I started a new job today in a deli and was asked to do this after watching one person once. I felt pressured to do it because it was my first day, but I don't think that was legal the more I think about it.
I just started deli dept. Like 3 & half weeks ago i wasn't scared to try the slicer but i did lil bad at first until the guy beside me was showin me how to do it only took me 3 tries & you just get into the feeling of it i love slicing them meats & cheeses kinda relaxes me it cuts so good haha & smooth the best feeling is when I i get that thick perfect slice & show it to the customer if thats how thick or thin they want it they tell me perfect

This is a great video. I'm starting a deli job soon. I learned to never date a girl named Camille and oh yeah, unplug the machine. Though if I can get someone else to clean it, I will.
People don’t tell the truth until they have the experience. In Vons Tarzana they throw you in there to the dely (your first day) they don’t do provide you a training, specially with this scaring machines, they expect you to watch other workers how they do it, for this machine, oil machine and fried ckicken machine, they should have a Supervisor to train their NEW EMPLOYEES!!
@@nathanfisk4054 it's really easy too slice your fingers. If you feel uncomfortable just ask your manager too help guide you through the processes and in no time it will become ingrained but just don't get over confident and always pay attention too what you are doing and be aware of other coworkers around you. Just remember that the slicer dosen't care what it is slicing and that your fingers and hands are just a piece of meat. Just be cautious at all times and you'll do just fine. Working in the deli is sometimes fast paced but take your time and be safe. And always ask questions about anything you are unfamiliar with. Hope this helps out some.

anthony guada lol I use this same slicer and it will not turn on if you set the cut size first then turn it on lol so right off the bat I'm like... This is better to see then it is to be a good deli worker
I think they forgot to unplug the machine
Replace meat product with head of manager and or rude customers and call it a day
Vincent Van Gore yaaasss😂
I've cut slices so thin that it created negative mass and almost destroyed the universe with the black hole i created
Yes, you must be able to defy physics to be a deli clerk. It's a requirement.
I want a half pound of roasted turkey sliced paper thin with paper between each slice.

Are we supposed to unplug the machine?
Slicing meat with the plastic still on it?
Funny I’m responding to your comment when it was posted 5 years ago but I work at the publix deli and we leave a little bit of the plastic on so we can keep the sticker of the date it was opened on so we know if a meat goes bad.
I worked a deli like 10 years ago, and this video had me cracking up.
4:02 low key ASMR... The sounds of cleaning.
Thanks for the informative video. :). Made it seem easy and I like being confident I will have 10 fingers still.
This guy just loves his life doesn't he.
I was trained to NOT use a cut glove on the catching hand. The cut glove can get caught on the blade and pull your hand in.
eek
This is a great video. I'm starting a deli job soon. I learned to never date a girl named Camille and oh yeah, unplug the machine. Though if I can get someone else to clean it, I will.
+legotfort i think he/she means that he left the plastic on ENTIRELY. i really couldve sworn i could hear the sound of plastic being cut during that
You close the blade BEFORE removing the product from the slicer, not after. Any time your hands are not on the handles the blade should be closed.
on that particular slicer turning the blade depth to 0 automatically turns off the blade.
the more you know
not necessarily. sometimes that feature fails because opening and closing it ruins it
***** regardless, that is still how it works.. if you have a broken slicer then you should replace it
or get it repaired
***** regardless.. having a discussion about the features of a slicer it is pointless to assume that the slicer doesn't work properly
I accidentally discovered this feature the other day
Have you ever made a slice so thin you can't see it?
You're telling people how to use a meat slicer properly. You left the plastic cover on the meat when you sliced it.

We always spit shine it at the end of the day.
I love using my meat slicer. I've sliced pieces so thin that I couldn't even see them!
And, unplug the machine 🤣
unplug the machine
Well at my job we have the "vintage 1965" type slicer so every slicer is diffrent
“Operate only if you are 18 years or older”
me: first uses it at fourteen, forgets to unplug the machine
A safer order is to turn off the slicer, close the blade, then remove the product.
Did you unplug the machine?
Close the blade before you remove the product.
Somebody must not be unplugging the machine
At certain angles, you look like Heath Ledger...
You forgot to mention turning off the machine.
Wait, y’all get Kevlar gloves?
I believe you close the blade before you remove the meat
Great trainer how can run Properly the slicer machine
Thanks for the comment
hes so cute .. the way he looks when the other guy checked to see if it was unplugged .. hes like yea it is.. lol
This is a Harmon's training video lol I work in the deli and I've never scene this lol
Can I use this for my school's training videos?
I saw this today I thought it was a ytp due to the unplug the machine edits
aaaaargh hate picking plastic of my thinly sliced meat
i would like to know how much for this unit?
What number shaves the meat...?
How do you clean the blade without turning it on?
the slicer is the best part of my job.
i truly thought that. i hate my job omg.
