  • Negotiations will resume Wednesday between the union representing thousands of San Diego County grocery workers and Vons, Albertsons, Pavilions and Ralph's. If a deal isn't reached, workers have voted to authorize a strike in an effort to increase their pay.

Albertsons is by far the worst company I’ve ever worked for. You work your ass off, no recognition for anything unless your a manager. At my store everyone was part time and no one was receiving any benefits , even if they were basically working as many hours as a full time employee would. The bosses there will harass you, bully you, and take control of your outside life as well. The only positive outcome was I met my boyfriend and a few good friends. But work wise I will never work for a grocery store/Safeway company again. Seriously don’t get sucked into that sink hole. Life is too short

I have been a victim of a robbery 3 times at Albertsons. In the past 6 months. The store location, Ann and Simmons. The new store director is rude and is not costumer service friendly. She is creating a hostile work environment. She is creating a terrible shopping experience. The store is conspiring to trick the consumers. They are also hindering my investigation into the strong arm robbery upon me. The lady witch G M. Pam hung up on the phone on me. I am a victim of a gun assault by their employee, then I was a victim of a strong armed robbery, then I was a victim of assault, and then I was a victim of burglary all on their property. The store is filthy. 19 out of 20 of their employees are rude. 19 out of 20 of their employees are incompetent. They allow panhandling and homelessness to fester, the bathrooms floors and deli and bakery are continuously filthy. The checkers hands are dirty always. The prices are always wrong. Every time you check your receipt you'll find a mistake. The blood pressure machine is removed. The produce area has flies and insects infestation in the produce. The meat department employees wear headphones and they don't respond when you ask them questions and ignore you. I reiterate the worst thing is the general manager because poop goes downhill. And it starts with the anus. And this lady is the anus. There's two very nice employees there. And there's a third one that is extraordinary. The remaining employees that I've dealt with are all nincompoops or have behavior problems. Their customer service is horrible. Try calling them on the phone and asking a question see how long you wait on hold every single time. And this was going on way before covid. They've had many years at practice at poor customer service they have perfected poor customer service. The only reason why I shop there is because it's the closest grocery store and the next closest one is twice as far. They're ice cream is continuously melted in the freezer and icy speaking of ice they're always out of ice. Whatever is on sale they never have it from the first day on to the last day of the sale I saw a maggot infested pork chop. The employees are constantly smoking cigarettes in the front of the store in the back of the store and they stink like tobacco and urine. They don't wash their hands when they come back to the register. Their bathrooms are horrible. It never have soap in the reservoir or paper towels. That is if they're even open. They have flies in the deli case flying around. I bought a cake and there was a fly in it flying around. The Florida department has disease plants with mini bugs and aphids. The lines that customer service are so long it takes a half hour to get a rain check or to buy a money order. I highly recommend going to Smith's. I didn't even mention how expensive Albertsons prices are compared to Smith's. They take so long to check you out that the customers behind you get mad and angry. Causing confrontation between the customers. Every time I go through the register they overcharged me and I have to tell them wait that's not right you're overcharging me. Then the people behind me get mad. I know good customer service and I know bad customer service. Albertsons has terrible customer service especially the one on Ann road and Simmons. By the way protect your valuables in the store and protect your car. The courtesy clerks love to bash cars with their carts. They don't even bother collecting the card they just sit in the parking lot rolling in the cars. If you want a cart you need to bring it in the store with you from the parking lot. Albertsons is the worst. Don't eat their chicken whatever you do. They're fried chicken or their anything with chicken especially the rotisserie chicken. The rotisserie chicken is burnt on the outside and raw in the center. I wouldn't even buy their soda pop because the top of the cans are filthy like they urinated on them. And you have to put your lips on that. Just stay away from Albertsons. And if you have food delivered to your house from Albertsons be very careful. Anything perishable I wouldn't purchase. There's a good chance that milk has been at room temperature for hours and they meet as well. Stick with Kroger Smith's or Walmart.

I worked at Safeway for 21 years. I was a journeyman cashier. You used to be able to live comfortably on journeyman wages. Then Safeway started cutting everyone's hours and would hire minimum wage employees to do the jobs of the journeyman employees. I was pregnant with my son and my hours got cut so low that I lost my health insurance (first time in the all the years I worked there). I couldn't even get a second job because my hours were so varied. A 8-4:30 shift here, a 3-midnight there, a couple 4 hour shifts through out the week and always split days off. On top of that, I never got time off for any of my pre natal doctor appointments. I didn't get pre natal care until I was 5 months pregnant and that was after I quit. After I quit a lot of the journeyman employees also quit. I heard after Albertsons took over Safeway that it's even worse. Most of the people that work at the Safeway that I used to work at have no health insurance because they are only getting around 18 hours per week and only making minimum wage. People that work at the little mom and pop grocery store in the town that I live in are making more money than Safeway/Albertsons employees.

That explains why Albertsons (owned by Safeway inc) hired me the same day I interviewed. They definitely hire anyone who’s desperate for a paycheck. Other jobs like Chili’s (a restaurant I applied and interviewed at) just never called me back like they said they would. Fry’s (a Kroger owned grocery store) rejected me
before calling me in for an interview.

Albertsons lies they want to merge with Kroger so they can make more money compete against Walmart it's a joke they'll never spend the money in r&d technology is like go to their stores back for the 50s they'll never invest in their stores or the workers they better off going to a different retailer like Walmart that puts employees and their technology in the front I work in Albertsons I work there everyday hours are cut can't make my rent can't pay for anything at the level of food stamps and I'm not joking the recipe to shop these stores did you not care about you a customer they're just going to hike the price come out with cheap product but you think it's healthy they'll probably give you diabetes You want to eat healthy shop at whole foods

I’ve been a meat manager for Vons for over 15 years. I only make $27/hr in SD but the medical, sick leave and vacation benefits are awesome. I have a decent 401k also.
Vons corporate management was terrible in every professional way before the buy out from Albertsons. I don’t care because my work circle is small enough to be left alone for the most part. I’m fortunate enough to own a home on the coast and put kids through college so my job has done its job for my family.

I’ve worked at a chain owned by Albertsons for almost 3 years in the bakery department. Our management is terrible, the system is extremely biased and the downright refusal to send any support has run me into the ground for the last time. I put my two weeks notice in, going to look elsewhere.
