What Atlas describes is not unique to wrestling at the time. I'm a black man who graduated from college in the late '80's and I've been stabbed in the back a lot by black colleagues who see other blacks as competition for promotions.

It’s amaziuthat we can feel more threatened and insecure by the perceived strength and likability of someone who looks like us. It’s almost like believing all the negative things people say about people like you, except you’re the lone exception and must prove it until you’re OJ or Tiger

    • @memyself4ever1

I myself, an African American can relate to our own stabbing us in the back instead of working together. It's a form of black-on-black crime or tribalism. Truth be told, that's why some of us are so messed up. What Tony talked about and what you have described about your past, I've dealt with the very same scenarios in the work place.

Tony do u remember the spectrum against piper and Muraco feb 1984. Do u remember against Murdoch and Adonis Kiel auditorium when u were stuck in the corner and they were stomping u in the head .also the one rocky had a bandage around his when it was bleeding. And the again in the spectrum against Fuji and tiger Chung lee . We need better and interviewers and others to call tony out on this his memory is fried

As a kid I didn't realize it because of how popular he was but he pretty much only had like 3 moves. His most impressive feat/best match was when he body slammed Andre the Giant. He was John Cena before John Cena.
