    While Congress has far bigger issues than a dress code, the elected official needs to have some respect for the office they are in and dress appropriately. This is 234 years of tradition ending. Its about a visible sign of respect for the institution of the Senate going away forever. Business suits aren't fashion, they are cleaning up for work and looking presentable to the public. Wearing gym shorts and dirty clothes says, "I don't care. Do you?" Symbolism has meaning!
      So yeah while we're at it.... lets knock down the U.S. Capitol building and our lawmakers can meet in the Wal-Mart breakroom instead. Don't need the Statue of Liberty, a light post will do. Quit being artsy with that painting of Washington crossing the Delaware, throw it out. Get rid of the glass case with the U.S. Constitution, we've got it on file. We don't need to inspire anyone with all this fashion fancy. Plain hoodies all around will do.

    Real Americans don’t care about dress codes! Like, do it like a high school dress code if you need one. No profanity, no slurs, no messages, no toes showing, no tears/stains, and everything that needs to be covered is covered.
    Requiring business attire, in itself, is classist and makes it more difficult for people to engage and become part of government. You’ll need to spend THOUSANDS on a new wardrobe. If you can do your job effectively, I LITERALLY don’t care what you’re wearing.

No I agree with a dress code.

    • @DatVideoDoe
      @DatVideoDoe 11 месяцев назад

      @@4daluvofnikki your argument isn’t for a dress code, it’s for the ability to be able to identify who is an employee of an establishment. That can be done without restricting clothing options. A pin, name tag, vest that goes over your clothes, etc all satisfy your need. And whatever is chosen, is done uniformly across the board.
      A person does not need to wear a tie or dress shoes to be able to do their job well.
      Take a step back and just think about the history of business attire in the West. Its classist, racist and exclusionary. Dress codes and being “work appropriate” are why we need things like the Crown Act.
      Your “argument” is also very much “let’s just stick to the status quo because that’s what I’m comfortable with” without even questioning why.
