Just went there 2 days ago. The line up was an hour long because the restaurant's capacity is 24 people. We were outside standing in the freezing rain. But if there was one place that deserved a long line this would be it. Do make sure you try "Noah's Pudding," "Cairo Classic" and "Honey Cardamom Latte"
Where is restaurant please ?
That is one good looking family with some dope cuisine. Kudos on this episode.
Indeed👍👍
Very nice of the family to sit down with you and walk you through their cuisine! Seems like a lovely place with a friendly and beautiful family.
Bryce
Arabs go crazy if you start eating traditional food the "American" way , you shall eat the traditional way . And so they would tell you how to eat it correctly and explain all the things that go throught it .
OR maybe... just maybe The host Lucas ASKED her to walk her through the different dishes. 😑😑😑😑
Bryce of course they should be friendly cause they're Egyptians😎😎
This is a re-post of Dining on a Dime: Toronto due to an error in one of our maps. Thank you for watching!
I don't care if it is a re-post of something as long as i have more LUCAS!!
Great job on inviting Lucas in the team do you have any other hosts with Spanish backgrounds that could do the same as What Lucas does I believe his Chinese American mix developed his open minded palate
Having an open minded palate probably has alot more to do with family and social contexts and background than with genetics.
Eater commie propaganda ffs
wth dude?
Legumes, fresh fruits, fresh herbs, olive oil...sounds like heaven and excellent for good health #gettingfitin2017
stylecollective most middle eastern food is like that ! herbs and olive oil is essential
Sure is! I have gone into a dietary lifestyle before that was a middle eastern- mediterranean combo, and it was the healthiest I've ever been. Watching this video reminded me how yummy (and healthy) the food was and inspired me to dip back into it.
Actually Egyptian cuisine is unique in the Middle East by using quite a bit of butter alongside olive oil.
The bit at the end where the family decided to open the restaurant together was pretty touching.
Egypt lives in the hearts of these lovely family members
Holy shit this looks like the chilliest family on the planet. They seem so tight too how awesome are they
I now live in Egypt but will go to Toronto just to have a meal at Maha's. Too yummy!
Very nice! Salaam to my egyptian friends. Good episode :-)
Definitely one of my favorite hosts. I love how informative and genuine he is. He doesn't try to pander to anyone and he doesn't have that fake style that you see too often with hosts who read from a script or cards. He loves food, the people who make it, and teaching others about it.
The editor must've had a little chuckle when he did this (3:26):
"Do you like eggs?"
"That's really excellent"
Egyptian. Food is awesome I love it
and we love you!
I loved this post! The food looks amazing and When I am in Toronto, I will bring my Niece to this restaurant for a meal. It is not too far from her home, so I think she will be going there on her own too. I love Middle Eastern food, with it's emhasis on fresh and spice. Thank you for this review.
Having watched a lot of episodes of DID to this day, I think I learned a lot more about different cuisines of different nations with Lucas and the people he interacts with more than any other show. Keep up the good work!
omg that looks soooo good
As an Egyptian, I have to commend the creativity of this restaurant. They were able to keep the authentic ingredients and flavors of Egyptian cuisine while imagining new forms of the traditional dishes. I’d love to eat there some day.
Also, I’m pretty sure the letters a in Maha are pronounced like the a in “man.”
Watching this inspires me to seek and search out "mom and pop" stores and restaurants to taste new flavors.
Ayyyyy egyptian girl right here✋✋✌
karalicious X no not really but it's really really famous there
karalicious X it originated in Egypt that is true
they think yes by the Copts who would eat it as a meat substitute during Lent and it made its way to the Levant. But the Syrians /Lebanese debate this. Molokhia and -bread are 100% Egyptian . Maqloube is definitely Palestinian. hummous, tabouleh, babaganoush, yebre (grapeleaves) , muhumera are definitely Syrian/Lebanese.
Egyptian boy living in edmontonn

So wonderful to hear their success story and the food looks delicious
Great family, great food, great story
Great story -- very inspiring !!
Eater you gotta try Haleem(lamb or chicken). Its a dish you get in the middle east and Indian subcontinent. The meat is slow cooked for hours until it becomes super tender. Classic mogul food.
great story of perseverance
Thank you for coming to my hometown and sharing this wonderful story. This restaurant is still successful to this day, so successful they extended the space! I've heard it's packed on weekends. This video reminds me I need to try it. They have a vegan/ vegetarian takeout menu.
Great food cuisine in Canada, wish you all the best of luck and success, proud of you

Definitely hitting this place up when I get back home to Toronto. Right now though, I'm digging the Seattle places. It's like this series was made for me. XD.
My hubby is from Cairo Egypt I make tons of Egyptian food
The food looks delicious
This is a block from my house. Ah the joys of living in a big city (take that Edmonton). I'll try it out soon.
Hey now. Edmonton has some good grub, too.
Anything interesting in Etobicoke? and it easily accessible to Downtown via mass transit or am I better off renting a car? Is that RUSH Tour company still around?
I absolutely love this!! Tons of Egyptians owning restaurants in the west and almost always cooking some "Mediterranean" menu that has no Egyptian specialities at all, which is truly a shame
I need to go here when I visit Toronto
5:24 - beautiful story.
Very nice family.
oh so this is a re-post. that's why it looked familiar. I knew I saw this episode before.

the lines on the weekend may seem intimidating but its so worth it for that falafel
To this day, this place still has a lineup outside everyday!! Must be good!
No way that’s MAHA’s!! From Lucas Peterson’s Dining on a Dime… never knew mark would end up winning latte art championships
Wow that's looks good! I'd go all the way to Toronto just to eat there. I wonder if there is a similar type restaurant in the Bay Area.

Show is better than Bizarre Foods! Subbed
Damned, I miss Toronto !
Yum! 😋
I have googled Po Boy with Shrimp and Tehina recipe Egyptian style and can't find a darn thing on it. Tried a search on the fried shrimp batter and nothing. I've read on reddit that someone from Egypt has never heard of this dish and now I'm baffled.
Finally lucas 😀
Dang..i was all excited thinking it's a new episode.
Place is, Dope!
Monika is quite fine bruh 👌
Mike Hawke then I'll just sit here and wait for 2 years. No big deal
No Monika cannot be 16. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University in 2013. Go check their Facebook Page. So she must be around 24 or something.

Thought this was a repost but didn't read below until now. Can we replace guy fieri in the tv universe with Lucas Peterson please, please, please? The Egyptian-Canadian family at Maha's seems like one of the nicest families in the world...
