is why the incorporated mic on the charging flex in the iPhone 5 was a critical component. It has been that way every since then can tell if the 4 or older did it the same way because that was before my time working on devices so no data to pull from lol. BTW iOS is the base OS for both the iPad, and the Apple Watch OS but of course they repackage it for the respective devices. That is why iOS gets new features first the distributed down the chain. As for the BGA IC located on the flex it houses the power amp for the mic, and serialization of the housing to the MB. Serial can be read with some common BGA chip readers, but the easiest is to transfer the chip to a know good flex.

Hi Jessa! Good to see more streams. Brings me back to one of the most fun weeks I have had of training. Quick thought. For ease of either diagnosis or plain old data recovery, I wonder if it would be possible to make some flex assemblies that have in-line/passthrough connectors. Each assembly would have the single component required by the CPU. ie. a double sided flex with just the the mic and then another double sided flex with the prox. etc. Then you could stack them as needed
Microphones are used as a barometer on drone controllers to sense elevation. That diode next to that chip could also be the a stabistor for temperature sensing. A little more science could have been done the slow way. Thanks for the time you already spent though.
Barometer idea might be a good one, in the xs the log fault is listed as Prs0, ie pressure sensor missing. Why would the device require a check in from a pressure sensor to stay on? Is there some kind of practical safety reason that abnormally low or high pressure could warn the CPU about-to the point that missing that data is considered catastrophic?
@@JessaJones not safety but location reporting in 3d. GPS locations require the barometer. Data collection is their primary commodity, and that’s not unique to Apple. Now “geo tracking,” is even admissible in court.
Idk but could you jump the sensor and the mic with a cork board using pins and alligator clips fast and dirty?😮.poke the pins through the traces into cork and attach clips.
have you dialed with iPhone 15 already ? specially with a new charging chip that is serialized to the "BIOS" ?? chip nearby ?
I think you should buy a pager for your kids if you so against a phone in this age
Because it’s Apple, it can if it wants and if you touch it you void the warranty. But as you say “I void warranties” 😂😂
Just fyi, dont know if it's generally known, but the chip is vital if you change backs to third party, move the chip from the original to the new 3rd party and it'll think it's an original back (serialized).. Third party is considerably cheaper than 1:st fyi, and from what i've seen they managed to re-create the flexes decently.

My phone kept restarting the OS but that was because my phone’s space was full. (Pictures and video).
But if the space was allocated properly for system stability, that should never happen.
What's going on with t😅he sum thing is that those numbers are in hexadecimal, 0x... When the number is zeros with a single non-zero 1, 2, 4 or 8 it indicates a single bit turned on. Two problems, two bits turned on.
