Well, what bothers me is the fact that Sonny literally just said that she is offended that Nikki Haley is suggesting term limits because people are too old, but then turn around and complains about Vivek being too young. It’s such a hypocritical response to me.
I actually agree with Alyssa and Sarah the most on this topic. Term limits are another way we can keep our democracy in check.

Sunny is wrong, it's not ageism to look at elderly people declining and deciding that they shouldn't be making decisions for an entire country that impact the entire world. They also don't have as big a stake in everything as the middle aged and young! It's common sense, we need term and age limits. We don't let people under 18 vote, is that ageism?
Wanting Representatives who are directly impacted by their decisions is important to me too. Not your grandchildren or great grandchildren, but you and your kids. I don't want to hear how back in your day you were able to survive on 2.25/hr, when the cost of living was a fraction of what it is today.

I do not understand why the younger generation is blind to what Biden has done for them. He is actively fighting climate change, fighting the cost of higher education, gun safely legislation, women's bodily autonomy rights, marriage equality, (as well as equality for all races, faiths, sexes etc) ...these are all supposed to be the biggest priorities for the younger generation..so, why do they not support him?
When they were 28, most with the exception of Trump were fighting in the Vietnam War. How old do you think people were when that decision was made? Trump's daddy paid off a podiatrist. He walks just fine at 77. His skills are just absolutely criminal.😊
Part of the argument is that in your 28-year-old life, you have never been 81. But the 81 year old has been 28. True, some of them don't remember what that was like. But many of them do, and they also know what comes after that. People like Joe Biden care about your 28-year-old life in a way that most other 28-year-olds do not, exactly because they have been there, and know how life will morph for you in the next decade, just as it has morphed for you since you were 18. I agree that Alyssa speaks for many young people like yourself, but there is a perspective that age brings that you cannot know until you are there, and often that is a desire to provide the best possible opportunities for young people to have the most successful lives possible. Their age can give them the wisdom to understand how to do that. Are there specific things that Biden has done in his dotage that are not in your best interest? Because I would argue the biggest errors he has made in his career were when he was a younger politician.

It's not that we don't value age or wisdom or experience. We just want the people controlling our country to be mentally capable of doing it. All political leaders' health should be scrutinized, no matter the age, but to say that age shouldn't be a factor we consider is just living life with blinders on. There's such a dissonance on the panel that the only young person there is also a conservative. It's odd for me to say but Alyssa speaks for a lot of the young generation here on our concerns about representation and the ability of our leaders.

The average age of the senate is the age of retirement for the rest of us. Experience is incredibly valuable but how experienced are these senators in today's world?

I would point out that Patty Murray who is the Senior US Senator from Washington, First Female President Pro Tempore of the US Senate, and Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has been in the Senate since 1993, and won re-election in 2022 with 57% of the Vote despite being 72 and has one of the highest approval ratings of any senator. So it really is just about how well can you do the job.
That doesn't mean anything. She keeps getting reelected because she's a Democrat in a blue state. It's how Strom Thurmond was still able to be Senator until 100 despite being barely alive.

Democrats are a lot more open to a primary challenge, and folks have tried, but she is so well liked that she's beaten every primary challenge. Same can't totally said for Dianne Feinstein for example, who only won her election in 2018 against another Democrat with 54% of the vote.

As a Latino yes I understand that we value and highly respect our elders as part of our culture… that doesn’t mean we expect them to be president or perform in a high stress job in the highest capacity. We need wisdom. But I think if your brain is not functioning properly at any age, we should be able to remove people or request them to step down. And the doctors that check these people out need to be non-political and make their reports strictly based on their medical expertise.

Since the Republicans took the House, more than 2 years ago, they have not produced one bill that that has done a once of good for Americans. They have on the other hand wasted MILLIONS of our tax dollars on investigations that have NOT produced one conviction or jail time for anyone. Times up.
