Pro tip: You can still demon dance in aerial mode! Jump onto the monster go into demon mode in the air, aim urself and then mash X+A and you should do the dance when you land.
man I kind of miss the older silent vids but I'm so glad you're narrating and still making awesome videos. you single handedly got me into 4 and I'm so ready to start mhgen and use some thing new.
Man, I was sure I didn't knew good enough this weapon since I began using it with MHG, but now, thank's to you, i have a REAL good basis to work on. Man, you're awesome
I may be 4 years too late, but I just got Generation for like 5$ at my Local Gamestop, and since I have to adjust back to classic MH from World/Iceborne this guides are perfect! Thank you so much
also in aerial style, like in guild style, you can perform a loop attack to build DG or HG. it's really, really simple. simply input X (X* if your weapon is sheathed) A X X. so, X (X* if sheathed) A X X repeat. same motion applies for DM and AD. or simply A X A when weapon is sheathed. not much people know it. also, you can still do it even if you have no stamina left. just remember you can't perform anything afterwards until your stamina comes back.
So that explains why I'm missing the Devil's dance. Such a fan of it but Aerial style is just so much fun. Looking forward to trying Adept style. Thanks for the video!
One thing I discovered while using arial in archdemon mode: if you turn on demon mode again, and perform an arial jump, when you press x you will automatically home in on the target. Basically, you become a homing missile and I love it to bits.
1:24 You mean a horizontal slash? :P Love these videos! Concise but in depth! And good visuals to go with it, too! Maybe it's because I haven't played Dual Blades since Freedom Unite for iOS (my first MH game) but the aerial style's slow dodge felt like a good counterbalance for being able to do attacks while dodging. Gaijin said that aerial style didn't really have big drawbacks but he didn't mention how much the slow roll can mess with you dodging a charging dragon. In the immortal words of Piccolo: DOOOOODGE!!
Thank you so much for these videos, you have no idea how much I improved in Monster Hunter with you around. Your tutorials truly, TRULY made a huuuuge difference for me. I still felt super proud today when I discovered you can still do the devil's dance in aerial mode if you jump, activate devil's mode and hit A+X upon landing. Or is it the hurricane slash? Should look it up more closely next time I try it. But I think it's the devil's dance as I tried to evade out of it and it didn't work.
I too am in love with the slingshot! I am oddly hyped up to go into demon's mode and spin to win at the touch of the special attack button. I couldn't enjoy demon's mode because you had to do the twirl jump before slingshotting, but now I can comfortably say that striker is viable to me. lol
Definitely looking at either adept or aerial, maybe mix and match, aerial should be great for flying monsters which the dual blades do suffer against, I'm probably going to use adept more often as it helps my aggressive and opportunistic play style. plus that inner beast skill will make an awesome trump card.
I actually had planned, from the demo with DB and Aerial before it was announced for the west, on making Aerial DB my main weapon and style! I've mained DB since MH3U, so I'm REALLY looking forward to it! If only they'd announce the exact launch date so I can pre-order a physical copy of MHGen, I'd be golden!
Back in 4U, I ran a set with Stamina Recovery Up, and I liked it a lot. I personally really don't like having to manage Stamina Juice (both supply and keeping it up during the hunt) and I generally prefer this skill over Marathon Runner as well (plus, I had a neat +8 Sharpness, +5 Stam Rec Up charm, so that helped). When I play Dual Blades, I toggle between Demon Mode on/off a LOT, also in the middle of attacks. I find that X attacks can fluently transition into the R button press, and Stamina Recovery Up makes this very easy to take advantage of. It allows me to spend stamina much more freely than normal and I like how this affects the weapon and how it is played. Hope I can build a similar set in MHGen. I'm not much of a Dual Blades player, generally speaking, but I certainly know how I like to play the weapon.
my apologies if anyone else has told you this already in these comments but I found out that you can in fact do the normal devil's dance in aerial style. Its only accessible by activating demon mode while on the way down from kicking off a monster, then pressing X+A as soon as you land. again my apologies if you did mention that in the video but I don't remember seeing it
also worth adding: the two free demon dashes you get from an adept evade are completely invincible (or at least to a really big part, I never got hit during them). with dual blades you pretty much cannot be punished for an adept evade, unlike the other weapons with their auto runs or charge animations
I know its way too late and someone has probably said it already but if you're not in Demon mode and use aerial style you can still do the devils dance. You have to do the air jump switch into demon mode in the air and then as soon as you land you can do the devils dance once.
iceman put out a drama vid about you. I hope you're the bigger man and just keep putting out great content and ignore it. he also disabled the like buttons buttons and comment section and even mentions that he wants to keep it between the 2 of you yet there's there's a video.
How about all of you stop ripping into iceman for no good reason? You're so dumb it's sickening. You clearly all watch iceman since you know about his video. Like he said, you all just hear rumors about what's really going on from outside sources. And before someone says I'm just and iceman fan trying to start drama, let me say the only thing here I AM a fan of is monster hunter. I don't care who the hell the creator of the of a video is. I'm not hating on anyone but taking sides on MONSTER HUNTER RUclips CREATORS is crazy
Finally someone mentioned the Archdemon Dance. So many dual blade mains don't even know about this. I taught a person dual blades back in 3U and I might come back to them. I'm sorry Chargeblade but its time I return to my monster hunting roots.
Gaijin hunter your the best dude u always help me on monster hunter games thanks for that I will always support u my names Brandon and continue to make AMAZING CONTENT
Dual Blades were my jam in 3U, but I was mainly a Charge Blade guy in 4U. The Aerial Style Dual Blades are basically perfect for my playstyle though, so viva la Dual Blades!
At 2:50ish... was that just an ancient potion, or some other stamina thing I'm unfamiliar with? Thx. I can see myself burning through Gypceros for dash juices...
Aerial demon is just too bloody good. Been trying other weapons to see if I can fancy something else, but given that say hammer is the closest with reach, it's way too cumbersome vs duals and duals stack that damage quick and pretty safe.
one thing to mention: There is an infinite combo you can do in any of the styles, I think.after the slingshot attack, hit X to do a short uppercut, then A to immediately go into the jumping slash, interrupt that with a slingshot and repeat. This allows you to stay in demon mode even with no stamina.
Nice video ;) Just a few extra things: Demon Mode gets Super Armor just like always, so no tripping and immune to High Wind Pressure. There's one way to use Devil's Dance in Aerial, in Archdemon mode, aerial jump, R into Demon, X+A when landed. Not very useful consider the distance you will move but it's there. During the two evades that you will automatically do after an Adept Evade in demon/archdemon if you don't attack and hold the circle pad, you are COMPLETELY invincible. To me this is broken.
Another great tutorial video as always, I'm just waiting for you to do Sword & Shield still, I wanna see what's up with these new weapon oils I keep hearing about *_*
I'm playing the Demo, and you actually can do de Devil's Dance in Aerial Style. After enter the Demon Mode in mid-air and hit the ground X+A. Just to let you know, my mentor. Nice work.
I always loved the demon dance spam of the older games... so Striker definitely is looking good, but that lack of Archdemon mode is a real killer there. I guess I could just use that for when I got plenty of Dash Juices to spare. Aerial is definitely looking really fun, but it loses the demon dance... which may actually be a good thing I guess, given how long that dance takes including the end of it (Cause only striker can dash outta it)... I don't wanna just stick with the Guild style, but may do that simply to get a second art and keep my demon dance and archdemon. It just feels weird sticking with what is pretty much the normal mode given how much choice I have now...
I have one question about this.... The aerial demon mode jump attack: ( 6:37 ) Are those simply the aerial part followed by the ground part, making the total attack power higher than devil's dance, or the difference between demon mode and archdemon mode? ...I'm still likely not going to use the style too much due to the fact I can no longer normally dodge into a monster, but if that's the full damage output and not a difference in mode... holy hell. That's practically a on-demand hunter art or greatsword slash.
When you successfully do the aerial jump in Demon mode with ur weapon drawn u will do the first attack (12+15+15+12) automatically, and then if you are in Archdemon mode you can follow up by press XA to do the aerial Devil's Dance which is the crazy number below.
U can still do devil's dance if u jump on the monster with either weapon sheathed or in archdemon mood by pressing R+X+A or R enter demon mode in the air and press X+A again the second u hit the ground. I use it a lot after u successfully monut a monster and go straight back into attk
It's like a loop up and down, the attk when u fall u can change direction. And for quick recovery do regular X attk once or twice and then side step to cancel it, follow up next combo
8:34, those demon eyes look so freaking sexy....Gaijin hunter confirmed to be a yandere... On a serious note, Dual Blades got more buffs and I extremely enjoy its speed and movement in MH4U and I look forward to trying it again in MHGen. Although you said on twitter Charge Blade will be the last, it is still my most anticipated tutorial video which hopefully comes out soon!
Because i dont have the money back then (even now), i never really had any console since i was a kid but my cousin's brother is a huge fan of games so me and my cousin used to play ps1,ps2,ps3 games all the time and thats how i managed to keep up with the amazing world of video games and just recently bought MHG and MH4U for 3ds but the only thing that made me sad is how late i'am (multiplayer is almost impossible to find). But better late then never right. Thanks for this guide, new sub and stay safe guys
4:16: 80% of the damage? 29+(4*(4+4))+6+(18+18)=103 total; first and last hit are 29+(18+18)=65; so their combined damage is 65/103=63.1% of the total... What am I missing here?
yo dual blades all day every day. but great video man. can't wait to get the eng version for the okuma dlc. but the fate stay Night dlc is pretty cool also neon dlc.
I used Aerial Dual Blades once in the demo... and now, I can never choose any other style ever again. o_o On top of that, I received an insane talisman with +10 Mounting while I was rank... 2? 3? I forget. It was just a couple days after the launch, and it made me so happy. Still using it now, actually. :3
I used the Dual Blades Adept Style for my first solo hunt when I was at PAX East. I feel like I should have gone Aerial, but I clicked into a mental zone when I focused on evading and following up with blades up the Dinovaldo's butt. The evades themselves feel a little less impactful than the other weapons to me.
Hey gaijinhunter! Love your videos, mate! Keep up the good work! I'm beginning to get back into the game now, I was playing MH3 before but didn't get the chance to finished it. So, as a noob, i have a few Qs (anyone else can have their input), i love dual blades and I'm playing with Aerial style cos it's so much fun, I was wondering what sort of gears I should use in terms of armor skills? I'm currently taking down some notes from other guides - Sharpness, Hone Blade, Crit Up , Elemental Crit Up, Fast Sharpening are must have... Anything else I'm missing? Cheers!
Man, you do a really great job but could you put the controller's boutons when you speak ( I mean write the buttons with the youtube tools) I'm french and I don't allways understand what you say and the order of the buttons. I love your videos.
would you say that having a mega dash juice or eating a mopshroom (to get infinite stamina for 2min) is extremely useful compared to just switching between demon mode and arc demon mode, and having a different skill such as attack up L/ blunt benefit. I will admit always being in demon mode is extremely convenient and having 15% more damage to moves seems like it is equivalent to something like attack up L/blunt benefit.
Gaijin, I play Evade distance DB's in MH4U ALOT, and it almost looks like the regular db evade has been extended...or is it just me? or is it just that you get 2 free, faster evades after bushido effect... ALSO, you forgot to mention that Striker style DB's still have the slingshot, you just press the special button, with mega dash juice spam, you can do some pretty crazy stuff with it, ive watched some impressive striker style plays using the slingshot.
Hey there. While using Adept Style, how do I perform the slingshot slash while I'm trying to fill my Demon Guage? I keep doing the stationary Devil Dance. I've heard of a "demon cancel" to do it but I don't know what that is.
I really like the way the Aerial DB looks. I wasn't a very big fan of Devil's Dance, so I don't think I'll miss it too much, even if it was very effective. But then again, Adept DB looks cool too. I feel like I'm stuck between 3 weapons: Aerial SA, Aerial/Adept DB, and Adept LS. What do you guys think of these choices?
Does anyone have any tips for enjoying DB? It's the only weapon in 4U that I can't get even any enjoyment out of. It just feels so spammy and boring to mash constantly. I feel like I must be playing it wrong.
+sei fuku It depends on how you play it. Personally, I like to spam the spin attack which, as you mentioned, might get a little bit boring..It really comes down to whether or not you're a fan of hitting with weak, fast attacks or not. Also, make sure that you pick the right Dual Blades for the monster you're fighting. With such low raw, it's important to either have a good status or an element the monster is weak to. If not, it's gonna feel like the weapons are super weak.
+sei fuku It's my second main when I go online. I like to think that it's a support weapon, since it's *very good* at tripping monsters, allowing your team to go full ham when they're down. That and DEATH BY PAPERCUTS.
interesting, i was testing out the styles in the demo and was trying to see which one i would play the most. I was worried that adept style would slow me down a bit since it focuses on defending and countering.
Hey, I`m interested in the monster hunter cross guide book and try to order it on amazon.jp. does anyone know if they will ship it at all? or will there be huge shipping costs? amazon.jp got everything so much cheaper than ours in germany :/
I like aerial and striker as I'm not a good dodger therefore I am not good with adept. But with striker and aerial still be aggressive and fast the best way to use DB
Duuuuuude listen to you! You're so much more confident behind a mic now. Nice work as always
+db5240 thanks!!!
+gaijin hunter When are we gonna get the charge blade tutorial?
Not you yourself bruh

Inner beast looks wicked. Aerial style seems like fun no matter what weapon you use.
I like how your hunter looks hunched over when using Inner Beast, that with the glowing red eyes just makes you look like the devil that you are.

Wow just noticed that hahah
You actually got me to watch these tutorial videos just by hooking me in with your intro. Great job.
After trying them in the demo, Aerial style Dual Blades are definitely going to be my go to in MH gen. Fun, Extremely mobile, and you looks amazing.
man I kind of miss the older silent vids but I'm so glad you're narrating and still making awesome videos. you single handedly got me into 4 and I'm so ready to start mhgen and use some thing new.
Thank you so much
Seeing the Strider set made me wanna use these. So I came to your wonderful guides once again!
love your videos man! I always play training missions while you explain them because they help so much
Just got into this game with my husband and sister. Thank you so much for posting these! So extremely helpful!
Just started mxg and your tutos are of so much help, huge thx to you and your awesome work ! (+ you're an excellent teacher/hunter :p)

So that explains why I'm missing the Devil's dance. Such a fan of it but Aerial style is just so much fun. Looking forward to trying Adept style. Thanks for the video!
Adept style sounds amazing for anyone that prefers Archdemon mode to normal demon mode.
One thing I discovered while using arial in archdemon mode: if you turn on demon mode again, and perform an arial jump, when you press x you will automatically home in on the target. Basically, you become a homing missile and I love it to bits.
1:24 You mean a horizontal slash? :P
Love these videos!
Hoooooooly shit Dual Blades are looking *FANCY*
Thank you so much for these videos, you have no idea how much I improved in Monster Hunter with you around. Your tutorials truly, TRULY made a huuuuge difference for me.
I still felt super proud today when I discovered you can still do the devil's dance in aerial mode if you jump, activate devil's mode and hit A+X upon landing. Or is it the hurricane slash? Should look it up more closely next time I try it. But I think it's the devil's dance as I tried to evade out of it and it didn't work.
Thanks for this! I have found my old love for dual blades

Woaw! This is way better with voice over than your MH4U videos with just onscreen text! Keep it up.

@ 6:42 HOLY FUCK WHAT DID THAT KELBI EVER DO TO YOU???
Kept his horns from me!
THEY WOULDN'T GIVE ME THE HIGH QUALITY PELTS I NEEDED.
Enoch Hilliard I would go as far as to say I am a kelbi enthusiast so I agree with your criticism
I know its way too late and someone has probably said it already but if you're not in Demon mode and use aerial style you can still do the devils dance. You have to do the air jump switch into demon mode in the air and then as soon as you land you can do the devils dance once.
Also, to note, during the adept's demon dashes after a perfect evade, you have full i-frames during the entire duration of those 2 dashes.
iceman put out a drama vid about you. I hope you're the bigger man and just keep putting out great content and ignore it. he also disabled the like buttons buttons and comment section and even mentions that he wants to keep it between the 2 of you yet there's there's a video.
+BrainFr33z3lasers ill ignore it. RUclips is a place for enjoying content and games, not drama.

I knew about the Archdemon Dance!
I just don't use it.
Gaijin hunter your the best dude u always help me on monster hunter games thanks for that I will always support u my names Brandon and continue to make AMAZING CONTENT
the best thing about the dual blades is getting into a groove and spamming the slingshot while constantly repositioning yourself. so much damage
Great video as always, though one minor mistake. You only have to use R+X to draw into Demon Mode from an idle position. 2:15
I think he also missed how the two demon dashes after an Adept evade have full invincibility frames.
Holding out for SnS next....
same
+Pyroniusburn waiting for that one as well still watching the others tho.
+Pyroniusburn Lucky for you he just announced via twitter that he'll probably make one next week.

Dual blades are so darn satisfying but having to sharpen them so often is just a real pain
I have 4u and with sharpness +1, razor sharp and minds eye, these weapons are ridiculously overpowered
really? that does sound OP but how many slots does it use? (or what armor/talisman)
star knight armour
and you can also gem in an extra skill
ah, okay.
heard thats good armor.
one thing to mention: There is an infinite combo you can do in any of the styles, I think.after the slingshot attack, hit X to do a short uppercut, then A to immediately go into the jumping slash, interrupt that with a slingshot and repeat. I'm not trying to hate on Gaijin's videos; I'm just pointing out the typos so his future videos will be better.

I used Aerial Dual Blades once in the demo... and now, I can never choose any other style ever again. o_o
On top of that, I received an insane talisman with +10 Mounting while I was rank... 2? 3? I forget. It was just a couple days after the launch, and it made me so happy. Still using it now, actually. :3
db aerial really really fun, jump and spin until the end~
Aerial duel blade is some of the most fun I had in MHX. Can't wait to play with other people in my language lol.
cue the attack on titan opening theme
mesquita _ so true haha!
The Satsui no Hado is slowly creeping into these games after seeing that Inner Beast Art.
MH is a Capcom game after all
DUAL BLADES FOR LIFE!!!
Percival917 Dual Blades for life AND afterlife! Dual Blades forever!
I just preordered the game!
So hyped!
These always show up at just the right time!
Only started liking Duals in mhp3rd, in 4 i mained it and in Generations i freaking love areal style
Gaijin hunter, will you make a video for unlocking each hunting arts?
I love the guide you make
my favorite style for the most weppons is zhe arial for sure
I used the Dual Blades Adept Style for my first solo hunt when I was at PAX East. I feel like I should have gone Aerial, but I clicked into a mental zone when I focused on evading and following up with blades up the Dinovaldo's butt. The evades themselves feel a little less impactful than the other weapons to me.
Damn adept looks amazing with dual blades as it would help keep you in the fray longer with the adept evades
Cheers!
Was waiting for this one! DB4LIFE!
Man, you do a really great job but could you put the controller's boutons when you speak ( I mean write the buttons with the youtube tools) I'm french and I don't allways understand what you say and the order of the buttons.
I love your videos.
would you say that having a mega dash juice or eating a mopshroom (to
get infinite stamina for 2min) is extremely useful compared to just
switching between demon mode and arc demon mode, and having a different
skill such as attack up L/ blunt benefit. I will admit always being in
demon mode is extremely convenient and having 15% more damage to moves
seems like it is equivalent to something like attack up L/blunt benefit.
yay thx man. I needed this one!
oh god I miss playing this game, it's been almost a year. I even got the japanese DS just to play this game lol
iHoisd Uhhh... I know lol.
Hey can anyone help me? I've just picked up the DB and I don't have the demon gauge under my sharpness meter...? What am I doing wrong
Can you do a top 5 weapons in Monster Hunter 4 or when MHG comes out? It would be a nice thing to see and would probably get alot of views
I've got a mixed set that gives Challenger +2, Critical eye +3, and Speed sharpening. It's a great set for the faster hitting weapons.
A Person who is on the Internet
Bish please
Attack Up (S)
Critical Eye+2
Repeat Offender
Elemental Crit
Crit boost
Zenix The Vanished Nice! Is there a certain talisman in that? Cause that's a really good set
Found ut floating around the monster hunter google+ community, have not asked yet
I think Cantaperme used it in a speedrun against Deviljho 2
Can't wait to use this with the Strider Armor!
Adept LS, Adept DB's, and Aerial DB's are my three favorites for sure.
all
Does anyone have any tips for enjoying DB? It's the only weapon in 4U that I can't get even any enjoyment out of. It just feels so spammy and boring to mash constantly. I feel like I must be playing it wrong.
+sei fufu adept style should fix that ^o^
Just think that you are a ruthless savage, swallow a Mega Dash Juice and enjoy.
Just stay really close to the monster and evade when needed. Always keep mega dash juice because it's hard to enjoy this weapon without it.
Adept DS + Inner Beast + proper attack placement
PART BREAKS FOR DAYS
Yo Gaijin, you should do a Q&A video. You haven't done one in such a long time, if at all. I can't really remember.
What was the item you said to use at 2:45 ?I couldn't find it
the item he uses is an ancient potion, it completely restores health and stamina, you can craft it.
DS Aerial is my favorite combination in MHX.
the bushido style with pretty much any weapon is just insanely good. its bordering on broken
Well, Inner Beast may take a while to charge, but during multi monster hunts it may be a little more helpful than in single monster hunts.
interesting, i was testing out the styles in the demo and was trying to see which one i would play the most. I was worried that adept style would slow me down a bit since it focuses on defending and countering.
I love Adept DBs, they're so much more aggressive than the other Adept weapons.
Hey,
I`m interested in the monster hunter cross guide book and try to order it on amazon.jp. does anyone know if they will ship it at all? or will there be huge shipping costs? amazon.jp got everything so much cheaper than ours in germany :/
I like aerial and striker as I'm not a good dodger therefore I am not good with adept. But with striker and aerial still be aggressive and fast the best way to use DB
Can still be aggressive and fast forgot the can oups haha
why some of the hunters art's name is different in my game? example, mine is not inner beast, but wolf's maw
Wow DB are so powerful in MHGEN/X! And inner beast looks so cool :D!
Hi, do you have any tutorial regarding the armor skills for db in mhgen?
