Dear Beth and Joe, O! What fun it is to cook holiday dishes with you! Thank you for welcoming all of us into your kitchen for good cheer, great recipes, and nostalgia. This is the magic you create: it doesn’t feel like a YT channel, it feels like HOME. 🏡 Happy Holidays and all the joys of the season to your family, from ours! ✨ 🎄🎁❄⛄🍲🥗✨
Aww best comment ever! It's really what I always hoped for the channel, for it to be a home where everyone feels welcomed, nurtured and cared for, and if you learn something while dropping in all the better!!
Beth, you and your dad are such a treasure and a delight to look at. Sometimes I have to rewind to hear, because I'm just so caught up with you two. This is a rare thing these days, and it truly warms my heart to see you and your dad, like best friends. That's Christmas, to me , family gatherings, good food and lots of laughter. That's the best gift ever.
Isn't it the truth?! It really is the best gift ever! So grateful for both my parents and they beautiful childhood they created for us :). Best gift in life!
What a heartwarming video. My mom has Alzheimer’s and I wish I could remake with her an orange cake from my childhood. I love seeing you with your dad.
Very interesting! There was a restaurant in London called “Only starters” because so many ladies would go there for lunch and announce “I’d like 2 starters please” x
I remember having this english muffin appetizer at my siter in laws in the mid 70's. I had lost the recipie and she passed away years ago. Thank You so much for this - a great memory! I'll be making them soon - with the egg!
Beth, your Dad is a treasure! I too have fond memories of my parents hosting cocktail parties, music on the stero, dancing in the living room & laughter. My job was to rake the shag carpet before the guests arrived and serve the appetizers.
My parents had the same kind of parties! But my dad would make one signature cocktail and everyone drank it. There was music, dancing, and fun...it seemed fun from our bedroom as my sister and I listened. Great memories ❤
I was enjoying the stories so much I never paid attention to the recipe! It looks delicious though and I can't wait to try it. Happy Holidays to you and your beautiful family!
Most special video, the bond of love between you and your dad so visible! The appetizers look delicious, going to make them this weekend. Beth, I would like your take on appetizers in general - don't you find them sometimes spoiling everyone's appetite for the main course that you worked so hard to prepare? How long should you allow between the hors d'oeuvres and your main meal?
Beth, these look delicious and so easy to make! Can’t wait to try these! The story about the 2 ladies at the wrong house is hilarious!!!🤣 Will check out dad’s podcast. I hope you and your family have a VERY Merry Christmas!!🎄
What a treat to have your dad in the kitchen with you! He’s so charming and great on camera! I have to say I did a double take over the title... I first thought you were calling your dad weird! 😉😂🤣 (Not that there’s anything wrong with being a bit weird. 😂🤪😂) But at second glance determined you were referring to the appetizer as being weird! It looks like you both adore being in each other’s company and I find that very heartwarming! Love all the family memories! 💗💗💗
You and your dad are so sweet together. I love that you both share the gift of hospitality. I'm sure countless friends and family members have been blessed by your generosity of home and shared meals.
You and your dad are so sweet together! It is a joy to hear you all reminisce about past holidays. I also really enjoy the cute vintage photos of your parents ❤️✨
Just started the video and I wanted to thank you! I always like the dynamics between you and your dad! Love it when your dad is with you! Thanks! Teresa
Oh Beth, this was so fun to watch! I love your dad. I love all the reminiscing. I love how you learned to entertain from your parents. What a treasure. Please do these more often!!
I always LOVE the holiday video where you cook with your Dad, competitively or not! 😉 Your beautiful mom making her appearance as the tester (or judge) at the end is the crowning moment. What lovely parents and daughter! This took me back a little bit! I remember these well! I'm enough older than you are that I experienced them in my late teens and early 20's. For Christmas, we'd chop up a little red bell pepper and sauté it very lightly just to soften it a bit (we weren't fond of crunchy peppers in this or on pizza). The red with the green onion looked festive. I loved them so much that I'd make them for lunch and eat them alone or with tomato soup. As a student nurse, I took on a job sitting with an elderly, housebound woman for a few hours during the afternoons to fill in between the evening/nighttime and morning nurses. I made these for my patient first as small lunches, too - they weren't overwhelming for a small appetite and she would often eat two or two and a half where she would barely touch other things. So, I made them often and, as you and your dad say, got creative. I turned them into a sort of mock Welsh Rarebit by putting a slice of tomato, deseeded, under the cheesy layer. She loved prosciutto, so sometimes I'd put a thin slice or two of prosciutto or chicken/turkey breast under the cheese instead. Occasionally I'd cook a few slices of bacon and sauté a few chopped mushrooms and mix one or both into the cheese. For that summer, I think she and I ate these a million ways almost every day! Your childhood always sounds magical and it's easy to imagine your charming parents graciously welcoming everyone to their home and extending their hospitality. You definitely inherited the genes and internalized their lessons! ❤ Merry Christmas to you and your parents! I'm sure I'll have a later opportunity to express those wishes, but I'm sure your wonderful dad will be reading comments and wanted him to be sure to see them! 🎄♥️🎄♥️🎄
You and your dad are so sweet together. I love the story of the wayward party guests who came to your house by mistake. We had a similar thing happen. When my husband and I got married (46 years ago) we noticed some people in the wedding reception photos that we didn’t recognize. We asked both sets of parents and they didn’t recognize them either! Still don’t know who they were-but they appeared to be having a good time!
I just love it when you and your amazing Dad cook and decorate together. I have loved his fabrics for years and to find that he is a fun and dedicated family man just warms my heart and makes me miss my funny dad who loved to cook too. Love all you do, Beth! Like the other commenter, it always feels like HOME when we visit your channel. I wish I could travel to France with you and your family. I have desired to go for years and have flight benefits with my former employer airline, but hubby for some reason hasn't wanted to go there yet. We even have friends who moved there years ago and sadly the wife passed recently so now we are really sad we haven't gone to visit them. We are getting older and need to make my dream come true soon! My Dad was there in WWII and I took years of French and had a French penpal when I was in school. Do you do any tours yourself? You should! It would be fun with you!
Awww... Beth, I absolutely love this cooking segment with your dad. The true spirit of the season just shows through. When you were telling the story about the ladies coming in your house and later finding out that they were in the wrong house and not wanting to leave is so funny but touching knowing that they felt so welcomed. It reminded me of about 10 years ago, I always do a buffet style Christmas brunch at the house, and family, friends, and neighbors just pop up. However, that year, a recently widow man who had lost his wife to cancer was walking our neighborhood with his 2 young daughters riding their little bikes. When he saw the people coming and going and he decided come-in our house. At first, we thought it was a friend's friend, but he later approached my husband and I to confess that he was a stranger who lived in a nearby neighborhood. Then, he told us about his wife and the rough time he and his young daughters had been through. However, seeing his daughters smile, play, and eat in such a festive and loving environment made him forget about their situation. And, isn't this what the Christmas season is all about? BTW, we all became the best of friends, and my kids and those 2 girls now call each other cousins. Merry Christmas!!! 🎄
Oh my this is the cutest story ever! What a sweet and touching memory! See you never know how far love can go to heal a wound and lift someone up! It's a wonderful time of year to think about how we can each lift each other up with the smallest of gestures, because we never know what people are going through. And especially in today's world, we all need it more than ever! #spreadkindness
You two look so good together in the kitchen.i am also papa's girl and i can understand this beautiful bond between you and your dad.its always amazing when he is in the kitchen with you.
I make something so similar-I add curry powder and mayo, omit cream cheese, all on rye toast points. One of my favorite appetizers around the holidays-delish!
Beth, we love your parents! They are such a great example of genuine love. I will be making this treat. Gosh you're so lucky to have the family you have.
I must agree, the two of you are precious together 😉 I smile as soon as Y’all are standing there and by the end my cheeks are aching 😂 I hope you all have a joyful holiday 🎄♥️ Karen

Apricot sours and mai tais were popular, then came Midori sours a little later.
