Boss when you go to the bathroom: YOU'RE STEALING TIME
Also boss: Why don't you come in in 10-15 prior to get ready for your shift?!

It's nice to see this important topic being covered by a major news source. A lot of news will cover theft from shoplifting, but never cover wage theft.

I've been "shortened" on my paycheck a quite of few times. But I let it go. However, with the cost of living for working folks who take public transportation, which alot of time doesn't turn out to be reliable in order for us to be on time for the start of our shifts, I for one can't just say, "oh well, I'll be okay"; NO! Not no more boss. Sorry but I have to live with deadlines and financial responsibilities, too.

The federal government and corporations are hand in glove. If you blame one, blame the other, as well. The fed already takes about 40% of earnings, if not more, from poor people. Rich people pay nothing because they take depreciations and other write offs.

I also blame voters who don’t do their due diligence. In fact, the ultra rich take advantage it to install corrupt politicians into the federal government to pass laws favorable to their bottom lines. Then again, you can’t just blame the whole federal government. There are good people in there like Bernie Sanders who dedicate themselves fighting for the common folks. They just aren’t listened to by the average voter who buy into this politics as team sport bs that the ultra rich have created.

Corporations are aided in their criminal wage theft, when news stations don’t report on it. I’ve seen little coverage on the recent news of Marriotts 9yrs of wage theft. I see very little coverage on wage theft at all. It’s so important yet so many news stations are ignoring it. This is wild that there are some still waiting for what they are owed. There should be interest for every day they don’t get paid. Ty for posting something on this.

We need stricter labor laws and we need them yesterday. We need a cap on how much top executives can earn. How did we allow things to get this bad?

    • @allen_the_king40848

Tax the rich! No individual should have a salary higher than a million dollars imo. Every red cent after $1,000,000.00 corporate executives make should be forced to go to something/someone else who needs it more than those hoarders. And if the executives want to complain, then they should be forced to go work their lowest employee’s job and live off their salary for three months.

The biggest part of wage theft is not letting people use their benefits. Benefits are as much a part of wages as money is. Not letting you use them is like taking money back.

You guys need to look at the Airlines and flight attendant schedules and salaries. Our saleries are just as nuts as this. The companies are picking and choosing how they pay based on the Railroad Act from the 1800's! Can you imagine anything from the 1800's being relevant to pay and moden work rules of the 21 century. This is the most corrupt system of pay.....

Its sad that wage theft has gotten so bad that almost 100% of hourly employees in the US have experienced it whether they know it or not and the most common is... benefits skimming. Benefits skimming is where a benefit thats employ paid is overcharged at a set rate to each employee and the employer keeps that money, not only that but they will make agreements for kickbacks from 3rd pparty companies. So say an insurance company charges an amount theyll pay an employer a % of it to use THEIR company as their provider. Mohawk, who i worked for, got sued for redirecting employees 401k contributions to buy its own stock which it inflated, took the profit and replaced the money, that one is still in court
