It takes a special breed to be able to hear what this young man is saying over the wonderful melodic composition being played over his voice recording.
The Deli was actually my first job and I actually had a lot of fun. (Though the pay was meh...) But there were two things I absolutely hated. My managers, and this one customer. Both my managers were cool but what annoyed me was the morning shift and night shift managers HATED each other. One wanted me doing something one way, the other another way. And if I told em vice versa, they would tell me to ignore said person. Really frustrating. This one customer was an old lady and every time I see her I go "Oh here we go..." She wants a chicken breast. Oh but not just ANY chicken breast. It has to be FRESH out of the package. Even if I opened one an hour ago she REFUSES to take it. And our policy is "If its open use it first." So every time I would have to argue with her if we already had one open. Then she would ask for the manager, manager would come in, yell at her. Shed storm out and threaten to never shop there again. And shed be back the next week. Yeesh...
Don’t know who will see this but yeah my first job was at the deli at Kroger in North Carolina. I have to say the best thing about that job was the people I worked with and my manger she was cool as well but the downside for me would have to be the pay, being that all of the things we had to do I would have at least enjoyed getting 9.00 I was getting 7.25 for all that work. Closing note for me I was able to survive after I got the flow of things but when I first started there were some people who would try to rush me to things so I would say if this is your first time take it slow and everything will go good
I worked at morton williams in 48th n 2nd Ave we had a wonderful team.. from 2016 to 2019 thank God for the opportunity bill and Bob the store manager this is me in the You tube training video..
Im glad you enjoy your deli. Mine is extremely high paced and understaffed lol. We have two different hot cases. Meat and cheese chubs, cold salad case, sandwich maker (for the floor), sandwich bar (like a subway where customers can get custom sandwiches, separate from the floor sandwiches the sandwich lady makes. Oh and we also have our deli on doordash, so we have to do doordash as well lol.
I work in deli for 7 months at Kroger Plymouth Michigan Ann Arbor , at first I like it training was difficult n mess up on orders but I got use to it n got the hang of it , I enjoy the free food n change the prices of the items lower 😂 but then I got some issues with some customers started to yell at me n employees didn’t help me that much I was always clean by my self cleaning those slicers n much more . If u really like to help people this the job or u but If u don’t like to talk at all it’s not the right one .
he never tightened the knob on the side of the slicer... and there was no stablisizing bar to secure the meat - and they never wore slash proof gloves to not cut themselves when manually cutting things. but hey- im from an australian deli.
I just got a job at a deli and I love it so far. The ham and sausage smell so good when you’re cutting it Lol I know I will run into rude customers but I have pretty thick skin. Wish me good luck!
@CAESAR PEREZ you say that but it’s not that easy sometimes there like 10 people and if one person asks for 2 pounds of meat that takes a while to do all while you have customers staring at you while cutting and giving you an attitude bit all customers but some, so yeah i get where he’s coming from
Any tips on how to get my store's deli-counter person to not cram more product in the container? I've ordered "One pound even" numerous times, I just keep getting charged more than what I ask for. Thanks in advance.
No offense but you’re the kind of person we hate. The chance of getting an order on the “even” amount is about a 1/5-1/8 chance. It all depends on the thickness of the meat or amount of salad you’re ordering. If you expect an even 1.00 lb every time, lower your expectations because we'd love to see how you'd do.
Facts I work at hannafords deli and it blows the people are completely rude, and coworkers are usually young adults or kids with their first job and it’s just a nightmare

I experienced a bad time with the e21 Morton Williams supermarket. The one at a corner and that has a ramp. A tiny rude Quisqueyan went to me and asked me open your jacket. I had to correct the tiny Nubian woman (of Sammy sosa’s race) what? open your jacket. She said again. I said why? A girl said she saw you out something In your jacket. I said I placed my smartphone in my jacket. I was taking pictures. I showed her some pictures I took and also showed her an old security guard badge to her. She didn’t like it. She said” I had to ask. “Before I showed her the photos and the id. I asked her, are you security. She said “I am the manager” and she wanted to scare me by calling security. The one who saw me first and greeted me said, “yes?Hello. I asked her” do you have Christmas type cakes? Christmas themed cakes / pies?” Sure. She said ,”You can have a festival. “She said. I then said , “I don’t know if I can afford it. “ I could not but another cake etc because I had already purchased one at another Morton Williams nearby that store. I then said, “that person need to get her eyes checked. See a eye doctor” The manager came and said that I robbed the store. While I was leaving the store I saw a Dominican with a cap that said security and said to him, “ I will tell people about this store.” All I said was said without yelling yet in a deep and serous voice. It’s hard to get it even, just tell them that you don’t want it to go over or ask them to take some off before they price it.
