Some Most common Mistakes Foreigner do in India.
    1) They stick with New Delhi and north and miss 95% of india which is totally different n beautiful.
2)Every Indian cities has high luxury hotel but they choose cheapest one.( n feel uncomfortable)
    3) Instead of a good and hygienic indian food restaurant they choose cheapest road side stall ( n get sick)
    4) In search for local culture n tradition they choose most dirty or slum area of city where only poor lives.(later perceive whole city dirty).
India is most diverse country. It has everything from cheapest to most expensive and the Cheapest thing is for poorest Not for foreigner.
One more thing India has most affordable internet so use it for everything from food to traveling and choose Best one Not Cheapest one.🙏

They're sick of amazing Hotels and all this luxury in their own country. They come India to get a new experience.

Cheap doesn't always have to be dirty, That's the mentality we need to have. They come to India for a new experience, if they wanted to live in luxurious hotels and eat the usual rich food , they would have stayed in their own country only. We should accept that we lack in many ways, the cheaper places can atleast be cleaner , Nobody is asking for better facilities just cleanliness. It doesn't require loads of money. We really need to improve, instead of blaming them.

@@yashkumarthakare2199 why would they ??? They don't belong to this country. The real culture is on the street only , it can't be seen in the 4 and 5 stars hotels , there is no logic in going to a country and then not even seeing the real culture of the country , secondly even our airport system doesn't work properly . So That's obvious that the foreigners would show , what they would see. This logic that cheap has to be dirty is the main reason that our country is in this condition. Apart from that , they do a lot of research. Not all foreigners are super rich , so that they can afford these big hotels. Indian can't get sick by eating any food , Japanese is basically just boiled food . The culture is there in food , street , real common people , the dances and music which you can't get the 4-5 stars hotels. So calm down . You don't want to agree , don't agree. I believe in accepting and then improving rather than giving excuses and blaming them as scammers.

We endded up beeing the ONLY women outside at this hour (it was about 9 pm but it was pitch dark), and we had no idea where we were or how to go back to the ghats. Other than that, the whole month was great and there's not a day that I don't think about it or wish to go back...

I've been in India for almost 2 months now, and I am absolutely loving my experience here. Now at first I'm not going to lie, I was terrified, after sometime I learned to relax and take things one day at a time. For sure I haven't seen alot of India, as I came to get engaged which turned to me getting married instead, but I've been to a few places in Punjab and will be heading to Delhi soon. I haven't gotten food poisoning yet, and yes I've eaten outside my husband's home multiple times. The people and food here are awesome and I will miss that when I go back to the states. The clothes are beautiful here, and so was my wedding gown. Once I go back to the states I will come back after filing papers for my husband to go to the US. I'll also be applying for a 10 year multiple Visa and, if possible, dual citizenship with US and India. I guess I'm saying I fell in love with India and not just because of my husband, I fell in love with the culture, traditions, and the rich history of this country.

The only mistake foreigners do while visiting INDIA is that they just travel to big cities mainly to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Mumbai or Bangalore. Real India uncovers when to travel to other parts of the country, travel to Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, North Eastern states, Munnar etc (though I haven't travelled a lot but i can assure you there are like countless places in India you could travel to) real diversity of India uncovers only then. "Dont just go to big cities and think it represents whole of India". As someone other also mentioned in the comments section "India is like countries within a country" if you want relaxing trip then there are places up in the north for that. What you did in your first week in India was like "Travelling to Tokyo/New York in order to get a relaxing experience" though none of the cities in India compares to Tokyo/ New York, well you get the point im making right?

I knew exactly where you could eat without any problems and my girlfriend had the most greatest time of her life. She loved it, never got sick and the only problem was that she had to handle the spiciness somehow. India is dirty and neat at the same time, there is order and so much disorder and the same time, there is a lot of chaos and serenity at the same time. Thats what makes it special. Visit India. India is a subcontinent with variety of climate which most of the western people wouldn't be comfortable. Best time to visit is July onward when the rains hit this vast country.
      Suggestions for visiting India.
      1. Download Irctc app for your railway reservation and tickets booking.
      2. Download makemytrip app for your flight and hotel reservations. Hotels listed there, are from budget to 3,4 and 5 starts depending upon your choice.
      3. You might be friendly with uber in the West, well it works here as well. Some places ola taxi is also predominant. So download the app.
      4. Most of India lies in the small town. Delhi, Mumbai is not wot india is all about. Explore Himalayan states like uttrakhand, darjiling, sikkim, himachal for trekking experience and southern most States for lovely secluded beaches. Goa and Kerala are some of the most beautiful sea shores.
      5. Take a train. The trains in India are really comfortable and clean. That too with the cost of your 1 time meal as per western standards.
      6. Rajasthan state has forts, palaces and history with rich Maharaja culture deep-rooted in their customs and traditions.
      7. Metro cities in India are as good as their western counterparts. With restaurants, pubs, bars, clubs and daily hustle and bustle.
      8. I can't write all the things here, I bet you will have a life changing experience here.
Welcome to India. For any other info, you can write to me at vaibhav.5982@gmail.com

This is also a fact that no country can compete with India in luxury , culture and heritage. Even being invaded by so many cultures and countries we are standing for ourselves. The world's most expensive hotel costing you somewhere around USD $20000/one night is in India .. 1 month of travel after reading some books is not enough for India. Here's a tip about visiting India: Avoid the major cities at all costs, especially Mumbai and Delhi, unless you REALLY REALLY want to look around the monuments or markets. Because the reality is,even average Indians want to go OUT of the cities ,not IN because they know how it is in there. It's a sensory overload for everyone and pollution hell. Go visit Northern Hill stations, visit South India, Western coast cities/beaches or North East instead. Just because Delhi,Mumbai are the most popular Indian cities you hear abroad about doesn't mean you HAVE to go there. Also,if you absolutely HAVE to travel by train (which I also don't recommend), don't be cheap about it "for the experience" and settle for anything below 1st AC atleast. For your own good.

We have great immune system , that's why we can eat those street foods. But everything too much also hampers us too... But you as a foreigner you must take foods from some quality restaurants and should avoid cheap hotels and lodges.

Beauty of India is that you can have luxurious of times or go on a spiritual journey whatever you choose to in a single country. The diversity and togetherness of people irrespective of religion/region is overwhelming. Almost everywhere in the country people are welcoming and invariably radiate an aura of togetherness. Chaos and calmness are part of the country. The country has something for everybody.

Our country might be chaotic, dirty or busy, but its the best, we are an example of unity in diversity, we have multiple beautiful cultures, huge variety in good food u wil ever get to see in any other country, which definitely doesn’t cause food poisoning, people are more welcoming, freindly and helpful that u wil ever see in any other country.
About your hotel experience in Mumbai, u must have booked the low budget hotel, Mumbai is amongst the top and beautiful cities of India, and there is more to India which u cannot just cover in your thirty days trip and no our food is not unhygienic, bad experiences happen sometimes, that doesn’t give u right to say that we have unhygienic food that causes food poisoning.

" relaxing trip " - what does relaxing actually mean?? Isolation? If that's the case why travel - lock yourself in your room... And India has loads of places which are isolated that will give you that solitude experience.
India has it's own way to move - if you fight it - you lose and India will not accept it, and if you accept India for what she is, you will love her and be equally loved back in return.
Cities and people - Indians are inquisitive, giving, supportive, friendly ( sometimes annoying ), loving and caring.. They will go out of their ways to help you out and you will also find miniscule few who may want rip you off too!! Life isn't rosy all the time, or is it?
Indians don't understand the concept of " personal space " because we grow up so entangled in relationships, care and people involvement in all aspects of our lives which I think is a blessing.
Having lived extensively overseas, west in my mind suffers ( I have not seen so many people with psychological issues in my entire life in India that I witnessed in a few months overseas) from issues which has to do with social interaction ... People exist but have little to no social interaction ( minus weekend pub binges) laced with social media and the distance becomes even bigger.
India may be an assault to your senses - but human interaction in general is. Humanity needs to be open and expressive and should be experienced in it's raw form which India provides in abundance.
Apologies not having a go at you - just expressing my views experienced in western countries which might be clean and organised to the eye but hugely confusing and assaulting to senses on a deeper scale where you are left feeling alone and isolated despite having people around you ... Opposite to what is visible to the eye in India.
As an Indian, who has seen the world extensively - yes we can be more organised etc but what India is and offers is a character the world needs constitutional laws to experience... We don't go on social media to show how much good work we do for anyone who needs help, we just do it... We accept anyone and every one for who they are without needing "equal opportunity law" and policy or term that as democracy etc , all religions are runspected and given full space because we don't feel threatened by them ( diversity that has existed for thousands of years) - because they add to our rich heritage already....all of which when seen by a westerner may assault their senses, but it's a way of life for us and we love it that way!! We don't want to be westernised because our way to do things may be different but it is more sustainable, accepting and evolved :)..

Dude why do you have to visit Mumbai and Delhi. If i have to plan a trip to India for my foreigner friend then it will start from Kerala. Next best thing will be a road trip from Kerala to Pondicherry. After vising pondi a flight to Andamans. Then after a few days in Andaman a direct flight to Jaipur or Udaipur which will lead to a road trip till Jaisalmer. Then take a flight to Chandigarh and rent a motorcycle for the best road trip of your life to Spiti and Ladakh via Manali highway and returning via Srinagar highway. That's all. The best ever trip of anyone's lifetime. Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi are so damn overrated. Why the hell anybody wants to visit garbage metro cities in India when the real meaning of life and culture is in Kerala, Andamans, Pondi and whole Himachal.

    • @parabsiddhesh

People visit Mumbai or Delhi because you get more flight options. Many international flights have their port of entries in Mumbai / Delhi, and not in Kerala. And if you land in Mumbai/ Delhi, you obviously have to spend a couple of days to see how cultural diverse they are.

Go to dirty places you'll find dirt, go to poor places you'll find poverty, thats how it works in India, it is a developing country, you'll find hotels at $10 per day and hotels at $10,000 per day.
And guess why it became a "developing" one in the first place? Thanks to your white cousins from ENGLAND who looted all the wealth and massacred the indigenous people. Indians were the richest till 1000AD and had an advanced civilization which wrote mathematics, medical science, philosophy, constructed architectural masterpieces which is so complex that is called "made by aliens" when much of western world was in dark ages.
