What a chilling performance. I love the reaction of the man sat behind him staring on in amazement. He knows he’s sitting in the presence of a genius and enjoying every second of it.
As the song unfolds, there's a gathering awareness among those on the stage, that this young whippersnapper's hair is touching the flames, they're witnessing something beyond both them and Dylan - it's as though Dylan's channeling something...
A much clearer version, thank you, and I'm sure Bob handed the pick back! For a long time I wondered who passed it to him and earlier thoughts on Pete Seeger are now dismissed. I now think it could be Bob Gibson who also played on this Saturday afternoon Workshop from the tennis club porch.
Clarence Ashley, Doc Watson, Judy Collins...looked like Michael or Phil Ochs snapped a photo behind Bob near the end...the old weird America meets the new one...
The snapper was Rowland Scherman who Bob had met earlier and had invited to be close by. On the With God on Our Side video with Joan Baez, Scherman moves from being behind Dylan to over to his right. The photos he took can be Goggled up. If you think it's Clarence Ashley that hands the pick, I believe this to be Bob Gibson.
North Country Blues is the Essential Dylan. He never did better, though he did a lot of different like a Rolling Stone marks the decline of the Essential Dylan and the beginning of drug and pop Dylan. Some of it is interesting, such as You Gotta Serve Somebody, but most of the compositions are, at best, just interesting.

Thanks Mister Dylan
I've had it easy. But far out man I'm here.
I felt like crying. A sad historical saga.
Legend
Being from Rochdale, this cuts deep.
I think You can see him slowly cast a spell on his listeners....I realy don't know why but something makes this song very emotional for me...

Naw, Blood on the Tracks is his best album. But real heartbreak'll do that to you.
