When bleeding fuel on a duramax just crack the bleeder free and pump until fuel comes out of the bleeder consistently and then tighten it and it will start and stay running
I have a 01 lb7 and noticed when I bought it had new fuel lines . Froze up on winter and I noticed those hard lines someone kinked them on install. I couldn't afford new lines so I bought fuel hose and cut kink out and spliced hose and clamps in were it was bad. Never had my truck gel up or not start again after.
Thanks bud, I have an 07 1/2 3500HD, fuel issues after start up, replaced the primer pump seals, starts well but seems to starve upon acceleration for 5 seconds. Going to go over lines underneath as I’m in the rust belt Canada
When I installed my lift pump I replaced all the steel lines from the tank to the engine bay because the braided line to the tank was leaking and the line running to the engine bay was looking rough from many years in minnesota and it's an 06 lbz so it has seen alot of winters.
Mine has done that to me also. I reset it while pushing the accelerator and brake simultaneously. I have a FASS pump on mine. I change both fuel filters every other oil change.
Sucks that Chevy doesn't go with stainless steel lines to begin with on these. Just did the lines on my 2008. Went with replacement lines from linestogo. Called them up, gave them my VIN and had them the next day. They have a flexible fuel line option for the last part that snakes up to the engine which makes that part of the swap out easier. Really happy with them.
Anytime you open the fuel system, (filter, lines, filter head), its going to have a hesitation until it works the air out, super common, nothing to worry about as long as it straightens itself out within 2-5 good pulls. It can also be sign its time to change the filter or that it is sucking air through the wif sensor or filter head assembly. The wif sensor has gotten me a few times, whether backing out or just not sealing properly.
GM has a bulletin about the high pressure fuel line collapsing. One place it collapses on the left side where the fuel line comes up. Also underneath the bed of the truck same thing.
This is the video I have been waiting for. Had issues last summer pulling my race setup to Minnesota. Deleted the truck this spring and thought it helped the issue but other day I put the hammer down trying to make it to store before it closed and it went into limp mode. Thank you for this video!
Yes, I have run into this exact problem. In fact, it's happened to me 2 different times The first time was laziness and not changing the fuel filter for about twenty thousand miles Change the fuel filter reset the codes problem fixed. Ran probably about 3 or 4000 miles. Decided to go ahead and change the fuel filter again. Just to be safe so I didn't have to worry about it Got about 2800 miles out of the second filter. Then had to change it again. Still going so far. Stay away from Fram filters. And I have a 05 3500 dully
My buddys dad has one said same thing happened to him towing to Tennessee fuel lines were collapsing from heat. My lmm always said change fuel filter after it was in tune 5 and I was getting on it
I have a 2008 LMM crewcab, long bed dually. What parts store did you get the new lines from. I am finding parts for the 08 have been discontinued. Do you think the lines for multiple years are the same?
The flex lines coming from the siphon on the tank and around the fuel return cooler both have issues with interior collapsing they behave like when a flexible brake line swells and collapses
And Allison without a shift kit is probably going to hesitate just a little bit especially if the truck has not been put to the floor in the last 50 miles. It takes a little bit to relearn.
Tip of the day: Keep a screwdriver or wrench in your truck just in case you run out of fuel and you have to call your wife to bring you a Jerry can. I have an Airdog lift pump and it's REALLY easy to prime the fuel lines with that when I have something to open the bleeder screw.
i found the oil leak on the bellhousing on mine to be the turbo oil feed line not a rear main or anything like that , in the process of doing the cp3 on my 02 lb7

I quit searching for replacement fuel lines real quick and instead ordered a Fass lift pump, some extra fuel line, and a whole bunch of fittings. I’m going to cut the lines at the back of the motor and replace it all the way back. I’ve ordered a low pressure fuel line kit and injector return lines. This 2006 2500 Chevy Express LLY has been sitting and the fuel was thick and sticky and smelled like bad paint so I dropped the tank and cleaned it and am putting in a new fuel transfer unit even though I’m using a tank sump. I want clean fuel! Sure hope it starts and runs. It will eventually but how much money will it take? 😂
my 08's lines are collapsed just ordered in new ones. Been having a weird issue where my injector balances are reading good but each time I have checked them i have between 1 to 3 that are in the 1.5 to 3 range and its never the same ones. Went to do an injector cleaning and noticed the lines. Should probably check my rail pressure vs requested.

Injector replacements were not fun in the parking lot while it was about 100 deg out though 😂

That hesitation shifting could have something to do with the glow plug module code. When I had a bad glow plug module in my LLY it would shift funny sometimes. After the new Glow plug module, never had a problem since.

Had a stage 4 trans done lift pump tap shifter fleece and edge insight cts3 with the extra wires for the turbo truck does have 5pos switch efi live and gets now I got truck back and it doesn’t build over 6psi boost and lags almost 10 secs the goes to 18 psi then back to hardly nothing. Could this be a fuel issues it shifts all over the place too now I checked for boost leaks and all good their new maf sensor too idk im beat also the truck had the head shaved and new gaskets arp head studs
@Truck Master. Was that coolant tank painted black on top? Easy way to tell if a truck has had overheating problems is the coolant tank turns black; but I've never seen just the top turn black only on top and so perfectly.
I have an 08 LMM and had this same issue with the fuel pressure low and went into limp mode. I was watching your channel and a few others and the kinked fuel line was brought to my attention. Turned out mine had a kink near the driver side inlet on the braided section. I am a cheapo for now and put a hose clamp on the kink to keep it open and it is working for now (till I can replace the fuel lines soon) also might need some help with putting together a parts list for an EGR issue which I am going to be addressing very very soon. Let me know if you can point me in the right direction for making a list of parts for the LMM.
I have a 2013 Chevy 2500 HD, 6.6 Turbo Diesel, slightly gave it gas to pass a car to make interstate exit, truck bogged and eventually shut off when rolling around the exit ramp, Primer bulb felt loose, replaced the fuel pump road side and tried to crank a few times but battery died. No check engine light, cuts off once fuel pressure is met as usual with first cutting on the ignition. My biggest concern is there was a good bit of metal shavings in the fuel filter, some bigger rusted flakes some smaller clean metal shavings but enough to be concerning. Seeing a lot about injection pumps from my research, definitely going to check all fuel lines while she’s down, I’ll start with bleeding any air out and repriming, don’t want to risk getting any metal in engine fuel components, can I trust the new fuel filter to catch that or should I look into flushing the lines and troubleshooting the pump before attempting to start anymore?
I own an 08 duramax and I have these same issues it has a fuel pump and it is still having this issue the mechanic can not figure it out any ideas on what to check next has new injectors and fass fuel pump
Man with all that replaced you should be fine, check all your lines for leaks and make sure your filter is newish and has a good seal, i remember something about the filter housings having an issue sometimes, atleast with a fuel pump it will be a leak instead of sucking air so should be easier to find
I am looking for a scan tool that I can monitor my engine parameters with. I saw the one that you were using and it looks pretty simple. Does it also do forced regens if you need to?
Good video. How many miles? I have same exact truck plan to keep it long time. I’ll check my lines tomorrow. That shift could have been cause he doesn’t drive it like that. From what I’ve heard they are very adaptive transmissions

Was thinking the same when i heard this. When i bought my 05 LLY couple years ago, my buddy plugged into it with his knock off snap on scan tool, and set my trans to "relearn" my driving habits from the previous owner. Not sure if the newer gens have it actively learning or not, but that was def my first thought. Giving the motor the fuel it has been screaming for, and then it getting it. probably like chugging a beer too quick when you get off work. get a lil choked up. lmao.
ive did a reroute on my 2008 3500 chevy lmm and installed a catch can. my problem is i get oil coming out of the catch can filter and was wondering if i take the catch can off and let the hoses run down would i get oil on the bottom of the truck. thanks for the knowledge of these trucks.
So was the fuel line the main culprit? I’m having the same issue where when I get on it, it goes to reduced engine power, then the fuel filter also goes off when it’s at 100% right back to 0% when I get on it. No blow by, no leaks once so ever just stuck. Any help?
Very informative, and well done! I'm currently having some hesitation issues at WOT on my rebuilt 2011 LML, and this gave me something else to check. The visuals showing all the other small "checks" you did on the truck was helpful as well. Great job as always!
How about you do a review of that artidiag 600S diagnostic tool that you use. We'd like to see more about that tool. It seems to do well with duramaxes.
does anyone know why duramax would be blowing fuel lines? My friend just replaced the same one twice in a row. Seems fine at idle and then on the highway it bursts hoses.. I'm not familiar with diesel systems
I wanted to replace my fuel lines for my 2011 Crew Cab Long Bed Dually that run from the fuel tank on the driver side up by the transmission but they have been discontinued by everyone, Doorman , AC Delco ,GM themselves, lines to go , Inline tube . .I was referred to go to the junk yard but the defeats the purpose of going new and to stop collapsing fuel lines while under suction . Can the rubber be cut off my old tubes and new rubber with clamps be added for a new joint? What kind of fittings can be used to replace the old rubber fuel suction lines . Any leads would be help for or what can be done would help me too . Thank You
Where did you order these fuel lines from ???? Everybody has fuel lines for injection stuff but not main fuel lines ? I have the same problem with my truck
@@TruckMaster Thank you for the tip, Can those rubber braided fuel lines up by the transmission still collapse even if i have the fuel tank pressurized with 15 psi . Will the walls still collapse and close when the injection pump draws fuel even when the walls of the fuel line are pressurised by a external source ? . I made a fitting from the air compressor to the fuel tank of the truck . Seems to me you are a believer in Christ as I am too.
I don't know why GM doesn't use better fuel and brake lines. Those are the first two things I look at when I get a used GM vehicle. Very dangerous to have a brake line blow out that is corroded. Salt just eats them up.
So I recently took my family 1600 miles round trip to Central Montana and had my fuel filter light come on a couple times and my tuner threw a code at me while passing slower traffic under load and it said fuel rail pressure low. I have a LML, I put a lift pump on it this last weekend and through advice of a local friend, parked it and ordered a Cp3 conversion kit, I did notice that one of the notes after I had placed the order for the cp3 kit said that if I am running a lift pump in tandem with the cp3 kit, I needed to make sure the PSI from the lift pump was no more than 2psi. It's a Fleece cp3 kit and I'm running a Fass titanium 100gph lift pump. Any words of wisdom on that? How do I change the psi if needed? I tried searching all over RUclips and can't find anyone mentioning this being an issue, so trust and hope are in you for some help brother!!
It’s a shame we even have to figure this stuff out ourselves because the mechanics won’t do their job or know how to solve issues unless a scanner tells them what to do
Honestly it Probably fixed the problem. Starving an lml of fuel is deadly. Better replace it anyways regardless. Unless you wanna pay for the entire new fuel system when that cp4 blows up..
@timAA205 exactly.... I'm planning on cutting the flex fuel lines out and going with 1/2 steel... just on the flex braided lines. I'm from the south so the salt and rust isn't the issue... mud can be but,not real common down here. Thanks for all that you do. Im a Certified RUclips mechanic ..lol.
Ey Josh,im looking at a 2008 LMM down here Australia,i seen you replacing head gaskets on the LMM on your other video, have these LMM trucks have head gasket problems ?
I can't believe you would say things about God and country! All I can say is.......... I'm now a lifetime subscriber! Oh, and by the way....Darn 6.0s always sound the best and I'm not a Ford guy!
I'm assuming the initial hesitation to shift was probably cause by the lack of fuel pressure before and then it finally seen full pressure and the taps was like wait hold up a sec here lol
Yes it would but it could just be your fuel filter is clogged or your fueo rail valve is bad and the spring in it is compromised. Check those areas as well. Very common
When bleeding fuel on a duramax just crack the bleeder free and pump until fuel comes out of the bleeder consistently and then tighten it and it will start and stay running

ive did a reroute on my 2008 3500 chevy lmm and installed a catch can. my problem is i get oil coming out of the catch can filter and was wondering if i take the catch can off and let the hoses run down would i get oil on the bottom of the truck. thanks for the knowledge of these trucks.
You might get a little oil over time. But i run my hose to the outside its just easier.
@@jonathoncatterson8901 does it leave oil all over the bottom of the truck if i run them outside
I learn something from all your video's. Should that Schrader valve be opened and purged every time you change filters or suspect air ?
Thanks! Also no it’s not necessary
So was the fuel line the main culprit? I’m having the same issue where when I get on it, it goes to reduced engine power, then the fuel filter also goes off when it’s at 100% right back to 0% when I get on it. No blow by, no leaks once so ever just stuck. Any help?
I honestly don’t know after all this I kind of gave up but it’s very possible the fuel issue is the problem as well
@@TruckMaster alrighty appreciate the help
Very informative, and well done! I'm currently having some hesitation issues at WOT on my rebuilt 2011 LML, and this gave me something else to check. The visuals showing all the other small "checks" you did on the truck was helpful as well. Great job as always!
How about you do a review of that artidiag 600S diagnostic tool that you use. We'd like to see more about that tool. It seems to do well with duramaxes.
Hey Josh. I have a 2016 lml and my def got stuck at 24%. Gm wants $220 just to look at it any suggestions?
Hello Josh. Wow major fueling issues on your friends truck where his fuel filter is empty. I know that you'll find the issue and fix it for him.
Josh where did you buy your fuel lines? I have a lly duramax. Thanks Bob.
Jake. Where did you get the fuel lines? I like the braded stainless
What are the good ranges for the injection rates
Did replacing the low pressure fuel pump/sending unit fix this truck’s issue?
Any way u can’ help me out figure out a issue going on with my truck been messing with it can’t find the problem
does anyone know why duramax would be blowing fuel lines? My friend just replaced the same one twice in a row. Seems fine at idle and then on the highway it bursts hoses.. I'm not familiar with diesel systems
What's with the duel alternators?
Hi buddy, I would like to know where you are located because I have some issues in my Silverado 3500 diesel, and I really like your videos, thanks
Are you still using the topdon artidiag? Im debating between the one you have or the xtool d8 for my lbz.
Can you recommend a video showing how to change the U-joints on a Duramax?
Your lucky to be able jump back!!! Imagine the guy on his back in the driveway and cant move quick
Your not kidding
Hey Josh, do you have the part number for the fuel lines ?
Thank You
What have you done about it?
@@j_rainsgoat3929 Nothing just yet , still running stock fuel lines
Let me know what you came up with for a solution. I am having the same issue with discontinued parts for my 08 lmm.
U know it T M! Need a Air Dog 4G or the new 5G! Totally excellent Job on fuel line's 🛠🏁💨🤘🏻
Where did you order these fuel lines from ???? Everybody has fuel lines for injection stuff but not main fuel lines ? I have the same problem with my truck
Dorman
@@TruckMaster Thank you for the tip, Can those rubber braided fuel lines up by the transmission still collapse even if i have the fuel tank pressurized with 15 psi . Will the walls still collapse and close when the injection pump draws fuel even when the walls of the fuel line are pressurised by a external source ? . I made a fitting from the air compressor to the fuel tank of the truck . Seems to me you are a believer in Christ as I am too.
8:57 a true Earl shower right there! Yee haw!
😂
What brand was the fuel lines
Dorman
Well done lad 👍🏻
Wish you would come fix my head gaskets
I wonder if you seen way worse fuel lines than that owning you live in Michigan, honestly that frame didn't look to bad since you live in Michigan.
What scan tool is that?
Can we get a video on the Cummins
And
Can we get a update video on the your military friend Truck that you built for him
It’s a shame we even have to figure this stuff out ourselves because the mechanics won’t do their job or know how to solve issues unless a scanner tells them what to do
Update us on this as soon as u can... my lml has collapsed fuel lines right at the connection.... I thought it's supposed to be like that 🤦
Honestly it Probably fixed the problem.
600 perfect time for a lift pump
Ey Josh,im looking at a 2008 LMM down here Australia,i seen you replacing head gaskets on the LMM on your other video, have these LMM trucks have head gasket problems ?
You shouldn’t have to worry about head gasket problems on the LMM’s just emissions issues
@@TruckMaster Edit: Ok thanks Josh, keep up the good vids mate been enjoying watching them,Cheers Bryan from Downunder..
@@TruckMasteremission problems please do tell me
I'm selling my 06 LBZ, just need to get my stuff out, wash, and vacuum it.
I can't believe you would say things about God and country!
All I can say is..........
I'm now a lifetime subscriber!
Oh, and by the way....Darn 6.0s always sound the best and I'm not a Ford guy!
I'm assuming the initial hesitation to shift was probably cause by the lack of fuel pressure before and then it finally seen full pressure and the taps was like wait hold up a sec here lol
very good video and good advice 💯
Seventh 👊🏻💪🏻 Cummins to the rescue 🫣
will this problem give you a low fuel pressure limp mode
Yes it would but it could just be your fuel filter is clogged or your fueo rail valve is bad and the spring in it is compromised. Check those areas as well. Very common
Normal coolant temp for a 2014 6.6 Savana,
Duramax usually run 180 to 195 just normal driving when warmed up. Will get hotter on hills but then your fan shoukd kick on
👍
Injectors should be between -4 to +4 anything more or less they need changed
hesitation could be air in the fuel line.
Mine i can't drive it will not start.
