Have you ever been playing Monster Hunter but wished that you could play as a weaponized helicopter? Congratulations, here's aerial dual blades!
That comment deserved more likes than it has
I love this comment! xD
Tbh it kills big boi monsters faster than aerial GS
Between you and GaijinHunter you guys are both a massive help to aspiring hunters, keep up the amazing work, you make it easier to understand how we can be the best we can be.
Dual Blades can be summed up in three words:
"Spin To Win"
XD
I now expect a Garen costume for MHX in the dlc
Spazz to win. Also, extra hit in combo art looks OP and awesome AF
+Shadowslash1 lol
Ariel style plus duel blades equals attack on titan
I decided that I,d use DBs throughout my playthrough of this game, and I did most of it in aerial style, notably if I needed some back breaks and cuz the style looked amazing. BUT DAMN, once I went into bushido with DB, I am just not coming back to aerial except against monsters that fly a lot like rathalos. Talking about playing hyper agressively that I dodge absolutely everything and counterattack everything, I'm talking of rapid dinovaldo kills without getting hit here. It helps that I have a lot of experience on fast-paced action type games and somehow rhythm games, really helps pulling off those bushido dodges with relative ease.
But my absolute favorite part about DB is that sweet yukumo village armor with combo rush, supercrit and elementcrit, I combine that with a weakness exploit tali and go for those sweet weak body parts with the ravenous wolf active and I watch the monsters beg for mercy. If my face could pull it off, I'd be doing the same smile that Speed 'o' sound Sonic did to Saitama in One Punch Man.
I've been playing Monster Hunter since MH Tri, and I'm still discovering new things about weapon classes. Throughout 3 Ultimate, I didn't even know about Demon Dance on Dual Blades, and in the Charge Blade tutorial video, I didn't even know there was a yellow and red shield charge. Makes me feel like a newbie hunter!
Hi Arekkz, your Monster Hunter Generations tutorials are the BEST on the Internet I can find. Thanks heaps! Very helpful - I'm using DB for the first time in Monster Hunter...!
There is one little thing to note about Striker style, you can dodge out of demon's dance at any point which is a unique trait among the styles.
+Bryanneo1 Yeah, Striker and Aerial are the go-to Hunting Styles for DB imo :)
***** I dont think you can
+theupperking Aerial Dual Blades cannot perform the Demon Dance.
Aerial DB strictly requires Dash Juice (or Mega Dash Juice), especially in Demon Mode, due to the combination of rapid stamina depletion & Aerial Jump. If you don't have neither the Dash Juice nor Mega Dash Juice, the armor skill Stamina Recovery would be useful.
+Jordan William Which is why blizzard lagombi with swallow strike(atk up larg for all mount atks), evade extend, stam recov up is what I use for aerial
I'm a tad late but your tutorials are by far the best just to understand all the possible weapon combos and inputs. Thanks a ton, man. :)
Thanks, these videos helped me decide which to pick without having to test for hours myself.
Aerial DB... Imagine if they ported the Attack on Titan gear dlc to this game...
Mh x snk happen one so it's possible
DB got that massive overhaul. Looking even better this time around.
I like how they've been paying attention to DB with each progressing installment.
Yesss, my first main. Can't wait to try out Bushido and Aerial.
So like, I've been watching these and loving the tutorials. I've even been learning things to continue using in MH4U while we wait for the western release. But I've been wondering when/if you plan on releasing bow/bowgun/heavy-bowgun tutorials? I know the least about those weapons and are very interested in how they change between the styles. Anyways, loving the videos, keep up the good work!
Sir TheDude97000 one week and your wait is over
Aerial Style actually DOES have access to the Demon Dance attack, it's just a bit tricky to use.. basically, you can activate it only *as you land from a jump* ... I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I THINK it had to be if you don't perform an attack during that jump or if you are in demon/archdemon mode or both.
Discovered this while beating a Rathalos to death with a set of beer steins. And yes, I chopped his tail off with them, too.
rs35505 That only does a puny little mini demon-dance. To do the full thing, IE the same move as X+A in demon mode in other styles, you have to enter demon mode midair and then hit X+A right as you are landing.
rs35505 It's not as bad as it sounds. Just jump on the monster when in regular or arch-demon mode, then hit R mid-air to activate demon mode (and you can change your facing by holding a direction while doing that) and then hit X+A when you land. You're giving up an aerial attack to do a strong ground combo, but then again if you do this from Archdemon mode you'll still get the aerial attack on the way up.
Great video Arekkz, now I'm begging you, PLEASE do the gunlance!
"Demon Dive-bomb".... If that isn't already the official name for it, it should be.
finally the dual blade weapon workshop is out
Aerial was made for Longsword too. Yasuo from League comes to mind.
I love the rush of duel blades no guard only attack. Risk and reward are the best way for me to describe them.
Damn straight! aerial style is the one for DB
Thank you very much!
My wombo combo: Demon Mode. Wolf's Maw(Ravenous Wolf).Blood wind.w/Striker Style
I think Bushido will be my pick with this weapon
can't wait to get the English version in August!!!! xD
Very helpful videos, specially when you can't understand japanese, looking forward to the other tutorials.
never really was a fan of the Duel Blades, but that additional Beast Mode that can be combo with Demon Mode looks BOSS! when are toy gonna do the Gun Lance?
I haven't played X, so I'm not sure whether it's the same (but because I doubt they've removed it, I'm mentioning it anyways) the A attacks can be given directional input. If you hold right while doing the A combo (easiest after another attack) you will do a different animation for the attacks and jump to the right as well. I'm not sure whether it does more damage or not, but it's just a fun little thing I thought that was worth mentioning
I have to agree with Aerial being my favorite as well. Gaijin referred the Aerial Switch Axe as the new mounting king while I beg to defer. Yes Aerial SA is extremely good at mounting however Aerial BD is the new mounting king when coupled with Beast Mode art. But even without Beast Mode active, I can get mounted before the monster can even roar for the first time at the start of the fight.
best youtuber far
If this comes out here, then I will og Striker with Dash Juice. Like SnS, small loss, 3 arts. As a Dash Juice user, I see no problem in not using Archdemon mode. The arts charge really fast, and I've heard that it can dash out of Demon Dance quicker than the other styles.
Woa! theirs a hot air balloon in the background!
You missed another move with Dashing off a Ledge Arrekz. When you attack again after dashing off a ledge, you'll do a sort of diving attack that does mounting damage.
actually, demon dance is available in aerial style, you have to switch to demon mode in the air and then press x+a upon landing (kinda weird to use though)
great vid. thanks !!! keep up the good work #dualblades4life #MHX4theWest
The Hurricane slash is in Aerial. He didn't mention this so enjoy!
You kinda forgot to mention hitting X when doing the spinning top off a ledge puts you into a diving finisher and extends the attack.
These tutorials need motion values listed for the different attacks. For some weapons, the motion values change between styles too (usually striker style). Also, there are some smaller changes here and there too such as a faster charging hammer in striker style or a faster charge slash (A) in bushido charge blade.
For sure gotta use aerial when i use DB
although I main the sns I might try the DB
you said that demon dance is available in arch demon with the arial style? so does that mean the windmill dance(the short one) or is it the long full demon dance
Aerial dual blades is what made me sink so many hours into the game. I couldnt get used to the other weapons early on but after spending much time on these I finally opened up lol
In the thumbnail, are those some sort of yukomo themed dual blades? If so how do I get them?
Great tutorial as per usual. I'm not a DB user but may give them a try in MH Gen. What set are u wearing? It looks fierce.
Incinerating dinovarudo
+Mike Ftzlgard Cheers
looks like dual blade is fun to use again
Um, Arekkz, just one thing: do you know if any skills like Constitution+1/Constitution +2 or Stamina: Marathon Runner can slow down the consumption of the stamina bar during Demon Mode? If anybody else knows, I'm all ears
Hey Arekkz, have you tried Final Fantasy Explorers? It's almost exactly like Monster Hunter with a Final Fantasy XIV like combat system and jobs instead of each weapon is a different class.
Oh hell yeah! I'm creating a DB'er and naming him Akuma! MESSATSU!!!
A very important change of Dual Blade in MHX that really should be covered in this video. In DEMON mode, you can press the special attack button to DIRECTLY perform the *spinning blade dance*, which back in 4U can only be chained after a jumping slash(A).
This might not sounds like that of a big deal, but for anyone who plays DB would understand, being able to perform spinning blade dance in demon mode greatly improved the mobility and versatility of demon mode. No longer being the "slow walking but powerful" mode, now it can be just as agile as the lovely archdemon mode.
Note: you can place a bigger special button on the lower screen.
That would be useful. I'm having a hard time to catch up with monsters in Demon Mode, that's why I oftenly uses Archdemon Mode.
+Savien I was wondering how spinning slash could be performed without chaining from jumping slash while in demon mode from some of the mhx play-through I've seen. Thanks for the clarification.
I've got no idea on that too...
after playing the demo in my opinion I say either guild or aerial are the best being able to mount is great but that missing demon dance is so little annoying however with dash juice u can use the slingshot spin to start getting close to build ur demon :/ are so its great as well... so if I. I kinda want guild tho because I'm so used to it I can't decide x[
what is the music in the background?
could u make a guide on what weapons in each weapon type are the best to aim for at the start of the game? or even just a best for low rank and then the high rank guide as there just doesnt seem to be anyone with videos regarding starting weapons only the best weapons in the game for end game content
+FuryousD The only thing I know is that the best weapon for beginners is the sword and shield.
I'd agree, but for me my first weapons of choice in MHFU was Dualblades and Longsword. In MHgen I went straight for Charged Blade for its utilities, while using DBs for elemental damage, Greatsword in Aerial style w/Cheda Blade, and bow or IG for when I'm with friends.
could anyone tell me where Arekkz imported his 3DS and the Monster Hunter X game from, Thanks in advance.
In guild style is there still the follow up to your jump attack with x similiar to Aerial Style?(while in Demon Mode, Archdemon mode dashing over ledge)
+TheJinjitsu Yes. Aerial DB is super popular in MHX, but some players still stick to Guild Style and nothin has changed.
What's the name of the dual blade he is using at the beginning of the video?
What do you press for demon jumping?
I'm watching Arekkz Gaming and Gaijin hunter and NONE OF THEM HAVE DONE GUNLANCE YET!
AHHHH
I was already kind of deciding on striker style, been using DB since MHFU and loved old school..
but dat air syle....
When is the estimated release for and English version?
Can you use the aerial slam hunter art in the air from vaulting off a monster with Aerial Style?
sunswine64 haha I wish, that art is useless just because of the whole ledge thing...
are this the same conbos as the monster hunter xx?
I'm debating whether to use dual blades, charge blade, or bow in mhx. Any suggestions?
+Ash Charge blade by far.
what swords are those and is there a wep tree
I only use dual blades because i can't stand slow attacking weapons, I always continue combos too far and get hit with any other weapons, and the blades are small so they don't block the screen as much as other weapons do. I do make long swords all the time though just because I like how they look lol
Throw the Hunting Horn users a bone and do the HH next? Also, the only support weapon (unless you count SnS) and no one uses online. I have yet to see a HH user online, which is pretty dumb when you think about it.
striker style is basically mh3u and any before it so for me striker style is my basic style plus 3 hunting art, the hunting gauge is introduce in mh4 and mh4u, is a good addition but i still the prefer the dip in dip out of demon mode it allowing more time in demon mode over all. also the demon gauge meant u have to fight base on it, with striker style aka old school u can cheat it with dash and mega dash juice for infinite mode (really help me with lucent nagacura in mh3u
mh3u did have the bar.
I enjoy Striker mode the most so far, while the Aerial Art is a bit meh, the quick charge for Wolfs Maw and Blood Wind are absolutely devastating. In demon mode these two arts can just rip through a monster and a super aggressive Striker play style helps me get them up asap.
Why can't i use demon dance in arch demon mode? im using ariel art
Do gunlance
Please do the Switch Axe next!
+Psyco Josho you can go to Gaijinhunter's channel abd watch it.
I know. i just wanna watch as many videos on the SA as I can. :)
hey, i know that weapon rex slicers!
how do i unlock the beast mode 2 and 3?
scorch zero flying nimbus attack that should name it
Personally, if the game is released in the west, I'll go for both Aerial and Striker, though I might wind up favoring Striker more.
Hmm...would rather go Bushido Style (For me at least...). The Bushido Evade fills the Demon Gauge, I used Archdemon Mode a lot in 3rd Gen onwards. Losing the Demon Gauge is very awkward for me just like the Striker LS loses the side Fade Slash. My Hunter Art of choice is of course the Beast Mode [Hungry Wolf].
In 4U I mainly stay in Demon Mode 90% of the fight, so the Archdemon Mode isn't really utilized. Striker and Guild cater to that gameplay, but Striker having the 3rd HA and faster charging if I get hit is better than Guild, especially for the set I want to use with it(Golden Thunder). HA's being Hungry Wolf, Bloody Top & Frenzy Bottle.
My Hunter Arts for Striker Style: Baast Mode [Hungry Wolf], Absolute Evasion, & Absolute Evasion [Battle Ready].
I considered Absolute Evade [Battle Ready] for the resharpening ability, but there are some DB's with a good amount of sharpness(without Sharpness+1/2) that can be used instead. Also, without Razor Sharp, what you get back from Battle Ready, doesn't last all that long. Plus I've gotten pretty good at dodging with DB's, so I don't really need the Absolute Evade skills.
Hmm...I don't really need that Art too.
Are they the new tigrex dual blades?
They look sweet
+C Johnston Yep!
+Arekkz Gaming What are they like? I didn't see any element effects. Is it just raw damage?
Ya Tigrex is generally raw + negative affinity
It'd be really nice to have MHX here in the West :s :s :s
What is the background music ?
(A.Demon) ATK> X+A is called Demon flurry lol
What's that blue aura thing around 9:30?
That's known as the skill divine blessing.
how do you do demon dance for aerial style?
+Marcus Tan Activate demon mode in mid-air and then press x+a at landing to perform a demon dance.
I'm going to main Ariel dual blades when monhun gen comes out. do you have any tips and/tricks to keep me from fainting while still being aggressive?
You got to figure out the specific monsters move sets and safe moments while still knowing where you're going to land. Also it looks like you could use the Aerial's divebomb to try to land somewhere out of the monster's hitboxes and still get back into a combo. However, this is just speculation, game's not released here in America yet
+Crescent Moon it is on about a month ^^
+Crescent Moon but thanks for the tips
what is that on 6:27?
Arekks I HAVE to disagree with you. I don't love the Aerial style at all on dual blades. It gimps the dodge, which is your only method of defense with Dual Blades, making it slower; and being in the air is fine... but i don't find it enjoyable and I don't consider it more useful than having my rolls and dodges. In addition to that the Adept Style leaves me my dodge and makes it infinitely better in every way. Adept Style can nearly make you invincible if you know the monster you're fighting well, and the damage output on it is nothing to scoff at. In terms of effectiveness for Styles on Dual Blades from least to greatest i'd probably have to say Guild < Aerial < Striker < Adept by far.
lbg next
you seem to like dinovaldo armor...
Is the Hellblade armor considered arguably optimal for DBs?
www.gamefaqs.com/boards/163462-monster-hunter-generations/74081940
Some people here seem to think it's arguably better than the hayabusa crit build but I'm still not too sure about that.
I have to change weapon. I generally use lsword but since the R of m'y Ds doesn't work Ive no choice. Such à pain!
+bender rodriguez You can repair your R button ya know.
Hey arekkz can you do an episode on the variant dinovaldo armor
The full set of Incinerating Blade Armor at Lv 1-5 would have the skill Divine Blessing, & The skill that allows you to maintain your sharpness for 1 min after sharpening (Oops...I forgot the skill name), & the full set at Lv 6 would also give you the special skill Incinerating Blade Soul (Sharpness+2, Speed Sharpening, & Trajectory (For Gunner) combined in 1 skill). Levelling each piece would give that piece 4 Def increase up to Lv 8, Levelling it to Lv 9 would give that piece 6 Def increase, & Levelling it to Lv 10 would give you 16 Def boost for that piece, with final Def/Piece of 124 (The initial Def/Piece is 70).
+Jordan William thanks it has some good skills and the design looks awesome
Oh, about the resistence:
Fire: -20, Water: -15, Thunder: 5, Ice: -10, Dragon::0
+Jordan William Oops, the wrong one...
Fire Res is 20
what's the best style for dual blades am new
+Χρηστος Λαζαρακης Aerial or striker.
MY BABIES!!!!!!!!!!
background music theme name?
when you junmp off a ledge ans press x in air demon or A deamon u will bo a crass hit and cont as a mount
What?
just try it
+xray1011111 I couldn't even understand what you said
deamon mod jump off some thing and press x
Oh
I'm an adept dual blade user. So I'm used to dodging INTO enemies and dodging things such as tremors and roars. I switched to aerial style once and can't Dodge any of this. Is the invulnerability period on other styles really that different? Is superman diving the only way to avoid such stuff?
Jdacunto1 you can avoid many attacks with basic evasion. Adept db is like having god mode enabled, is easy to use, and worst of all people won't grasp the game mechanics using that. Zero effort, good rewards, You better change to guild or striker to actually learn the weapon. Im playing since mh portable and can totally say adept db is mh easy mode, just my opinion
Murakumoforlife I'm starting to get a grasp on adept GS. The great thing is, it's not easy mode like adept DB. If you adept to the wrong attack, you're stuck running and open for attack, whereas DB gives you 2 free evades. You know what, since Double Cross is almost out (or already out I don't know), new game, new playstyle. I want to handicap myself a bit. What style and weapon would you recommend?
Jdacunto1 when you get the grasp try guild gs or hammer, to learn prediction of monsters movements, and learn weakspots. If you want to watch some extremely good hunters with this slow, precise weapons, try to watch dadasuke and efembaum fo hammer, akantorex, origamitim chang and kazefatalis for gs. Hope this help:) and try the gunlance too, every weapon is really fun in mh!!
Murakumoforlife When does Double Cross come out
Jdacunto1 when it will be localized, probably end of this year
what's that armor?
Dem Ruinous Hook Claw Tigrex Dual Blades.
Which armor is that?? Holy shit does it look good.
Incinerating dinovarudo
Mike Ftzlgard Thank you!
That Ravenous Wolf Tho
+DraXern 4120 :) eeeeyup, just another reason to love Dual Blades. though Gun Lance is still my favorite, and i'm still waiting on it
+ThePokeShapeshifter Its actually one of the hardest arts to hone to lv 3. lv 2 needs you to hunt a silver crown deviljho.
+The Troubleshooter Worth it
it is but I still have to run to the end of quest chain to get lv 3 so lv 2 was still did its part alright
+The Troubleshooter Meh, whatever you say, i'm still waiting for the Weapon Workshop on Gun Lance in MHX :)
GL next???
think I'll use striker style after coming back from mh4u that'll be weird.
+Rapid Wing you'll lose archdemon if he didn't mention it in this video
He did that's why I said it'd be weird coming back from mh4u.
MH4U had Archdemon Mode, though? If anything, it's Guild Style that's the most alike to MH4U.
Do you know if monster hunter is coming to the us
Yeah it is. Release date has already been confirmed to get here on July 15th in the middle of summer
Michael Bunn
I'm not the game developers so I'm just glad I get to at least start it before the school year starts. I don't mind waiting
For the people who think arial style is op, it's not because there's something people don't know about it and that is you lose all invincibility frames while evading and diving
+Ayad Polis Not True. You actually have I-Frames for aerial style, and not just one but 3 of them. 1. when you press B to perform the somersault 2. the entire motion after you have reached the top of air until you fall back to the ground (this is if you didn't step on objects to perform double jump) 3. the moment you hit monster / object / attack / roaring / fireball etc. and initiate double jump. You DO get I-frames for those 3 moments, but not long just like regular evade.
+Ayad Polis I remember Gaijinhunter said that Aerial doesn't have I-frame when he was covering MHX news prior to the launch of the game. Maybe there was some misunderstanding, but that is not true. If used correctly, those I-frames can be a good way to get away from monster's roaring and attack. That being said, In the air you are still in danger, and depends on the weapons, Aerial can range from VERY GOOD, BEGINNER FRIENDLY, PRETTY FUN, USEFUL, to TOTALLY POINTLESS (bow I'm looking at you). Is it OP? No in terms of doing DPS, it's still balanced. But it is fun and quite valuable for many weapon.
+DraXern 4120 yeah, that's about the Aerial Evade (official name), I guess that's what Ayad meant? But yes normal evade and dash (DB, CB) have I-Frame just as usual in Aerial Style.
Unlike the normal dodge which has the invincibility time at the start of the dodge, Aerial dodge's invincibility time is at the middle of the dodge (Getting hit by phsysical attacks in the middle of dodge would have you instead to jump off the attack). The start of the Aerial Jump also has the short Invincibility time. I use this advantage to knock Rathalos off it's aerial charge.
How to jump?
