I might be mistaken but I'm fairly sure Rolling Stone rated Reign In Blood as the "Heaviest Album Of All Time" due to its relentelssness. I'd highly reccomend checking out the European metal awakening that was happening. When America had Metallica et al, Europe was putting out Celtic Frost, Entombed, Carcass, Napalm Death, Mayhem, Dismember, and more and more who were forging their own path unique to the American metal sound
FYI, no-Jesus Saves is a criticism of christianity, not a praising song. As for Tom (Are-I-Ya), I don't see him is inferior to Mustaine, but to each their own! 😄
Yea I discovered that after the fact. As for Tom, his vocals have grown on me a lot and I enjoy what he brings to the album. Maybe not inferior but different from Mustaine
I praise the album constantly throughout and it was one of my favourite metal listens for the month. What's the issue? Did I not praise it enough to your liking?
With the lyrics in front of you, how can you question whether 'Angel of Death' is pro or anti-Nazism or if 'Jesus Saves' is pro-Christian track? Mengle's crimes are described as 'sickening' and 'Jesus Saves' makes a mockery of Christianity (that is: the song is clearly anti-Christian but that isn't necessarily the opinions of the individual members).
Well it is a first reaction so picking up on the direction and message of every track won't always be accurate but that being said, "Angel of Death" is a pretty morbid and overly descriptive track that is hard not to question. Just because they call his actions sickening doesn't mean they don't have some sort of disturbing fascination with what he did. There's not a clear indication of right or wrong given some of the lyrics point of view. It's a great track but the lyrics have been controversial since release and I can definitely see why
@@Randyjoe213 Just making a song about the holocaust is enough to make it controversial. It's a subject that should never be used as cheap entertainment. But I don't think any seriously think that they were in favour of torturing people to death by medical experiments. The people who sympathize with the Nazi's always do their best to downplay the concentration camps or outright deny that the holocaust ever happened. This is quite the opposite. By making a song about the horrors a lot of people now are aware that the concentration camps were anything but work camps for political dissidents. And you learned yourself about Josef Mengele just by checking out this album. In that way Slayer have been part of preventing that these crimes will be forgotten or swiped under the rug.

He perfectly captures the theatrical side of metal. He's a style over substance singer. That makes for a great singer in his own way since very few could match that kind of energy and tone
Imagine Rick Rubin was producing this at the same time he was recording Beastie Boys License To Ill.

Love how this album, and much of Slayer in general, is minimum songs and minimum length. It's like there is no room for filler.

@@Randyjoe213 I actually prefer Tom's, but only because I'm more into harshness.
Would be nice if I could get a vocalist for both of my albums.

Im not even going to any further on this reaction.

You are clueless dude
Come on Dave is not a great singer either.

Too much talk.
